Executive Summary

Chapter 1

INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction

The IT sector is comprised of companies that produce software, hardware, or semiconductor

equipment and companies that produce internet related services. These three are the major
parts of IT sector which are further categorized into industries and sub-industries.

The IT sector across USA has developed to an average of 20 % over the last decade from
2007- 2019. The economy in US of IT sector has been growing slowly from being $835 bil in
2008 to $1480 bil in 2017. The U.S. leads the global landscape in tech innovation according
to World Economic Forum’s 2018 global competitive index.

Global Distribution of top 100 Digital Companies and Market Capitalization

The U.S. is the largest tech market in the world, almost 32% of the total with about $1.7
trillion for 2020. There are 100,000 software and IT services companies in the United States
with 99% of them being small and medium sized i.e. having fewer than 500 employees.

With Information technology being adapted into each and every business and has become a
crucial part of the business model, the service providers also are keen in developing newer
business strategies and coming up with solutions to complex problems with technological
advancements. One such company which caters with IT service providing majorly to tackle
with the oil and gas theft solutions is All About IT.inc

I completed my summer internship program under this company All About IT.inc with my
association under Business Development team which works with the activities related to
signing of a project with pre sales duties like creating RFPs which are bids from various
companies around the globe especially from Singapore, USA and Brazil. These RFPs are one
of the ways to sign deals with companies seeking IT solutions. Another area which I worked
for having all over experience of IT sales process was cold calling. This process works with
collection of information of companies and the person associated using software such as
ZOOM INFO and calling begins to find the prospective leads. Once done with calling and the
individuals who haven’t shown much interest over calls are contacted through E-mail
marketing. Another strong area that I got to work on is “Social Media Marketing” which is
emerging in B2B also these days.
CHAPTER 2

INDUSTRY PROFILE
2.1 INTRODUCTION

The information technology has achieved a brand image as knowledge economy due to
upgrade from software exporting to providing IT services. The sector has been continuously
providing to the nation’s GDP from 1.2% in FY 1998 to 7.2% in 2012.

According to NASSCOM the IT and BPO sector in the nation aggregated a revenue of US $
100 billion in 2012, where export comprises of US $ 69.1 billion. The cities that account for
90% of export section are Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Kolkata.

The global information technology industry is racing to $ 5.2 trillion in 2020. Economies,
jobs and personal lives have become digital, more connected and automated. The United
States is the largest tech market in the world holding about 32% of the total i.e. approx. $ 1.7
trillion for 2020. In the U.S., as well other countries the IT represents a significant portion of
their economy. The cyberstates website report reveals that the economic impact of U.S. in
terms of percentage is more than the GDP of most of other countries including sectors like
retail, construction and transportation. Though the size of U.S. market the spending on it
happens outside the borders depended on population, GDP and market maturity.
There are a number of categories to depict the IT sectors which are of five top levels.

The traditional hardware, software and services account up to 56% of global total, the other
core category, telecom services accounts for 26%. The other 17% are the emerging startups
that don’t fit in the traditional category which is the case for many of them coming out ‘as-a-
service’ solutions that comprise of all elements i.e. hardware, software, and service and other
automating techs.

Worldwide forecast of spending on core IT services from 2017-2019 ($billions).

Industry Subsectors
Cloud Computing Services: The IDC expects the global revenue from public cloud
computing services will grow four times as fast as IT spending generally, increasing
by 27.6% per year from $ 21 billion in 2010 to $ 76 billion in 2015. The U.S

Data Center Systems: A data center is a consolidated facility made of computers and storage
devices that business and organizations use to organize process and store and disseminate
huge amount of data. All business of the organizations is supported by applications, services
and data in the center, making it an important asset to daily operations.

Enterprise Software: Enterprise application software is large software based operations that
aim at supporting and solving the problems of the entire organization. It defines each
individual’s role and assigns task accordingly ex: sales people using the software to log
certain information related to cliental, product and sales pipeline.

IT services: Companies in this subsector of IT provides services such as software support,

computer systems design, data processing facility management. Some of major companies
are Cognizant, DXC Technologies and the consulting arm of IBM (U.S based), HCL
Technologies, TATA Consultancy and WIPRO.

Evolution of IT industry can be phased into 4 stages.

PHASE I: Prior to 1980

Indian IT industry was basically started with hardware and software industry was very much
non-existent until 1960. Government protected the hardware sector with high tariff and
licensing. In 1972 the government came up with software export scheme in which software
and hardware were allowed to export, TCS ltd was the first company to agree to this. The
beginning of software exports was made in 1974.

PHASE II: 1980-1990

During this phase the software could not reach the level expected because of two reasons.
The export of software was too much dependent on the hardware and procedure was too
cumbersome. The presence of rigid infrastructural structure for software was necessary,
procedural complications and import was mandatorily reduced. With the newly formulated
policy on software creators and exporters the government liberalized the IT industry.
PHASE III: 1990-2000

This decade noticed huge competition and companies investing in rigorous R&D and
bringing the best software services. This competition started showing difference in the
nation’s economy, liberalization of trade, foreign investments taking place and majorly
devaluation of rupee. This leads to the introduction of MNCs, offshore model, on site model,
and many other distinguished services.

PHASE IV: Post 2000

The worldwide issues like Y2k, the dotcom crash and the downturn in the US economy has
constrained numerous US firms to use the administrations of the Indian firms. This has come
about in setting the Indian IT industry on the worldwide guide. Post 2002 – 03, the business
had enlisted a powerful development rate. During this period there was an expansion in the

Indian customer base, huge measured agreements and a solid worldwide conveyance model.

Managed Security services

The process of providing security to the data, operations, threats, frauds, and many more
security issues to a company that deals their operations through computing. They are called
Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) and their roots ground to internet providers in
the mid to late 1990s.

Organizations today are facing high threats as the technology is available to everyone and
anyone can barge to any networks they desire, hence security being a multidiscipline subject
is at utmost need of the hour today. AAITPRO experts in security are equipped with leading
tools and have a rigorous work process to keep our client’s assets safe and secure.

detection systems an firewalls, overseeing patch management and upgrades, performing
security assessments and security audits, and responding to emergencies. AAITPRO also
manages security process from an off-site location allowing the business to work without
any intrusion in the operations.
 Managed security services
offer continuous oversight, 24
hours a day, 7 days a week, and
365 days a year. Choosing to
handle enterprise security in-

outsourced vendor, requires a
substantial investment in
manpower and technology.
 Cyber-attacks evolve at an
incredibly fast pace, leading to
one new threat after another. Without the proper security tools and resources to keep up
with evolving threats can create a big problem for any organisation. Recovering from
incidents detected too late can consume substantial resources and at times, even the
business itself.
 Our focus on monitoring the threat landscape means we often have a distinct
advantage over enterprises with a core business function unrelated to security and
technology. We specialise in early threat detection and protection, so enlisting the
services allows the organisation to focus on core business activities while leaving
security concerns to the experts.

PROJECT 1: REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP)

A Request for Proposal, or RFP, is a document created by a corporation, non-profit or

government entity to describe the criteria for a specific project. Using the RFP process, they
solicit bids from interested vendors and determine which vendor could be the best suited to
complete the project.

Why organisations create RFP?

Detailing the organisation’s need in an RFP will gauge the vendor’s understanding about the
project in a better way. Using RFPs also ensures the organisations to create benchmarks they
can sue later to measure a project’ success. RFPs also promote accountability for government
agencies and non-profits, and inform the public that they are accountable for project priorities
and vendor choices.

How does RFP process work?

Determine what matters most: Set the scoring criteria you will use to select a vendor by
deciding what matters most: a vendor’s cost estimate, skill set, or references and reviews.
Doing this before publicly releasing your RFP reduces the number of proposals you must
seriously consider and makes it easier to rank them.

Create the RFP: Identify the needs for the project, including the specific information listed
in the section below. To help vendors understand your proposal, edit it to make sure you have
explained your requirements clearly and concisely, so the bids you receive will more likely
align with your organization’s mission.

What Should You Include in an RFP?

Although each RFP will vary according to the needs and goals of a project, most include the
same categories of information:

 The history of an organization

 A detailed description of the project, including the reason it was created and the
results you desire
 Specific requirements about preferred materials, tools, systems, and/or products
 The budget
 The project deadline, along with clearly defined milestones and dates
 Questions you would like the respondents to answer or additional details you would
like them to provide
 The submission deadline, contact information, and guidelines to submit proposals

What Do You Do When You Finish Your RFP?

Share the RFP: Give vendors plenty of time to find and respond to your RFP by providing it
to them online, via trade news outlets, and in field-specific settings.

Negotiate with the vendor you select: Once you award the project to a vendor, review the cost
of each line item with that vendor and negotiate further to lower the bid.

The RFP process can feel complicated and time-consuming, but by specifying your needs to
vendors in a well-written RFP, you can find the best vendor for a project. Writing is always
difficult, and trying to communicate details in an RFP can be even harder.

Preparing the Proposals (RFP)

A Request for Proposal (RFP) is a business document announcing and providing details of a
project, as well as soliciting bids from contractors that will help complete the project. Many
companies tend to use RFPs, and in many instances governments do use proposal requests. A
proposal for a particular program may require that the organization review the bids to analyse
their viability, the health of the bidder and the capacity of the bidder to do what is proposed.

RFPs detail the procurement procedure and contract terms, and offer instructions on how bids
should be structured and delivered. They are generally reserved for complex projects. These
requests define the purpose of the project and the appraisal requirements that indicate how
projects are assessed. Requests that include a contract statement, a summary of the tasks to be
performed by the winning bidder and a timetable for finished work. These also provide
information about the issuing company and its business line.
RFPs also guide bidders on how to prepare proposals. They may outline instructions on what
information the bidder must include and the desired format.

KEY TAKEAWAYS:

 A request for proposal is a project funding announcement posted by an organization

for which companies place bids.
 The RFP outlines the bidding process and contract terms and guides how the bid
should be formatted.
 RFPs are used primarily by government agencies to get the lowest possible bid.
 RFPs allow the requesting company to get multiple bidders.

While working on these proposals I was involved in various tasks as per the proposal
requirement such as:
 For making RFPs AAIT company provided us with a template which was used by the
company for the proposals. For every country template is different. I worked on USA
and Singapore proposals with different templates.
 For writing proposals, I did extensive research to get the price details for the products
and services which are mentioned in the proposals and also enter the lowest price for
the proposals along with the AAIT’s profit.
 Also, I learnt that AAIT should be authorized seller for the products and services
which are asked in the proposal. If they are not, their bid won’t be considered.
 There are two types of submission of RFPs either by online through websites like
1. https://www.gebiz.gov.sg/about-us.html
2. https://www.harriscountytx.gov/
 The USA RFPs need an extra content that suffices the project work of the company.
This letter covers the services provided by AAIT, the actual service requested by the
bidder, and briefly how we go about with it.
 Uploading the bids from the above websites to the OPUS platform (digital work
space) for assigning the RFPs to the specific person.
 RFP once produced with the help of template and certain other forms like taxpayer
information if filled the RFP is logged in the OPUS saying it is ready for review and
the status of RFP is changed to review, approved, won or lost accordingly.

PROJECT 3: SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING

Social media marketing is the use of social media channels to communicate with your
audience to create your brand, improve sales and increase traffic on websites. This includes
posting positive content on your social media pages, listening to your followers and engaging
them, reviewing your stats, and running social media ads.

Why Social Media Marketing?

1. Your customers are on social media: One of the major reasons to use social media
marketing is that your customers are spending time on these media platforms. The
stats say that at least 70% of U.S. population have any one of the media presence
(profile) by 2021 the usage of social media is expected be reaching 3.1 billion people.
2. Consumers are more receptive through the media: Users are active on social media
sites as these networks provide a fun and convenient way to network, keep in contact
with friends and family, and stay updated to what's happening around the world.
Users are not necessarily on such platforms with the hope they would be sold to. But
that does not mean that consumers of social media are not following their favourite
brands and engaging with them.
3. Marketing in social media enhances customers association: Benefit of marketing
through social media is that it helps to increase the exposure and thereby improves
brand’s awareness. Company’s social media accounts give new ways to share their
content and to really show the voice and personality of the brand. By sharing
engaging content that brings value to the target market, making the brand more
available to new members and existing customers as well as more familiar. Ex:
PlayStation keeps their users always connected, especially.
4. Diversity in social media helps reach specific audience: Another strategy in social
media is that company can target specific audience through different channels of this
platform rather than just putting your marketing out for everyone whether the user is
or isn’t interested. Creating a clear list of demographic values for audience, the more
detailed the better. This list may include their gender, age, location, interests,
following brands, hobbies etc. This information shall give a upper hand in creating
content apt to the targeted consumer.
5. Marketing in social media is cost effective: One of the biggest benefits of social media
marketing is that it lets the company cut back on marketing expenses without losing
results. Most of the success on social media will come from spending time in
producing and publishing content, as well as communicating with customers and
followers. The good news is that only a few hours a week will deliver positive results.
In reality, HubSpot estimates that with as little as six hours of effort spent on social
media each week, 84 each cent of marketers were able to generate increased traffic.
Social media marketing is the use of social media channels to communicate with the audience
to create the brand, increase sales and drive traffic on websites. It includes posting positive
content on their social media pages, listening to their followers and engaging them,
evaluating the findings and running social media ads.

AAIT has a major social media presence in Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram
therefore I have created below plan for Social media marketing for AAIT:

Worked on three different things for Social media for AAIT –

• Content Marketing

• Social Media Engagement

• Use Hashtags

Plan for Content Marketing

 Managed Security
 Managed Services
 Network Fusion
 Cloud Fusion
 Ethical Hacking

So, starting with the solutions we provide on controlled protection, we can come up with
a fact written on the pic and explained in the captions / description, we can explain what
we are doing and how we can help the companies on the various posts on social media
platforms.

For Ex – Managed Security & Services

Fact - The average cost of a data breach in 2020 will exceed $150 million.

Ethical Hacking

Fact - There is a hacker attack every 39 seconds

AAIT can provide ethical hacking to further explore your organization’s security
vulnerabilities through white hat hacking procedures.

Plan for Social Media Engagement

Social media engagement is an important metric to consider when building an online

store. While most want to increase the size of their audience, they often fail to increase
their social media engagement as well. When you engage with your followers on social
media you can turn them from fans into customers. The time you devote to building
relationships with your audience can lead to a higher number of sales, increase in
customer loyalty, and higher positive reviews
 Post Content worth Engaging With.
