FIRST ARTICLE
Automatic maneuver detection and tracking of space objects in optical
survey scenarios based on stochastic hybrid systems formulation
In groups, select two scientific articles, one showing an experimental and one
non-experimental research design.
Experimental

Identify the scientific research methodology. How did the scientist work and how
he/she found the knowledge described?
The type of methodology that this one has is: Pre-Experiment because of the focus
that they are given on the objects in the space and don't actually research about them.
Describe the steps followed to find the knowledge in a graphic document. Include
pictures.
Space Surveillance and Tracking (SST)
Discuss with your group mates if the scientific design is experimental or non-
experimental and the specific kind of design.
Experimental research is the type of research that uses a scientific approach towards
manipulating one or more control variables and measuring their defect on the
dependent variables, while non-experimental research is the type of research that does
not involve the manipulation of control variables. The main distinction in these 2 types
of research is their attitude towards the manipulation of control variables.
Experimental allows for the manipulation of control variables while non-experimental
research doesn't.
Present your research description in front of the classroom including the
research design type and methodology.
Experimental: The first investigation consists of a robot or a dispositive that scientifics
and astronomers want to use to find space objects, they are solvingNumerous
techniques can be applied to the aforementioned problem attending to the
mathematical behavior of the system of interest. Under linear dynamics and Gaussian
unbiased noise assumptions, an analytical solution exists, as is the well-known
Kalman Filter. which component and equipment is needed to found their objective,
State space filtering refers to the process of estimating the optimal sequence of states
A total number of 20 detectable maneuvers, consisting of 29 detectable burns, are
distributed along 401 days and 362 tracks. 5 of them are single-burn NSSK, while the
total number of (double-burn) EWSK is 16. Note that for these maneuvers (and burns)
to be detectable an observation needs to be obtained between them, otherwise two or
even three burns may be collapsed into one distinguishable orbit update.
SECOND ARTICLE
Economic growth and carbon dioxide emissions: An analysis of Latin
America and the Caribbean
In groups, select two scientific articles, one showing an experimental and one
non-experimental research design.
Non Experimental

Identify the scientific research methodology. How did the scientist work and how
he/she found the knowledge described?
This methodology is based on the analysis of the empiric relation (empirical research)
and is made out of quantitative research (graphical growth), which is more practical
and efficient. The scientists follow the literature review on the EKC, where they
analyze the relationship between environmental quality and economic growth based
on a regression model.
Describe the steps followed to find the knowledge in a graphic document. Include
pictures.
Present your research description in front of the classroom including the
research design type and methodology.
The relationship between economic growth and environmental pollution is
considered one of the most important empirical relationships in
environmental economics, having as one of its main assumptions that in a
country's development process, as per-capita income rises, environmental
quality initially deteriorates to a certain point, after which environmental
quality improves while income continues to rise. Graphically, this empirical
relationship takes the form of an inverted U-shape, and is known in the
economic literature as the Environmental Kuznets Curve. Having
established that the variables are I, the cointegration test,, fails to reject
the null hypothesis of no cointegration between per-capita CO 2 emissions
and per-capita real GDP for all the statistics. Regardless of the
specification of the deterministic component considered, we can conclude
that there is no long-run equilibrium relationship between the variables
when we consider cross-dependence in the panel.
