This worksheet focusing on jobs vocabulary

can either be used as an individual or team
reading exercise (page 1) or as a team game
(page 2). As an extension, you can even make
it into a writing lesson which students will
surely enjoy. Full instructions provided on page
3. Have fun.

Please note that some of the jobs are depicted

as being female jobs such as nurse but this is
not always necessarily so although in many
countries the proportion of female nurses is
much higher than male nurses. It goes without
saying that both men and women can both be
nurses and doctors so maybe take this
moment to create awareness among your
students in the classroom. Of course
housewives are female as well but you might
want to introduce the word house husband to
make it clear that it is not necessarily the
woman who stays at home.

This printable, downloadable handout is best

suited for at Elementary (A1) and Pre-
intermediate (A2) level. It is valuable for
revising Subject and verb agreement and
Questions: WH questions (open-ended
questions) in English, and is useful for
strengthening your class' Listening skills. It
centers around the theme of Jobs, work and
Learning languages.

It is well-prepared sheet. It is fun and it allows the

students to interact with each other. lend itself as
a line up activity. Thanks.

✉ tohrunix 2022-01-26 22:22:41

It's fun to make students work in groups while

trying to guess professions, and also they have
the chance to practice pronunciation before the
competition starts. It's a way to prompt them to
read clearly so their peers listen and guess the
riddles.

I like these worsheets.

✉ WpnofGod 2020-08-19 03:07:39

Pay no attention to all these triggered social

justice warriors. Notice they never mention how
easy it would be to edit the worksheet themselves
to et their idea of what this world should look like.
No, they want you, the author to make the
changes. To them, it is all about power and
control. Do not bend the knee to their demands.
We need more teaching material like this and we
need more content creators like you with the
courage to do so. I for one make it a point to
always teach what the so called leftist
progressives call "gender norms." I simply call it
normal, natural, and healthy. In countries where
there is such a high level of creepy focus on the
elimination of gender gaps, there is also higher
levels of depression, suicide, crime, and divorce.
On the other hand, countries where men are
expected and allowed to be men and likewise for
women, there is a higher level of happiness and
lower level of divorce. This is what I am eghting
for. All you woke hypersensitive power hungry
leftists, GTFO of the classroom and leave our
children alone!

Wow what can I say, I am so incredibly grateful for

these lessons. I facilitate 3 different women's
group who have come to Canada and are from all
over the world. There passion to learn English and
my passion to teach them is equally matches. My
struggle was ending printable materials for free. I
am a retired senior with not much money but a
strong will to help these wonderful women meet
their goals as quickly as possible. I am humbled
and grateful beyond wordsrnThank yournSimone

A good worksheet but not the greatest example to

be teaching young children. Flight attendants, 'are
usually good-looking'. A house wife, 'doesn't have
a job'. (Complete with a picture of a woman
relaxing on a sofa reading a book.) I dare you to
show this to any house wife or house husband! I
enjoy and appreciate your worksheets PhilipR but
some of the content of this one is outdated.

✉ MariePerie 2018-01-31 23:55:01

Thanks for putting in online. The way you

constructed the work sheet is really nice.
However, some of the statements are a bit old -
fashioned, in my opinion. There are more and
more male nurses out there. Also, for stay at
home moms, it can feel quite uncomfortable if
they read" I don't have a job". But besides that:
Thank you for all the contribution here. I
appreciate it.

✉ Inchicore8 2020-03-30 13:41:50

Hello, i have used several of your riddle pages

with my beginner classes. They are always a
success. They can be used as a team listening
competition as revision for elementary level
classes etc. They are being used this week in my
video class as listening and end the answer for
my students who are all in lockdown due to Covid-
19 here in France. Thanks for sharing

✉ soultanamalika 2020-03-01 11:34:33

Hello! Thank you for this worksheet which worked

great with my students! rnBut I must confess I
was a bit confused with the description ( and the
picture you've selected) for the housewife. As
teachers, we really have to deconstruct
stereotypes and gendered representations. I
chose to modify this part of the worksheet before
working with it in my classroom.

✉ littleschool 2016-03-31 17:05:31

Oh maaan! Really? It is a bit sexist, isn't it? "I work

in the sky, I'm often a woman, I serve food and
drinks and I'm usually GOOD LOOKING???" not to
talk about the housewife description "I don't have
a job, I stay at home"...The worksheet was useful
and funny til I read that...change it please!

✉ soultanamalika 2020-03-01 11:38:10

As teachers, we have the responsabilty to

deconstruct stereotypes and gendered
representations. The description you made of the
'housewife' is really disturbing. Although the
worksheet is great, I had to modify it before
working on it. It's a shame to read this kind of
comment on the 21st century.

✉ jbender232 2017-04-26 14:17:11

This would be a great resource if there weren't

sexist comments like "I am usually a woman" and
"I am usually good looking" for hight attendants.
Teachers should be helping children unlearn
sexism in society, rather than perpetuating it. Just
take a second and rehect on what you're doing.

✉ gigima 2016-07-29 02:03:40

I really love these type of activities, educational

and fun to do. However I do have a comment...
Some descriptions seemed a bit sexist to me...
And to my class. It might have worked if they were
younger. Anyways I want to thank you for the
activity and for sharing your work. Good job.

✉ teachmeteachthat 2017-01-02 11:38:39

This activity enables to work on basic job

descriptions and make sure students remember
job labels. If kids work in pairs, the pictures can
help those who don't understand the descriptions.
One will end the right picture and the other one
should be able to remember the job label.

✉ PhilipR 2020-03-09 02:40:25

If you end the jobs or descriptions too

stereotypical, either change them or use them to
teach a lesson about stereotypes. I am aware
some may seem outdated in most of the western
world, but not in other parts of the world. This
worksheet is easily editable.

✉ Raka1000 2021-06-09 11:30:57

Fireeghters are usually good-looking as well ;)

Anyone triggered by "social justice warriors" can
move to a religious country (the women are SO
happy there, riiiight) where men throw acid in their
faces and women are forced to stay at home.
Sickos.

✉ dianagallo 2019-01-21 10:14:46

Some of the riddles are very gender speciec and

stereotypical. I think it's useful to teach students
that in certain parts of the world, women often
work doing many kinds of jobs, often jobs that are
speciecally for men in their country.

✉ Trang1910 2016-11-06 07:13:47

Many thanks for this awesome worksheet. This

helps my students a lot in checking and reviewing
their vocabularies. They can work in groups
effectively and their reading skill is developed so
much. Really appreciate your great work.

✉ Armando2569 2016-12-09 04:33:05

My students really liked to fullell this activity. But

there were two pictures where they had some
trouble. First is is a pólice oqcer or just a
policeman. The other one was about the Factory.
They couldn't egure it out.

✉ Petlacalco 2016-02-18 16:15:34

A very useful worksheet for 3rd grade. My

students love guessing words so this worksheet
was very helpful in my warm up. It also helped
them to pronounce words correctly every time
they read the riddles.rnThanks so much!

✉ kikiinvenice 2019-02-10 16:52:13

The effort you put in to creating worksheets is

wonderful. Thank you for saving the rest of us
many headaches and a lot of time! This one is
utterly perfect for an introduction to another
activity. Thank you so much..

✉ lagarrucha 2020-01-31 18:07:47

hello, i like your work, however the job about the

cabin-crew should be updated . we have men
cabin crew now and they don't have to always be
good-looking. thank you very much

✉ mijchristie 2016-12-10 00:18:36

This is a great idea for a game. It works well for

beginner students and it can be used with more
advanced students because there are some
interesting questions that can be asked. Thanks!
