Daily Devotional

Paul's message in Romans 10 is that while the Israelites were zealous for God, their zeal was not based on knowledge. He states that if one declares with their mouth that "Jesus is Lord" and believes in their heart that God raised Him from the dead, they will be saved. The passage warns that it is with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one professes faith and is saved. It commands that all who call on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Daily Devotional: Romans 10

Date: 10/16/2022

Message:
10 Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.
2
For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge.
3
Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not
submit to God’s righteousness.

Promise:
9
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the
dead, you will be saved.

Warning:
10
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess
your faith and are saved.

Command:
13
for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Application:
Paul tells us here that Jesus is Lord, and when God has led you to the place where you are ready to say
to yourself, Jesus is my Lord, He then acts conclusively. Through that confession God does something.
No man can do it, but God can. He immediately brings about all that is wrapped up in this word, saved.
Your sins are forgiven. God imparts to you a standing of righteous worth in his sight. He gives you the
Holy Spirit to live within you.

Wisdom:

Proverbs 16:2
All a person’s ways seem pure to them,
but motives are weighed by the LORD.
