Your immigration process in France as

VLS-TS “Salarié” (Employee)

STEP 1 – APPLICATION OF YOUR WORK PERMIT IN FRANCE

Processing time about 2 months, upon submission to the Labor Office.
• A job offer is published by your future employer on Pôle Emploi or APEC for 3 or 5 weeks,
depending on the situation (optional).
• We send you an interactive table with the list of documents for your work permit application.
• We also gather all documents required, provide drafts and forms, and handle the certified
translations in France.
• Once the file is complete, we submit your work permit application to the French administration.
• We follow up until the approval of the work permit and inform you and your HR.

During that step, you cannot start working in France.

STEP 2 – APPLICATION AT THE CONSULATE OF FRANCE, IN YOUR COUNTRY OF RESIDENCY, OF THE

“EXTENDED-STAY VISA WITH RESIDENCY PERMIT” (”VLS-TS”)
Processing time of the French Consulate: 1 week to 1 month.
• The visa application is submitted to the Consulate of France in your country of residency.
• We set up the appointment at the Consulate of France, for the submission of your visa
application in person.
• We provide you with a guideline for your appointment at the Consulate of France with all
required documents and forms.
• The Consulate will deliver a 1-year visa.

Once you have collected your “extended-stay visa with residency permit”
(“VLS-TS”), you can enter France but the process is not completed.

STEP 3 - APPLICATION AT THE IMMIGRATION OFFICE (OFII) IN FRANCE, FOR THE MEDICAL EXAM AND
“OFII LABEL”. Only for long stay procedures (over 90 days in France).
Processing time about 3 months upon arrival.
• Once you have your permanent address in France, we send you the list of documents needed.
• We gather all documents required, provide drafts for letters and forms.
• We send your application file to the OFII (French Immigration Office).
• The OFII will send an appointment notification.
• The same day, you will attend a medical exam and will also get your “OFII label” affixed to your
passport. The “OFII label” gives a validity of resident permit to your 1-year visa.
• Children (under 18 years old) do not have to attend a medical exam. Their visas directly have a 1-
year validity.
TRAVEL CONDITIONS – PLEASE READ IT CAREFULLY: At the end of the process, you hold a VLS-TS (visa +
“OFII label”) that allows you to travel in and out of France, as many times as you want.

Your VLS-TS is valid in the Schengen area (90 days per 180-day period).

The VLS-TS consists of two documents in your passport: your long stay visa valid a year (left) and your OFII
label (right).

As the visa and the OFII label are equivalent to a resident permit, you must carry your passport with
you at all times.
