SECONDARY
GENERAL GUIDELINES
1. One entry per school in every contest.
2. Participant can join in two (2) or more contest/event.
3. Participants should not be a Grand winner of any national or international competition
4. Participants must be bonafide learners from JHS and/or SHS of the school. Proof of
enrollment or Certification form the Principal shall be provided to the DAFOT committee.
5. The participation (rehearsals and performances) of the contestants are voluntary and
supported with parent/guardian’s permit.
6. Performers should not wear any attire with the name/identification of the school.
7. Order of performances in every contest will be decided the committee Chairman. One
point deduction per violation from the total scores.
8. The different contest will be categorized as follows:
a. Newly Nationalized (EO 189) & Integrated School
b. Big, Large and Mega School.
9. Any violation from the contest mechanics shall be subject to corresponding deductions.
10. Links will be provided (through a memorandum) for the Pre-registration of Entries
on or before February 10,2023 until 12 midnight.
11. Minimum health requirements and guidelines of IATF MUST be strictly followed. The use
of face mask must be observed at all times, during rehearsals and performances.
12. Winners will be awarded with certificate of recognition per event.
13. The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.

Component Area Music
Event / Contest Solo Instrument
Guidelines and Mechanics
1. The participant plays a solo instrument (woodwind, brass wind, percussion, and
stringed) of Filipino Composition.
2. The participant plays the instrumental composition without any back-up,
accompaniment or background music.
3. The piece should be one straight composition.
4. The title of the piece must be submitted to the judges before the performance.
5. Performance shall be 3-6 minutes.
Criteria for Judging
Clarity of Tone ------------------------------- 35%

Component Area Dance
Event / Contest Ballroom Dance
Guidelines and Mechanics
1. The contest mechanics is open to all students from Grade 7-12.
2. One entry/pair per school only.
3. Participants must wear appropriate and decent attire of their own choices. Daring
costume is not permitted.
4. Participants will perform the following sequence:
a. Swing(1minute)
b. Cha Cha Cha (1minute)
c. Tango (1minute)
5. The contest piece shall be a remix music following the prescribed dance.
6. Criteria for Judging
a. MASTERY (Synchronization & Coordination) 40%
b. EXECUTION and STYLE 40%
(Basic Pattern, rhythm and timing, proper execution of footwork, head, arm and
body movement through dance variation. Alignment, framework and proper
presentation of dance position; to include smoothness to follow through from
movement to position and vice versa.
c. COSTUME 20%
(Male Attire- Black Shoes)
(Dancing Shoes- 2.5 inches – 3 inches)

Guidelines and Mechanics
1. No instruments are permitted; only sounds made using the human anatomy.
2. Performance must be in one single take, should be 1 minute 30 seconds to 2 minutes.
3. Participants may use microphone/lapel.
4. Participants must wear appropriate attire of their choice.
5. Contestant must wear appropriate attire.
Criteria for Judging:
Originality (New, innovative,
thoughtful, bold, adventurous, story telling) -25 %
Musicality (Tone, volume, tempo, musical elements,
consistent, flow) -25 %
Technique (Mechanical ability, mic control, complicated
structures & time signatures ) -25 %
Showmanship (Well rehearsed, clinical execution,
entertaining, confidence, battle mentality) -25 %

Component Area Dance
Event / Contest Hiphop Dance
Guidelines and Mechanics
1. Each group shall have 6-12 members who may either composed of all male or female, or
a combination of both.
2. Free choice of Music as long it is not political, vulgar and offensive.
3. Performance should have a minimum of three (3) minutes and a maximum of five (5)
minutes.
4. Routine must consist primarily of hip hop techniques such as street dance, freestyle,
punk, pop-n-rock.
5. Decency of costumes must be observed accordingly. No political, alcohol, tobacco or
drug advertisements, are to be shown on any clothing or part of the performance.
Removing of pieces of clothes during performance is allowed provided it is not offensive
or out of character.
6. Dangerous routines (stunts, tumbling, throwing, body dropping, rolls and the likes) are
NOT ALLOWED to avoid any untoward accidents or injuries and will be deemed
disqualified.
7. Only hand props are allowed. Use of pyrotechnics, sharp objects, combustion machine
are discouraged.
8. Criteria for Judging:

Guidelines and Mechanics
1. The contest piece must be an Original Pilipino Music (OPM) composed by a Filipino
composer written in English or Filipino dialect.
2. The use of accompaniment such as minus one, tape recorder, keyboard instruments are
allowed.
3. The participant is free to choose a composition suited to his/her voice range.
4. Costume must be appropriate to the singer. Wearing revealing attire is not allowed.
Criteria for Judging:
Vocal Technique (Tone Quality, Breath Support,
Intonation, Diction and Articulation Rhythm & Tempo - 50%
Style and Performance (How well the performer is able to
express the meaning and mood of the song - 30%
Show Design (Music Selection, Effective use of Stage
and Performance Area, Outfit and style - 20%

Component Area Dance
Event / Contest Modern Contemporary
Guidelines and Mechanics
1. Participants shall showcase their best dance performance in duo (2 members) or group
(minimum of 3, maximum of 6 members).
2. A solo piece or medley contemporary music may be used (OPM or foreign).
3. Dance showcase should be minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 5 minutes
including entrance and exit.
4. Since the exhibition will be aired in an online platform, the music used should be royalty-
free and has no copyright issues.
5. Costumes shall be decent and avoid too much skin exposure of the learner.
6. Performers should avoid any close contact movement.
7. Criteria for Judging:
Performance - 50 %

Choreography - 30 %
(composition, creativity, originality and style)

Component Area Dance
Event / Contest Folk Dance
Guidelines and Mechanics:
1. The contest piece is a Pangasinan wedding dance “Panangabalayan”
2. Each group must have a minimum of five (5) pairs and a maximum of seven (7) pairs.
3. Cross-dressing is NOT allowed.
4. The entrance must depict Pangasinense's unique wedding practice in the olden days. This portion
of the performance will be judged and given weight in the criteria.
5. Only props or implements related to the dance literature are allowed to be used in the
performance. Using bulky props is highly discouraged to avoid consuming too much time in
setting up and retrieval.
6. All participating groups will perform the same piece of music. This includes a 3-minute dance
dramatization for the entrance and 32 measures for the exit. It is NOT allowed to remove or
modify any part of it.

Guidelines and Mechanics
1. There shall be a maximum of 2 student participants per entry.
2. The 2 students will perform – 1 Solo Singer and 1 Accompanist (Acoustic Guitar) – who are
also the composers.
3. Songwriter/s should not have published works in any paid formats channel/ website/
recording studio.
4. Songs must be written in Filipino and or English.
5. The songwriter/s may choose any type of music genre (ballad, rock etc.) for his/her
composition.
6. Five (5) hand written composition with the lyrics and chords must be submitted to the contest
administrators
7. Performers shall wear any appropriate and comfortable attire with no school identification
like printed name of school, school logo, etc.
Criteria for Judging
A. SONG WRITING
Lyrics (Relevance to the Theme) - 25%
Music (Arrangement and Melody) - 25%
Originality - 15%
B. PERFORMANCE

3. Group performers should be at least 2 -15 members.
4.Performance shall be 3-6 minutes.

Guidelines and Mechanics:
1. Acapella is a performance without instrumental accompaniment.
2. Performers should compose of at least 8-15 members.
3. Performance shall be 3-5 minutes purely choral singing (Voice beatbox is not allowed).
4. Performers should render one straight composition on their own choice. It can be
Folksong, Kundiman or OPM.
Criteria for Judging:

Guidelines and Mechanics
1. The participating band should have a minimum of two (2) members and a
maximum of three (3).
2. The participating band must perform one cover song of their choice and
bring their own instrument.
3. The participating band will be given 7 minutes, including the setup of
instruments. One (1) point will be deducted to their score in every minute in
excess.
