CIRCULATORY
SYSTEM
By: Nabira Maharani Gurusinga and Amirah Khairiyah Tanjung
The Function
Serves to circulate food substances
throughout the body. Food substances
are useful for growth, replace damaged
cell and for the move
Circulatory component
1. Blood vessels (macro)
a. Artery
Are blood vessels that flow blood out of the heart.
When in the tissue, a small branched artery called an
arteriole. Arteries are elastic, and blood flows in high
pressure because of direct pumping from the heart
b. Capillaries blood vessels
Generally, capillaries cover tissue cells, because they are
directly connected to the cells, and capillaries are
places where a substance exchange occurs
C. Veins
It's a vein that flows blood back to the heart.
Veins that spread across small branches called
venules
d. Blood
1. Red blood cells
2. White blood cells
3. Platelets
e. Cor (Heart)
2. The general structure of blood vessels
-Tunika Media
-tunica intime Consists of: thin layers (lamellae) of smooth
It consists of: Sprawl epithelium and muscle arranged concentric
Subendothelial layer There are capillaries and venules post capillary
Cell: Endothelium
There are arteries -Tunika Adventisisa
Consists of: collagen fiber and elastic fiber
Primary Cells: Fibroblasts and Macrophages
a. Artery
elastic arteri muscular arteri arteriole
b. Capillary
a. Continuous (type I), capillaries have relatively thick cytoplasm and the capillary wall is continuous.
b.Fenestrated (type II), capillaries have extremely thin cytoplasm.
c. Sinusoidal capillaries are larger in diameter than the other.
c. Veins
large veins medium veins venule
3. The general structure of heart
a. Endocardium
inner surface of a simple squamous
epithelium (endothelium) supported by
only a few connective tissue fibers
b. Myocardium
cardiac muscle responsible for the
pumping action of the heart. It also
contains blood vessels, nerves and
adipose cells
c. Epicardium
outer surface of mesothelial cells (missing
on this specimen) supported by dense
irregular connective tissue
