Scantlings and Section Modulus Calculation
The following calculation are based from Philippine Register of Shipping (PRS),
Rules for the Construction and Classification of Steel Vessel and Under 60 meters in
length for the classification of the proposed vessel.
Particulars:
Length Overall = 36 m
Length Between Perpendicular = 32 m
Breadth = 6 m
Depth = 3 m
Draft = 1.41m
CENTER KEELSON (PRS 2017,Ch.E,Sec 5-5.01) pp.87
t = 0.06 L + 6.2 mm, for 0.4 L amidships
= 0.06 (32) + 6.2
= 7.8 mm
Therefor use,
t = 8 mm
t = 0.05 L + 5.5 mm, for 0.1 L at ends
t = 0.05 (32) + 5.5
t = 7.1
therefor use,
t = 6mm
A = 0.5 L + 2 cm2
Where = 0.5 L + 2 cm2
= 0.5 x 32 + 2 cm2
A = 18 cm2
