Application for a long-term visa (D visa)

 Use this form to apply for a long-term visa (D visa) to Finland. A long term-visa must be
applied for abroad, before travelling to Finland. You must visit a Finnish mission (embassy or
consulate) to prove your identity.
 Attach a valid travel document and a passport photo to the application.

1. For instructions on submitting the application, on processing fees and on the

attachments required, see migri.fi/d-visa.

2. Fill in the form carefully. Remember to sign the form. Incomplete information will delay
the processing of your application and may lead to your application being rejected.

The attachments needed for the application are listed on this form under
‘Attachments’.

3. Submit your application at a Finnish mission abroad (finlandabroad.fi).

4. The application is subject to a fee. Pay the processing fee when you submit the
application. We cannot process your application before you have paid the fee.
 You may be granted a D visa to enter Finland if you wish to have your residence permit card
sent to Finland when you are applying for, or have been granted, one of the following residence
permits:
• residence permit for a specialist;
• EU Blue Card;
• residence permit for a start-up entrepreneur;
• residence permit for work in the top or middle management of a company;
• residence permit for a specialist or manager on the basis of intra-corporate transfer ('ICT
permit');
• residence permit for studies;
• residence permit for a researcher;
• residence permit for a family member of a person issued with one of the above-
mentioned permits.
 If your employer has obtained employer certification, you and your family members may be
able to apply for a D visa. See which residence permits this option concerns: migri.fi/d-visa.
 You may also be granted a D visa if you have a valid residence permit but your residence
permit card is lost, stolen, expired or for some other reason not available to you. In that case,
you must provide a document as proof of the loss of your residence permit card.
