Job title: Maintenance Technician

Job Grade: C1

Duration: Permanent
Department: Technical

Reports to: Chief Technical Officer

Supervision: None

Duty Station: Project Site – Marsabit County

LTWP seeks to hire a Maintenance Technician who shall be responsible for for the maintenance activities of
the plant. These include turbine fleets, dynamic reactive power compensators, collector network, auxiliaries,
switchgear, transformer & plant inventory.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Perform timely and optimized predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance works around the
power plant equipment.
2. Preparation of timely maintenance related reports and records in consultation with maintenance
supervisor.
3. Ensure all health, safety and environment practices, policies, and procedures are adhered to. Comply
with work permit and lockout system before commencement of work and ensure proper permit
close-out after work completion.
4. Support in reviewing and implementation of the assigned engineering tasks & projects in consultation
with the maintenance supervisor.
5. Support the maintenance supervisor in developing and implementation of maintenance strategies,
plans, procedures, and budgets to ensure sustainable operations.
6. To support the behaviour of working as LTWP, sharing best practice, and collaborating with
colleagues outside of own sphere of business.
7. To ensure full participation in the Performance Appraisal Review (PAR) process and maintain an up-
to-date record of all training and development activities/programs.
8. To always act and behave in a way compliant with all LTWP company guidelines and policies, especially
those relating to values and behaviours, environmental health and safety, ethics and codes of conduct,
as it is through living our values that we strengthen the culture of our business and demonstrate our
understanding of our Code of Conduct.
9. Any other duties deemed necessary and relevant by the management in the smooth running of the
Wind Farm Site operations.

The above duties and responsibilities may vary from time to time and include any other responsibilities that
arise during the company's day-to-day business.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

i. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized institution in any of the following engineering
disciplines or equivalent qualification:
▪ Electrical & Electronics Engineering
▪ Mechanical Engineering.
ii. At least three years of relevant working experience on the overhead line equipment.
iii. Other qualifications in engineering courses, safety, and leadership would be an added advantage.

COMPETENCIES

▪ Applies in-depth understanding of the value drivers of the Company, to improve effectiveness &
profitability.
Other relevant competences required for the role include:
▪ Experience in MS Office and computerised maintenance programs.
▪ Ability to interpret electrical drawings, process flow charts, hydraulic systems, pneumatics schematics
and troubleshoot faults.
▪ Understanding of Power system Grid layout.
▪ Good communication skills.
▪ Good interpersonal skills
