ILLUSTRATION OF ACTIVITIES
DAY 1
Today was my first day doing hands-on learning at the Bureau of Fire Protection
(BFP). It was really cool. They welcomed us and told us about what they do and
how they started. We watched a video about how hard the BFP people work to save
lives and stop fires. It was amazing to see how much they care about their job.
They taught us how to march today, which was fun. Overall, it was a great first
day. I can't wait to learn more and have more experiences here.
DAY 2
Today was a busy day at the BFP. We learned how to properly roll a
hose, which they call "hose rolling" at BFP. This skill is important for
firefighters to know because it helps keep the hose organized and ready
for use during emergencies. Overall, today was a great learning
experience at BFP, and I gained valuable skills that I'll remember for a
long time.
DAY 3
Today was my third day working at BFP. After our training on how to
line up properly, we learned how to pull a rope or BRT correctly.
Knowing the right way to pull a rope is really important at BFP. I'll
make sure to do it the right way by following the instructions carefully.
It was a good day at BFP, and I'm looking forward to what tomorrow
will bring. We also had a fire call and rushed to the fire in Rosca. I'm
proud of myself and everyone else because we used what we learned.
The teamwork was great! Overall, today was a fantastic learning day at
BFP, and I learned skills I'll never forget.
DAY 4
Today began with a morning lecture. We learned about the fireman’s rules and why
it's crucial to follow safety steps during fires and emergencies. The session taught
us how important firefighters are for our safety. We also practiced evaluating fire
techniques. Overall, it was a valuable learning day. We appreciate having
knowledgeable mentors to guide us during our training. We're excited for more
hands-on training and activities soon!
DAY 5
Today is Friday, the end of our first week working with the Bureau of Fire
Protection (BFP). We were all excited to learn new things and have fun before the
weekend. We had a presentation, a dance performance that was really enjoyable.
We also showed our talents and stepped out of our comfort zones. During the
week, we learned about different ways to roll hoses. There are four types: straight
donut rolls, donut rolls, twin donut rolls, and self-locking hose rolls. It was a
productive and enjoyable week, and we appreciated the chance to learn from
experienced firefighters. We're looking forward to next week, hoping to learn more
about firefighting.
DAY 6
Today marks the beginning of our second week working with the Bureau of Fire
Protection (BFP). We're eager to keep learning about firefighting and improve our
skills. In the morning, we went over what we've learned so far. We had an open
discussion where we sat in a circle and Sir Pajardo asked us questions. We also got
to ask him questions. It was a good day, and we learned a lot from our review and
hands-on activities. We're excited about the rest of the week and learning more
from our experienced BFP mentors.
DAY 7
Today is our seventh day of work experience. It's a holiday, so we can't
go to our work placement. It's a good day to relax, even though we miss
learning some techniques at the Bureau of Fire Protection. Still, I'm
thankful for the rest.
DAY 8
On the eighth day of our job training, we welcomed back our local
beauty queen, Maria Giganti, to our island. We were there to see her
return. Day 8 was a good day. I learned about firefighting skills and had
a great time watching the pride of Santa Fe, Maria Giganti.
DAY 9
On my ninth day of work experience, the office was buzzing with people
laughing and talking. They gave us a special lesson on CPR. CPR is
important because it can save lives by helping someone breathe again if
their heart stops. After the training, we had a great time learning and
understanding its significance, especially for firefighter.
DAY 10
On the 10th day of my work experience, we had our last day. Everyone was happy
but also a bit sad that it was ending. I felt good knowing that my hard work during
the experience paid off. We had a marching competition in the morning. The group
that did the best would win a prize of one thousand pesos. We came in second
place. In the morning, we practiced for a dance contest. In the afternoon, we
performed our dance and luckily, we got second place in that too. It was a mix of
happy and sad feelings because we knew it was our last day together. Before
leaving, we thanked our mentors for helping us. I learned a lot about fire safety and
working together at the Bureau of Fire Protection. I'm thankful for this chance and
can't wait to use what I learned in the future.
