 The Kanwar Lake In Bihar's Begusarai District Was Designated As The State’s First Ramsar
Site In 2020.

 Nagi Bird Sanctuary Was Notified As The 81st Ramsar Site Of India. The Nagi Wetland Area,
Spread Over 791 Hectares In The Jamuai District Of Bihar, Is a Man-Made Site Created By
Constructing a Dam On The Nagi River.

 Nakti Bird Sanctuary Is The 82nd Ramasar Site In India. It Is Also a Man-Made Site Created
By Nakti Dam And Is Spread Across 332 Hectares.

 India Has 3rd Largest Number Of Ramsar Sites In The World.

 India And China Jointly Hold The Third-Largest Number Of Ramsar Sites In The World, With
82 Sites Each.

 The United Kingdom Leads The List With 175 Sites, While Mexico Is Second With 144 Sites
.
 India Ratified The Ramsar Convention In 1982.

1. The First Indian Wetland Sites Included In The Convention Were Chilika Lake (Odisha) And
Keoladeo National Park (Rajasthan) In 1981.

2. Amongst The States, Tamil Nadu Has 16 Sites, Followed By Uttar Pradesh, Which Has 10.
3. Largest Ramsar Site In India: Sunderban Of West Bengal
4. Smallest Ramsar Site In India: Renuka In Himachal Pradesh
