REASON/DESCRIPTION/OPERATIONAL CONSEQUENCES
In the May 2013 AMM revision, an incorrect AFT pylon bolt torque value was introduced in AMM Task
71-00-00-400-040-A01 "Installation of the Power Plant with Engine Positioner TWW 75E" used only for
CFM56-5A engine model.
The correct torque value to be mentioned in this AMM Task should be 65.08-78.64 m.daN (480-580
lbf.ft) whereas it mentioned 43.39-47.45 m.daN (320-350 lbf.ft) in the May 2013 AMM revision.
This AMM Task has been corrected to reflect the correct torque value for AFT engine mounts in the
May 2014 AMM revision.
Pending availability of the AMM correction, a Temporary Revision (TR) 71-030 with correct information
is available since Mar 14/14.
The aim of this Service Bulletin is to re-torque the affected bolts at correct level to assure the
proper assembly performance and comply with current fatigue and damage tolerance certification
requirements.
Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin will contribute to avoid pylon bolts and beam holes fretting
damages and joint separation which would decrease their fatigue life and make the pylon bolts non-
compliant with certified maintenance program.

B. CONCURRENT REQUIREMENTS
None
C. REASON
(1) History
In the May 2013 AMM revision, an incorrect AFT pylon bolt torque value was introduced
in AMM Task 71-00-00-400-040-A01 "Installation of the Power Plant with Engine
Positioner TWW 75E" used only for CFM56-5A engine model.
The correct torque value to be mentioned in this AMM Task should be 65.08-78.64
m.daN (480-580 lbf.ft) whereas it mentioned 43.39-47.45 m.daN (320-350 lbf.ft) in the
May 2013 AMM revision.
This AMM Task has been corrected to reflect the correct torque value for AFT engine
mounts in the May 2014 AMM revision.
Pending availability of the AMM correction, a Temporary Revision (TR) 71-030 with
correct information is available since Mar 14/14.
(2) Objective/Action
The aim of this Service Bulletin is to re-torque the affected bolts at correct level to
assure the proper assembly performance and comply with current fatigue and damage
tolerance certification requirements.
(3) Advantages
Accomplishment of this Service Bulletin will contribute to avoid pylon bolts and beam
holes fretting damages and joint separation which would decrease their fatigue life and
make the pylon bolts non-compliant with certified maintenance program.

F. APPROVAL
The technical content of this document is approved under the authority of Design
Organization Approval No. EASA.21J.031.
If an aircraft listed in the effectivity has a modification or repair embodied that is not of
AIRBUS origin, and which affects the content of this Service Bulletin, the operator is
responsible for obtaining approval by its airworthiness authority for any adaptation necessary
before incorporation of the Service Bulletin.
G. MANPOWER
The manpower estimates given in this Service Bulletin are based on the direct labor cost to
do the work. These estimates assume that the work will be done by experienced personnel,
and may need to be revised upwards to suit operator’s circumstances. The estimates do not
include the time to prepare, plan or inspect the work. Manufacture and procurement of parts
and tools, drying times for paints, sealants, etc., and general administration work are also not
included.
