CITY OF THE FUTURE

I. Intro (BM)
1. Definition
- Historically, great city are often founded be great leader,
Alexandra by Alexander the Great, babylon by
Nebuchadnezzar II
- First up let define what is a ”future city”
- A future city is not just any city in the future, but a city that
has good social welfare , a city that has the solutions to
many conundrums that are challenging current cities. A city
that, somewhat, flawless, a city where crime doesn’t exist, a
city where every child get adequate education, a city where
pollution, racism, sex discrimination, doesn’t exist. A dream
city for everybody.
- That’s is our definition for the term “city in the future

II. What will the city in the future be like ?(Dũng)

Now, our ideal city future should be able

1. t talk about the difficulties city in the present have to face:

- Right off the bat I gotta say our first difficulty is the unwillingness
to change. Hanoi’s dwellers have no awareness of how run-down
our city has slowly become so far, so they’re mostly fine with the
current situation. Not to mention, the local government takes
forever to take Let’s firsaction, with the same reason as I have
mentioned before: their awareness.
- Move on to the second problem we are facing: overpopulation.
It’s been happening for decades, I’m not lying, as Hanoi’s the city
with the most population recorded in Vietnam, as cities offer more
job opportunities and positions, and better health care and
educational services compared to the countryside.
- Next up, another difficulty is obviously financial limitation.
Large-scale improvements require substantial financial investment,
and may take years to complete. And like I’ve mentioned before,
it’s also because of people’s unwillingness for changes. If this is
not solved soon, it’s gonna take us forever to make a change.
2. Will the city OF the future be able to solve that, how?(Dũng)
- THE CITY IN THE FUTURE WILL OR WILL NOT HAVE THESE
DIFFICULTIES? IF YES, HOW WOULD IT BE:..
- So first off, we need to actually show the benefits of changes to
our city toward those stubborn people. Let’s talk about quick wins.
It means starting with small, visible changes (like a community
garden) that show immediate benefits, helping people see the
value of larger changes.

- 2ndly, to solve overpopulation, one of the most effective

strategies is through family planning. By increasing access to
contraceptives and reproductive health services, individuals can
make informed choices about the number and timing of their
children, ultimately reducing fertility rates

- Move on to financial limitations: The basic principle of all saving

schemes is to invest efficiently. Thus we should prioritize subtle,
austere, but practical factors that make citizens' lives better, such
as fixing sidewalks, especially after the recent storm, or adding
bike lanes for cyclists. Only then should we spend money on other
arrays such as developing community parks, enhancing public
transportation systems, or investing in renewable energy projects.
This approach ensures that our financial resources are directed
towards building a resilient and sustainable community, ultimately
improving the quality of life for all citizens.

Another easy thing to do is seek partnerships, both online and

offline. By online, I mean collaborating with businesses or, yeah,
KOLs to promote the project or share costs.

3. What more will the city of the future have that is better than the
current cities?
- apart from fixing all the downsides of the
current city like Dũng have said, the city of
the future would also optimize things that
current city have already did good
The future cities we envision will be more convenient, sustainable,
and smarter than ever before. Let me walk you through some of
the exciting transformations we expect to see:
First, Im going to talk about smarter public transportation. Public
transportation systems will be revolutionized. With the help of AI
and real- time data, people will be provided with the fastest and the
most suitable route. From there, traffic congestion and traffic
accidents will be significantly reduced.
Secondly, there will be more sustainable green living places. In the
future, people will build more parks and green spaces to tackle the
problem of urban heat and air quality. Beside, they will also tend to
use more renewable energy to lower carbon emissions.
And finally, in the future, there will be an advanced healthcare
system. Telemedicine systems will make sure that people can
access to medical services wherever they are. Not only that, AI will
support doctors in predicting and preventing disease outbreaks
more effectively.

4. How will they be able to achieve that?

- 1stly, it’s crucial to make the most of the prevailing smart city
technologies on the market. For instance, the IoT devices allows
cities to become a true network of connected objects (environment
quality, waste sensors, surveillance cameras and smart lights,
among others). This being the case, such devices are able to
establish a communication between various disruptive solutions to
exchange data and provide real-time information to the citizen.
- Moreover, the environmental aspect is paramount to attain a true
sustainable city. Prioritizing the renewable energies (such as solar
or wind power), increasing green spaces, improving the public
transportation options and infrastructure for walking/biking,
implementing the recycling programs and encouraging the
sustainable practices in homes and businesses are some among
-
the great recommendations for the cities to achieve the goals in
the future
- Lastly, to create healthy cities for the residents, governments
should put more effort into creating a health supportive
environment, achieving good quality of life, providing basic
sanitation and hygiene needs and supplying health care access to
the city dwellers.
5. Are there any downsides or unsolvable problems in the city of the
future?
a. First and foremost one is the overreliance on technology.
This could lead to vulnerabilities in critical systems, such as
power grids or transportation networks, which could disrupt
daily life if they were to fail. In addition, the loss of the human
connection is also one of the negative possibilities of the
overreliance on technology. People are likely to keep the
feelings of isolation or detachment among the city dwellers
b. Also, the development of future cities might exacerbate the
wealth inequality. The high-tech infrastructures may only be
accessible to the wealthy, creating a divide between the
privileged and marginalized population.
