Overall, my Family Genogram is healthy.
My grandmother is the only one who has had
challenging medical issues, such as breast cancer, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. During her
breast cancer, she had to receive routine analysis and various radiations and chemotherapies. She was
diagnosed with stage 2 and fortunately was treated after about a year. Today she continues to get
routine lab work, breast exams, and mammograms. With her hypertension and hyperlipidemia, she
maintains her weight, walks daily, takes daily medications, and maintains a healthy diet such as eating
low sodium and eating more fruits and vegetables. My other grandmother lost her life at age 34 due to
lung cancer, I don’t know her exact history, but she died in Mexico. Healthcare in her country was not
routine and was hard to find so she never received the correct treatment to do so. My grandpa is overall
healthy but is an alcoholic and he is 86 years old. He could face conditions such as heart disease,
hypertension, liver issues, or a stroke. My other grandfather passed at 90 years in Mexico due to a hip
fall. I am not sure of his medical history, but I assume he might have had osteoporosis due to a quick
death
. The remaining of my family is overall healthy, it’s important to do routine lab work, keep
immunizations up to date, and do routine screening based on their age. Important screening to do at all
ages is depression screening, smoking preventatives, alcohol prevention, exercise, and correct diet. For
example my siblings 12-20 years should receive STD screenings, drug and alcohol screening? And mental
health screenings. My sister and son who are under 12 years of age should be up to date on
immunizations, take fall risk meadures, and safety measures, such as drowning or wearing a helmets .
My family that runs from 20-40 years should receive Pap smears, mammograms , prostate screening. My
family that runs 40 years and up should receive colonoscopy screenings, blood pressure, lipid, and
routine lab works. Throughout all ages it’s important to exercise, maintain an healthy diet, limit alcohol
and smoking and continue to receive routine lab work.
