Course Objective:
This course is based on the system of teaching the Aṣṭādhyāyī of Pāṇini using the Aṣṭādhyāyī-krama.
This is one of the streams of the Pāṇinian tradition and a way of working with the text to study the
4000 odd sutras of the text in the fastest and the easiest way. This method will allow students to
appreciate how the text packs a maximal semantic payload into the smallest possible syntactic space,
a minimal syllabary. Students will be able to- easily identify the prakṛti-s, pratyaya-s, ādeśa-s, āgama-
s, etc., and their workings in śloka-s and other general usages; easily understand the important texts of
Vyākaraṇa, like Siddhāntakaumudī, Prauḍhamanoramā, etc.; easily enter into different śāstra-s like
Nyāya, Vedānta, Mīmāṃsā, etc. This is developed as a separate endeavour of the University.
