Introduction to
Hydroponic Farming
Hydroponic farming is a soil-less cultivation technique that significantly reduces water usage. The
popularity of hydroponics is on the rise, thanks to its ability to produce high-quality yields while
efficiently managing resources.
Hydroponic systems offer several advantages, including Water Efficiency, Higher yeild, Weed Control and
simplified crop management.
There are six types of hydroponic farming techniques:
1. Deep Water Culture (DWC) Systems
2. Nutrient Film Technique (NFT) Systems
3. Ebb and Flow (Flood and Drain) Systems
4. Wick
5. Drip Systems
6. Aeroponics Systems

Research Gaps
There isn't much comprehensive data available in the literature about its growth and
yield capabilities
Majority of studies focus on particular crops, geographical variables, or the technical
features of hydroponics systems
A comprehensive comparison of hydroponic systems and their overall productivity
across a variety of crops and environmental conditions is lacking
Studies lack long-term data on the viability and scalability.
Necessity for more extensive empirical study that compares the growth and yield
capabilities of different techniques in diverse climatic conditions and farming
environments

Research Questions
Based on the research gaps, we arrived at the following research questions:
How do different hydroponic systems (e.g., NFT, deep water culture, aeroponics, etc.)
compare in terms of crop yield and resource efficiency across various crop types?
How do varying climatic conditions (temperature, humidity, light levels) affect the
productivity and growth rates of crops in different hydroponic systems?
How do hydroponic systems compare in terms of water, nutrient, and energy
efficiency across various crops and environmental conditions?
What are the optimal hydroponic system configurations of climate factors like pH,
nutrient levels, light intensity etc for maximizing growth and yield for specific high-
demand crops tomatoes, herbs etc?
What is the potential growth for hydroponic farming?

Objective and Problem Statement
The main aim of this research paper is to analyze the Yield and market growth performance of
hydroponic farming in the Global market.
To achieve this, the following objectives are developed
Study the difference in yield produced and water efficiency.
Study the costs related to performing hydroponic farming methods.
Analyze the global hydroponic market growth using primary and secondary data.
PROBLEM STATEMENT - There is lack of study in the area of yield and market growth
performance of hydroponic farming and this research aims to quantify the yield improvements
and water efficiency of hydroponic systems.
