III. PROBLEM PRESENTED
The client’s problem is struggling with financial difficulties. She is
a solo parent so it is difficult for her to support the education of her
children and their daily life needs.
IV. BACKGROUND INFORMATION
A. The Client
The client is known as "Hazra" or "Anti Haz" in their
neighborhood. The client is currently a pastil vendor. Due to having
low educational attainment and the fact that they only live in a small
barangay, she can only settle for this kind of occupation. She gains
300-350 pesos per day but it depends if all of her pastil will be sold.
As a solo parent she is the only one whose providing for their family's
daily needs and as well as for her children's schooling. Her late
husband died due to stroke at the age of 50.
When the client's husband was still alive he used to work as a
fisherman to support their family but when the tragic incident
happen they are forced to be on their own. It doesn't help that all of
their savings before are used for her late husband's hospital bill and
burial. In the present time the client are having a difficulty on making
enough money to accommodate her family's necessities.
According to the client there are times where she doesn't have
anything in terms of money so she tried to seek help on her relatives
but it happened that they are also in lack of money and they can't do
anything to help the client and her children.
B. The Family
The client is married to Esmael Edzrafil, 50 years old. The client
and her husband are married for almost 14 years. Sadly her husband
died due to stroke 3 years ago, making her widowed and a solo
parent to their 3 children.
The client's oldest daughter is 14 years old and a Grade 8
student, Hannan helps the client on their small business but she also
needs to attend to school so she can barely help the client. The client
wants so make their business bigger but it does not help that they
live in a small place and not so much costumers passes by.
The client has 3 children who are all currently studying. She
doesn't want them to stop even though it is very hard for her to
provide as a solo parent. The children are patient enough to
understand the situation despite the fact that sometimes they are
not able to pay and submit some of their school fees and projects
due to the lack of money.
C. The Environment
The client and her children live in Brgy. Mileb, Rajah Buayan
Maguindanao. Their house is made of pure wood materials. It is a
small house with only two rooms where the client's 2 daughters sleep
and the other one is where the client is sleeping with her youngest
child. Despite this, the client is thankful because they own the house
as well as the land where it is build because she said that it is the
only property that her late husband left for her and and their
children.
The client and her children have no water pump leading them to
only use a balloon-well in the back of their house and use it as their
source of water. They also connect electricity into one of their
neighbor and pay 200 pesos per month for their electricity bills.
The client disclosed that they also have no comfort room and
they only use a sacks of rice and build a small room to use it as their
shower room beside the balloon-well.
V. ASSESSMENT STATEMENT
The client showed that having insufficient income makes it hard
for them to survive their everyday living. It also affects her children's
education in a way that sometimes they can't go to school because
they don't have any "baon" or meals for the day.
The client's children are all minors and still studying so they can
barely help the client for their small business. The client works hard
to at least save money to make it as capital to make their business
grow bigger but the income always comes short for daily needs and
school fees especially that in the present time the products and
goods are all very expensive.
If the client will be given a small capital, she could start a more
formal and stable business specifically a sari-sari store that can gain
bigger income and can somehow be enough for the family's needs.
As for the client's children, a grant of educational assistance can
be a very big help so it can ensure them to continue their studies.
Access to these various services will be big aid for the client and
her family to go through their crisis and uplift their standard of living.
It can ensure the future of her children, as the grant of educational
assistance can help them to finish their studies.
