INFO AND TIPS


Modified granny stitch: (2dc in ch sp, ch1) to end.
Sc2tog (single crochet 2 together): Insert hook, yo and draw up a loop, insert hook into next
st, yo and draw up a loop, yo and draw through 3 loops on hook.

RIGHT SIDE
**Using yarn A, ch 103 (109, 115, 121, 127, 133, 139, 145, 151) and join to first ch with sl st

Row 1 (RS): Work dc into 4th ch (counts as 1st dc + ch1), dc in next ch, (ch1, sk 1 ch, dc in
next 2 sts) up side and around loop, then work into other side of foundation ch matching

Row 1 (WS): With WS facing, join yarn B in same space, ch3 (counts as dc), (1dc, ch1, 2dc) in
same space for corner, (ch1, 2dc in each row) to opposite corner, (2dc, ch1, 2dc) into corner,
(ch1, 2dc) 20 (24, 28, 32, 36, 40, 44, 52, 60) times into row ends to starting corner, ch1, join
to beg ch with sl st, turn.
Row 2 (RS): Ch3 (counts as dc), [patt to corner, (2dc, ch1, 2dc) into corner] twice, work in
patt to beg ch, join with sl st, turn.
Work 4 (4, 4, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6, 6) more rows in the same manner as row 2.

Change to yarn A.
Work 3 (3, 3, 3, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5) more rows in the same manner as row 2. Fasten off.**

Right Front Neck


With RS facing, rejoin yarn at bottom right corner.

Turn.
Row 2 (WS): Ch3, (2dc, ch1) to end, dc in top of turning ch.

Right Back Neck


With RS facing, count 8 (8, 10, 10, 10, 12, 12, 14, 14) ch spaces at top of right front neck, join

LEFT SIDE
Work as for Right Side from ** to **.

Left Back Neck


With RS facing, join yarn at bottom left corner.
Row 1 (RS): Ch3, (2dc, ch1) 43 (46, 48, 53, 56, 56, 56, 56, 57) times, 1dc into same last ch sp.
Turn.
Row 2: Ch3, (2dc, ch1) to end, dc in top of turning ch.
Work 3 (3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5) more rows in the same manner. Fasten off.

Left Front Neck


With RS facing, count 8 (8, 10, 10, 10, 12, 12, 14, 14) ch spaces at top of left back neck, join
yarn to next ch sp.
Row 1 (RS): Ch3, (2dc, ch1) to end, dc in top of ch, turn.
Row 2: Ch3, (2dc, ch1) to end, dc in top of ch, turn.
Work 3 (3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5) more rows in the same manner. Fasten off.

SLEEVES (both alike)


With WS facing, join yarn A at underarm.
Row 1: Ch3, (2dc in ch sp, ch1) around sleeve, join with sl st to beg ch, turn.
Rep Row 1 a further 12 times.

Change to yarn B and work 4 more rows.


Work 1 round sc. Fasten off.

FINISHING
Arrange the two pieces with the back neck rows together, and the right sides facing each
other. Join with sc.

Collar Stand
With RS of body facing, join yarn to right front neck notch, at the top of the right front neck
rows.
Row 1: Ch1, sc across back neck working 1sc into each st and 1sc into each ch sp, join to left
front neck row with sc2tog, turn.
Row 2: Ch1, sc to end, join to right front neck row with sc2tog, turn.
Row 3: Ch1, sc to end, join to left front neck row with sc2tog, turn.

Rep Rows 2-3 a further 3 (3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5) times until the collar stand is flush with the
front neck rows, working two sc2tog into each dc body row.

Collar
Row 1 (WS of collar, RS when worn): Ch3, 2dc in next st, 1dc in each st to final st, 3dc in
final st. 2 stitches increased.
Row 2: Ch1, sc in each st to end.
Rep Rows 1-2 twice more, then work Row 1 once more.
Note: Rows 1-2 can be repeated additional times to create a deeper collar.
Fasten off.

Edging and Buttonholes


Place markers along the left front edge to indicate button position.

Join yarn at left front neck (beside first dc row of collar) and work sc into each st down left
front, ch1 at corner, sc across bottom edge of cardigan, ch1 at corner, sc up right front
working (sk1 body st, ch4) at each marked button position, to collar edge. Fasten off.

Weave in ends and block. Sew buttons opposite buttonholes.
