Introduction
This SOP provides detailed instructions to safely upgrade the firmware on a Cisco Catalyst
switch.
Scope
The SOP is applicable for any Cisco Catalyst Switches inside Arrowhead customer
Customers Applicable
Arrowhead.
Prerequisites
Pre-Upgrade Checklist
1. Review the Current Environment:
Note the current firmware version and compare it with the target version.
Identify any dependencies or compatibility issues.
2. Verify Hardware and Software Compatibility:
Confirm that the new firmware version supports your switch model.
3. Backup Configurations:
Save the current running configuration to both the switch and an external location
(e.g., TFTP or FTP server):
#copy running-config startup-config
#copy startup-config tftp
4. Download Firmware: [Arrowhead Customer Will upload the new Firmware file to the TFTP
server and share the TFTP IP address with us]
Obtain the appropriate firmware image from Cisco’s official website.
Verify the integrity of the image by checking the MD5 or SHA256 checksum.

Performing pre-requisites.
Access to Stratogent Sophos VPN
Write access to BeyondTrust Privileged Remote Access of Arrowhead
Procedure
Arrowhead customer will share the TFTP IP address.
First copy the iso file to the switch:
Login to https://arrowhead-pra.beyondtrustcloud.com/login
Go to Administration> software management
Select transport type as TFTP : 172.18.10.63 and provide the File path:
cat9k_iosxe.17.09.05.SPA.bin
Click on Download and install

An prompt popup will appear and click Yes,
After successful upload,
Please use below command to verify Copied IOS file.
Switch#dir flash:*.bin
Switch#show flash:
After successful uploading of file , now upgradation procedure.
Login to https://arrowhead-pra.beyondtrustcloud.com/login
Go to Administration> Software Management
Select transport type as Device and select the file from file path

Select the file
And click on Save configuration and Activate
The device will reboot and it will activated to new version,
Test Plan
Verification procedure:
Login to https://arrowhead-pra.beyondtrustcloud.com/login
Go to Administration> Command line interface
Select Excute
After the software has been successfully installed,
use the dir flash: command to verify that the flash partition has ten new .pkg files and two .conf
files.
Switch# dir flash:*.pkg
Switch# dir flash:*.conf
Switch# show version
Verify that the latest version 17.9.05 is installed on both the device or not,
Verify that interfaces and uplinks are up not,
Verify the reachability to internet by ping 8.8.8.8
