Cube root Nearest cube value of 1 is 1.

Step 4: So, the cube root of 1331 is 11.

Now, let us solve some problems using the methods discussed.

Multiplying with 99, 999,

Multiply the given number to the nearest multiple of 10 (i.e. for
99, 100 is the nearest multiple of 10) and from the answer
subtract the same number.
Example: 63 x 99
(63 x 100) - (63 x 1) = 6237

Two-Digit Number Multiplication

Type 1: Butterfly Method

Finding the Square Root

Example: √1024

Step 1: Split the last two digits of the given number (10|24).

Step 2: There are two possibilities for last units digit to be 4 while
squaring a number (2 and 8).

Step 3: Then, find the nearest square value of the remaining

number.
Nearest square value of 10 is 9. So, we can take the square root Two numbers multiplication between 80 to 100
of 9 which is 3.
Now, the two possibilities are 32 and 38.
Step 4: The square value of 35 is more than 1024. So, 38 is
eliminated and the square root of 1024 is 32.

Finding the Cube Root

3
Example: √1331

Step 1: Split the last three digits of the given number (1|331).

Step 2: We get 1 as the last units digit while cubing 1.

Step 3: Then, find the nearest cube value of the remaining

number.
