A TRAVELOGUE IN BENGUET

TEAM TOURIST/ NARRATORS (): I and my friend decided to visit Benguet last
December. We have always been drawn to this place, we think it is full of wonders and
treasures, waiting to be uncovered. From Manila, we took a bus and within just 5 hours,
we reached Baguio City. We checked in at the Veniz Hotel for easier access, then we
went to Burnham Park where we were met with the cold breeze and manong who was
shouting:

The next morning, we started off towards La Trinidad-The Valley of Colors. It truly
is the valley of colors as we stood mesmerized by the Colors of Stobosa along Km 3. We
went to the Strawberry Farm and what a sight to behold, we saw the greenest lettuce
field, we tasted the reddest strawberries and the most colorful roses in Alapang.

Next stop was Tublay, the Land of Fascinating Caves.We went to the famed
Ambongdolan caves. Before we started exploring, the local guide briefed us on the
safety procedures.

After resting our weary bodies after the exploring the caves, we next went to Atok-
Where vegetables flourish and cacti-flower bloom. We went to the Northern Blossom and
the Haights Place where they say sakuras bloom. The local guides welcomed us and they
even volunteered to take our pictures!

Next, we trekked to the Mt. Kabunyan in Bakun. This is where they say is the
Home of God Kabunian. At the top of the mountain, we could definitely feel His presence
and we closed my eyes as the locals sang

After a very tiring trek up the mountains, we went to Bokod-The Sulfur Spring of
Benguet. Here we listened to a trivia about Sulfur springs

Next stop was Buguias-the Vegetable Panorama of the North. We were so amazed
at the rolling mountains of vegetables but were so sad when we heard about the
hardships of the local the farmers.

We went to Itogon -Land of Golden Opportunities. It is truly a land of golden

opportunities as it has the biggest mines in the country. The same is true with
Mankayan-Bossom of Gold and Copper of Benguet

We then went to see Kabayan Home of Centuries-old mummies. We were not able
to go very close but luckily, the locals demonstrated how mummies were mummified,
positioned and placed in coffins.

As much as we want to see Kibungan-Rocky wall of Beauties, we did not have

enough energy to climb its rugged mountains. We call it an unfinished business, our
reason to return but we listened to a poem about its beauty from the locals

We stopped by in Kapangan-Grand March Capital of the Philippines where we
witnessed the locals show their famed grand march. We even joined them!

We were so tired but fulfilled, so we dropped by in Sablan-Fruit Basket of Benguet
and brought fruits from the kind people there.

Every adventure has to end and it was time for us to go so we boarded the bus. We
passed by Tuba-Cradle of Nature's Gift when we were on our way back to Manila. The
waterfalls and the pine tree –filled, winding roads of Kennon Road were our last glimpse
of Benguet. We passed by the famous Lion Head
