First Aid Measures
General Advice If exposed or concerned: Get medical advice/attention.
Eye Contact Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Seek
immediate medical attention if adverse effect occurs.
Skin Contact Wash off immediately with plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes.
Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. If irritation persists or feeling unwell, obtain
medical advice.
Inhalation Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. If
necessary, use artificial respiration to support vital functions. Call a physician if you feel
unwell.
Ingestion Do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse mouth thoroughly with water. Never give anything by mouth
to an unconscious person. Call a physician or poison control center immediately.
Most important symptoms and effects
Symptoms Harmful if inhaled. Harmful in contact with skin. May be harmful if swallowed. Contact may
cause irritation and redness. May be absorbed through the skin with possible systemic
effects. May cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting. May cause
abnormal liver function as detected by laboratory tests. May cause damage to the liver,
kidneys, lymphoid system, blood and blood-forming organs.

5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
Suitable Extinguishing Media
Alcohol resistant foam.
Unsuitable Extinguishing Media Not determined.
Specific Hazards Arising from the Chemical
Combustible liquid. Sealed containers may rupture when heated. Vapor mixtures are explosive above the flash point. Vapors may
travel to source of ignition and flash back.
Hazardous Combustion Products Carbon oxides.
Protective equipment and precautions for firefighters
As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent) and full
protective gear.
6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Personal Precautions Ventilate affected area. Remove all sources of ignition. Wear protective clothing as
described in Section 8 of this safety data sheet.
For Emergency Responders Isolate hazard area. Evacuate unprotected personnel from area.
Environmental precautions
Environmental precautions Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. See Section 12 for additional
Ecological Information.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
Methods for Containment Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.
Methods for Clean-Up Recover free liquid. Collect spillage. Use only non-sparking tools. Take up with sand, earth
or other non-combustible absorbent material.
7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Precautions for safe handling
Advice on Safe Handling Wash face, hands and any exposed skin thoroughly after handling. Do not eat, drink or
smoke when using this product. Use personal protection recommended in Section 8. Use
only in well-ventilated areas. Avoid breathing vapors or mists. Containers, even those that
have been emptied, can contain vapors. Obtain special instructions before use. Do not
handle until all safety precautions have been read and understood.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Storage Conditions Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Keep away from
heat, sparks, flame and other sources of ignition (i.e., pilot lights, electric motors and static
electricity). Protect from direct sunlight. Store away from incompatible materials. Store
separately from reactive or combustible materials. Store locked up.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
Exposure Guidelines
Chemical Name ACGIH TLV OSHA PEL NIOSH IDLH
Butoxyethyl acetate TWA: 20 ppm - TWA: 5 ppm
112-07-2 TWA: 33 mg/m3
Appropriate engineering controls
Engineering Controls Ventilation must be adequate to maintain the ambient workplace atmosphere below the
exposure limit(s) outlined in the SDS. Eye wash fountain should be located in immediate
work area.
Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment
Eye/Face Protection Splash goggles or safety glasses. Refer to 29 CFR 1910.133 for eye and face protection
regulations.
Skin and Body Protection Wear chemical resistant, impervious gloves for routine industrial use. Use body protection
appropriate for task. An apron or other impermeable body protection is suggested.
Full-body chemical protective clothing is recommended for emergency response
procedures. Refer to 29 CFR 1910.138 for appropriate skin and body protection.
Respiratory Protection If respiratory protection is needed, use only protection authorized in the U.S. Federal OSHA
Standard (29CFR 1910.134), applicable U.S. State regulations, or the Canadian CSA
Standard Z94.4-93 and applicable standards of Canadian Provinces. Oxygen levels below
19.5% are considered IDLH by OSHA. In such atmospheres, use of a full-facepiece
pressure/demand SCBA or a full facepiece, supplied air respirator with auxiliary
self-contained air supply is required under OSHA’s Respiratory Protection Standard
(1910.134-1998).
General Hygiene Considerations Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.
