Swachh Bharat Abhiyan
1.1 ABOUT SWACHH BHARATH ABHIYAN
Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM)[1], Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, or Clean India Mission is a
country- wide campaign initiated by the Government of India in 2014 to eliminate open
defecation and improve solid waste management. It is a restructured version of the Nirmal
Bharat Abhiyan launched in 2009 that failed to achieve its intended targets.
Phase 1: Of the Swachh Bharat Mission lasted till October 2019.
Phase 2: Is being implemented between 2020–21 and 2024–25 to help cement the work of
Phase.
As part of the campaign, volunteers, known as Satyagrahis, or "Ambassadors of
cleanliness", promoted the construction of toilets using a popular method called
Community-Led Total Sanitation at the village level. Other activities included national real-
time monitoring and updates from non-governmental organizations such as The Ugly
Indian, Waste Warriors, and SWACH Pune (Solid Waste Collection and Handling).
The government provided subsidy for construction of nearly 90 million toilets between
2014 and 2019, Although some Indians especially in rural areas choose to not use them.
The campaign was criticized for using coercive approaches to force people to use toilets.
Some people were stopped from defecating in open and threatened with withdrawal from
government benefits.
The campaign was financed by the Government of India[2] and state governments. The
formerreleased $5.8 billion (Rs 40,700 crore) funds for toilet construction 700,000 villages.
The total budget for the rural and urban components was estimated at $28 billion, 93 per
cent for construction and the rest for behavior change campaigns and administration.
The main aim of the project is to create sanitation facilities for all and provide every rural
family with a toilet by 2019. The slogan of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is:
One step towards to cleanliness and it was launched by, P M Narendra Modi and on the
memory of Mahatma Gandhiji on 2nd October of every year.
The campaign was criticized for using coercive approaches to force people to use toilets.
Some people were stopped from defecating in open and threatened with withdrawal from
government.
Mahatma Gandhi Swachh Bharat Abhiyan With the launch of 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'
(Clean India Mission) on October 2, 2014, on the 145th birth anniversary of Mahatma
Gandhi, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India began its journey towards making
cleanliness a part of daily life.
For Gandhi, the drive for cleanliness in society was an integral part of the process in
bringing about a casteless and free society.
“Everyone is his own scavenger,” said Gandhi, reiterating the fact that the need for making
cleanliness a personal responsibility was key to removing untouchability.
What did Mahatma Gandhi do for cleanliness?
He had said that no one should spit on the streets as it is harmful. AIR correspondent reports
that Gandhiji strongly emphasized observing cleanliness in lavatories. Gandhi Ji has said
that Sanitation is more important than independence. Figure 1.2 shows the Narendra Modi
made cleanliness [2] and sanitation an integral part of the Gandhian way of living. The
head of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan? Shri Parameswaran B., I.A.S. cleanness city, it was every
citizens responsibility for make clean on city in case theydo not doing the cleanness and
sanitation the country will suffer the disease.
Figure 1.2: Prime minister of India “Narendra Modi” cleaning waste with Municipality workers[1]
Figure 1.3 shows the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by respected Municipality employee working
on streets has become a ‘Jan Andolan’ receiving tremendous support from the people.
Citizens too have turned out in large numbers and pledged for a neat and cleaner India.
Taking the During Swachh Bharat scheme on launched by Narendra Modi [3] entire India
country was make a broom to sweep the streets, cleaning up the garbage, focusing on
sanitation and maintaining a hygienic environment have become a practice after the launch
of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. People have started to take part and are helping spread the
message of ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness.’
The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is the most significant cleanliness campaign by the
Government of India. Shri Narendra Modi led a cleanliness pledge at India Gate, which
about thirty lakh government employees across the country joined.
Prime Minister himself has praised the efforts by people and various departments and
organizations for taking part in the Swachh Bharat Mission and contributing toward a
cleaner India as shown in figure 1.5.
Shri Narendra Modi has always openly lauded the participation of people via social media.
The ‘#My Clean India’ was also launched simultaneously as a part of the Swachh Bharat
drive to highlight the cleanliness work carried out by citizens across the nation.
In India, there was a group marked as untouchables and cleaning was their duty. Gandjii
did not follow any orthodoxy, he was an iconoclast [3] for the society and this caused
him many troubles but he never backed down. He believed that cleaning is an
individual’s duty and stated:
“So long as you do not take the broom and the bucket in your hands, you cannot make
your towns and cities clean.”
He always encouraged everyone to get some healthy cleaning habits and taught them the
importance of cleanliness. He advised students:
"If you become your own scavengers, you will make your surroundings clean. It needs no
less courage to become an expert scavenger than to win a Victoria Cross”.
This was severely Impacting the health, and also the dignity of people in rural areas,
especially of women and children. Open defecation was regarded as a matter of national
shame, but it was an often-ignored subject which was not raised in public discussion.
To accelerate the efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage and to put the focus on
sanitation, the Prime Minister of India had launched the Swachh Bharat Mission on 2nd
October 2014.
Under the mission, all villages, Gram Panchayats, Districts, States and Union Territories in
India declared themselves "open-defecation free" (ODF) by 2 October 2019, the 150th birth
anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, by constructing over 100 million toilets in rural India.
To ensure that the open defecation free behaviors are sustained, no one is left behind, and
that solid and liquid waste management facilities are accessible, the Mission is moving
towards the next Phase II of SBMG i.e., ODF-Plus.
ODF Plus activities under Phase II of Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) will reinforce
ODF behaviors and focus on providing interventions for the safe management of solid [3]
waste management in public tourism places.
Figure 1.6 shows the Government Engineering College Mosalehosahalli and the main
objective of the activity was to clean the surrounding area of campus and to sensitize the
students about “Swacch Bharat Abhiyan” and maintaining cleanliness in their
surroundings. Dr. Rudrappa K.M, Associate Proff. Dept of EEE, supervised the students.
At the completion stage, Dr. Rudrappa K. M, Head of the Department visited the site and
reviewed the site as shown in figure 1.12.
SBM was shared financially between the central and state governments, which built local
ownership over the results, and was supported by key development partners. And finally,
the whole task was completed and our best was doing very well for keep the society clean
purpose and people’s safety also Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has become a ‘Jan Andolan’
receiving tremendous support from the people.
Day 08: Last day of Activity
The activity was successfully completed under the supervision of Veerabhadra Swamy K.
M, chief program officer, Dr. Rudrappa K. M, Associate Prof. and HOD of Dept of EEE
and Dr T. Rangaswamy, Principal GEC Mosalehosahalli. All the students had actively
participated in the cleanliness program.
Our teammates successfully completed to make the clean the Government Engineering
College on surrounding places "Swacch Bharat Abhiyan activities may include cleaning of
college campus, residential hostel and college places including cleaning of workshops,
sports ground, waste collection drives, and awareness campaigns," the Ministry of
Personnel said in the directive issued to secretaries of all central government departments.
A clean and healthy environment is crucial for our well-being and that of future generations.
It is our responsibility to keep our surroundings clean and maintain good hygiene practices.
We should take inspiration from the Clean India Mission and work towards creating a
cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future.

Devotees can pray in Gangamma Pond. There is a temple of Basavanna under the hill. The
specialty of this Gudi is that if you want to do any work, you will be asked in this Gudi
whether you can do it or not. Snails seem to answer through flowers. If the work is done,
an even numbered flower is given, and if the work is not done, the answer is given by an
odd numbered flower. The God here is very powerful and seems to answer all the questions
of the devotees. It is common for devotees from different parts of the state to worship Sri
Jenukallu Siddeshwar Swami, who is the deity of the people, by offering Ganga Puja[8] on
the hill, hundred and one places service and camphor service.
The history of the Jenukallu Siddeshwara Temple in Arsikere dates back several centuries,
with exact dates often being unclear due to the passage of time and limited historical
records. However, it is believed to have been built during the rule of the Hoysala dynasty,
which flourished in the region between the 10th and 14th centuries. The temple's
architecture and the use of black stone reflect the Hoysala style, known for its intricate
carvings and craftsmanship. Over the centuries, the temple has likely undergone
renovations and additions, but it remains a significant cultural and religious landmark in
the area, attracting devotees and historians interested in its rich heritage.

narrative intertwined with the cultural, religious, and architectural evolution of the region.
The temple's origins are shrouded in the mists of time, likely dating back to the heyday of
the Hoysala dynasty, which ruled large parts of present-day Karnataka between the 10th
and 14th centuries.

devotees who come to this area come impure, the bees will arise and cause trouble. The
god Jenukallu Siddeshwar is known by names like Ajjaya, Siddeshwar.
It is the belief of the people that if people put their faith in this God with immense devotion,
he will surely bless the devotees. The Hoysalas were known for their patronage of art and

Facilitating 100% Digitized Money Transaction
3.1 INTRODUCTION
A digital transaction is a seamless system involving one or more participants, where
transactions are affected without the need for cash. The digital transaction involves a
constantly evolving way of doing things where financial technology (fintech) companies
collaborate with various sectors of the economy for the purpose of meeting the increasingly
sophisticated demands of the growing tech-savvy users. As the needs of investors and
financial service users become more complex, there is a demand for effective tools to
simplify the processes and transactions carried out by end-users. It is inevitable that
financial institutions would have to increase the number of digitized [11] services and
offerings, given a rise in the use of automated services.
Implementing technology in the financial industry is a necessity for the survival of
businesses as customers seek lower-cost alternatives to traditional financial services.
Fintech companies have led the revolution in transforming the financial sector by
digitalizing the end-client’s transactional eco-system. The example of a digital transaction
above was made to show how the benefits of technology adaptation outweigh the costs for
businesses, financial institutions, and end-users. Still, there are digital initiatives that come
up to disrupt the previous digital transaction setups. Just as credit cards are disrupting the
use of cash, processes like online transactions and crypto currencies are disrupting the
regimen where physical presence and credit cards, respectively, are required for

Disadvantages include security concerns and a limited range of capabilities when compared
to banking in person or on a computer.
Mobile banking[19] is very convenient in today’s digital age with many banks offering
impressive apps. The ability to deposit a check, to pay for merchandise, to transfer money
to a friend or to find an ATM instantly are reasons why people choose to use mobile

app is important or else a client might risk personal information being compromised.
• NEFT:
National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) is an electronic funds transfer system
maintained by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Started in November 2005, the setup was
established and maintained by Institute for Development and Research in Banking
Technology. NEFT enables bank customers in India to transfer funds between any two
NEFT-enabled bank accounts on a one-to-one basis. It is done via electronic messages.
Unlike real-time gross settlement, fund transfers[18] through the NEFT system do not
occur in real-time basis. Previously, NEFT system settled fund transfers in hourly batches
with 23 settlements occurring between 00:30 hrs. to 00:00 hrs. From 16 December 2019,
there would be 48 half-hourly batches occurring between 00.30.
Steps:
1. Select “Transfer to other bank” from Funds Transfer section in Net Banking.
2. Select account, beneficiary and enter the relevant details.
• RTGS
Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) systems are specialist funds transfer systems where
the transfer of money or securities takes place from one bank to any other bank on a "real-
time" and on a "gross" basis to avoid settlement risk. Settlement in "real time" means a
payment transaction is not subjected to any waiting period, with transactions being settled
as soon as they are processed. "Gross settlement" means the transaction is settled[18] on a
one-to-one basis, without bundling or netting with any other transaction. "Settlement"
means that once processed, payments are final and irrevocable. RTGS systems are usually
operated by a country's central bank as it is seen as critical infrastructure [17] for a country's
economy. Economists believe that an efficient national payment system reduces the cost of
exchanging goods and services, and is indispensable to the functioning of the interbank,
money, and capital markets. A weak payment system may severely drag on the stability
and developmental capacity of a national economy; its failures can result in inefficient use
of financial resources, inequitable risk-sharing among agents, actual losses for participants,
and loss of confidence in the financial system and in the very use of money.
• The RBI does not impose an amount cap on RTGS transactions or transfers.
• The system is accessible round-the-clock, 365 days a year. The funds are transferred to
the beneficiary account in real time.
• The beneficiary need not visit a bank branch to deposit the paper instruments.
• The beneficiary need not be concerned about the possibility of fraudulent encashment or
the loss or theft of physical instruments.
• The regulator has imposed a cap on fees to carry out the transactions.
• IMPS:
Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) is an instant payment inter-bank electronic funds
transfer system in India. IMPS offers an inter-bank electronic fund transfer service through
Department of EEE Page | 54
Facilitating 100% Digitized money transaction
mobile phones. The service is available 24x7 throughout the year including bank holidays.
NEFT was also made available 24x7 from December 2019. RTGS was also made available
24x7 from 14 December 2020. Unified Payments Interface is built on top of IMPS, with
the key architectural work done by the Mobile Payments Forum of India, IIT Madras and
IDRBT.
It is managed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and is built upon the
existing National Financial Switch network. In 2010, the NPCI initially carried out a pilot
for the mobile payment system with 4 member banks (State Bank of India, Bank of India,
Union Bank of India and ICICI Bank), and expanded it to include Yes Bank, Axis Bank
and HDFC Bank later that year. IMPS was publicly launched on 22 November 2010. As of
April 2023, there are 722 member banks[7] which signed up for the IMPS service. Around
200 million IMPS transactions amounting to roughly US$20 billion of transaction amount
happen every month in India.
Speed: Online transactions are typically processed very quickly. This is because there is
no need to manually handle cash or checks.
Security: Online transactions are generally very secure. Reputable merchants use a variety
of security measures to protect customer data, such as encryption and fraud detection
systems.
Cost savings: Online transactions can save both merchants and consumers money.
Merchants can save on the costs of processing cash and checks, and consumers can save
on the costs of postage and transaction fees.
Global reach: Online transactions allow businesses to reach a global audience. This can
help businesses to increase their sales and grow their customer base.
• Disadvantages:
Security risks: While online transactions are generally very secure, there are always risks
involved. For example, hackers may be able to steal customer data or commit fraud.
Technical issues: Online transactions can be disrupted by technical issues, such as internet
outages or website downtime. This can be frustrating for both merchants and consumers.
Limited consumer protection: Consumers may have limited protection if they are the
victim of fraud or if they are not satisfied with their purchase. This is because it can be
difficult to track down and resolve issues with online merchants.

3.8 CONCLUSION
India is among the fast emerging as one of the largest and strong economies. For sustained
development and growth with robust economic development, certain integral factors like
improved transparency, corporate governance and restricting the parallel cash-based
economy. Such developments could be feasible only with rural India too embracing the
digital payments and digital transactions. Considering the quantum[7] of opportunities that
are unfolding for market dynamics of digital payments, if the challenges that are discussed
are addressed and improved solutions in terms of UPIs, mobile wallets, and digital
transactions with more secured features, ease of transactions and reduced cost of managing
the digital payments could lead to more potential developments and supporting in improved
conditions of digital payments processing in rural sectors. In terms of capitalizing on the
opportunities, it is very essential that the solutions have to be more robust and following
are certain key policies that has to be in force for effectively implementing the digital
payment solutions across the rural sectors.

Preparing an Actionable Business Proposal for Enhancing Village Income
4.1 INTRODUCTION
Past strategy for development of the agriculture sector in India has focused primarily
on raising agricultural output and improving food security. This strategy involved (a)
an increase in productivity through better technology and varieties, and increased use
of quality seed, fertilizer, irrigation and Agrochemicals; (b) incentive structure in the
form of remunerative prices for some crops and subsidies on farm inputs; (c) public
investments in and for agriculture; and (d) facility at in gin situations. The strategy paid
dividends as the country was able to address severe food shortage that emerged during
mid-1960s.
During the last half a Century (1965 to 2015), since the adoption of green revolution,
India's food production multiplied 3.7 times while the population [21] multiplied by
2.55 times. The net result has been a 45 per cent increase in per person food
production, which has made India not only food self-sufficient at aggregate level, but
also a net food exporting country.
Farmers who play a vital role in the Indian economy are mostly not aware of this Central
Government strategy of doubling farmer’s income by every financial year. In this guide,
we will explain to you what is increasing Farmers Income, why it is important, how can we
increase the income of farmers, and much more beneficial information for our farmers.
Why Increasing Farmers Income is important?
• If the income earned[7] by the farmer is doubled then he/she will use better farm
machinery, better and advanced technologies for farming to increase productivity, better
quality of seeds, etc.
• Therefore, increasing farmer’s income means increasing agricultural productivity.
• Doubling Farmers Income will not only increase agriculture production by using better
farming techniques but also improve the quality of crops.
• Both the quantity and quality of food can be achieved by Doubling Farmers Income.
• It will lead to the growth of the Indian economy.
• Incident of farmer’s suicide will come to an end if farmers are financially satisfied.
How can we increase the income of farmers?
• Strong measures are required to fulfill the aim of doubling the income of farmers.
• The following measure can be taken within the agriculture sector to double
farmer’s income:
• Improvement in productivity
Sources of Growth in Farmers ‘Income Doubling real income of farmers till 2022-23 over
The base year of 2015-16, requires annual growth of 10.41 per cent in farmers' income. This
implies that the on-going and previously achieved rate of growth in farm income has to be
sharply accelerated. Therefore, strong measures will be needed to harness all possible
sources of growth in farmers' income within as well as outside agriculture sector. The major
sources of growth operating within agriculture sector are:
• Improvement in productivity
• Resource use efficiency or saving in cost of production
• Increase in cropping intensity
4.3 SOURCES OF INCOME GROWTH WITHINAGRICULTURE
SECTOR
Increase in agricultural productivity
There are two sources to increase in agricultural output viz. area and productivity. Due to
In fact, some farmers have started moving away from the agriculture sector and many are
looking for suitable opportunities to leave farming.8 According to NSSO, workforce in
agriculture sector in rural areas declined by about 34 million between 2004-05 and 2011-
12, showing an annual decline at the rate of 2.04 per cent. If the same trend continues, then
workforce share in agriculture [21] will fall to 55 per cent of total rural workforce by 2022-
23. The decline in workforce in agriculture is on account of both the decline in the number
of agricultural labor as well as decline in the number of cultivators.
4.4 STRATEGY FOR IMPROVING FARMERS' INCOME
The sources of increase in farmers income by drawing mainly from the past experience and
trends.
The sources of growth in output and income can be put in four categories
• Development initiatives including infrastructure
• Technology
• Policies and
• Institutional mechanisms.
Roadmap and Action Plan
Frame work for doubling farmers’ income which has identified seven sources of growth.
These are:
• Increase in productivity of crops
• Increase in production of livestock
• Improvement in efficiency of input use (cost saving)
• Increase in crop intensity
Department of EEE Page | 70
Preparing an Actionable Business Proposal for Enhancing Village Income
• Diversification towards high value crops
• Improved price realization by farmers
• Shift of cultivators to non-farm jobs and
Crop productivity is required to increase by 4.1 per cent and livestock value added by 6.0
per cent per year to double farmers' income by 2022. TFP growth, which is mainly
contributed by agricultural R&D, extension services, new knowledge, efficient practices
like precision farming, is required to follow annual increase of 3.0 per cent. Indian farmers
should raise area under two crops to 53 per cent from the present 40 per cent recorded in
recent years. Area under high value crops is required to follow an increase of 4.4 per cent
each year. Market [24] reforms are required to enable farmers to get 17 per cent higher.
How to develop Vegetable business?
Developing a vegetable business without involving middle persons can be challenging, but
itis possible. Here are some steps you can take to develop your vegetable business:
Establish direct relationships with farmers: One of the best ways to eliminate middle
persons is to establish direct relationships with vegetable farmers. This way, you can
negotiate directly with the farmers and get better prices for your vegetables.
Invest in transportation: If you want to avoid middle persons, you need to have your own
transportation system. Invest in trucks or other vehicles to transport your vegetablesdirectly
from the farm to your customers.
Build a network of customers: Start building a network of customers who will buy your
vegetables. This can include supermarkets, restaurants, and wholesalers. Focus on building
strong relationships with these customers and delivering quality vegetables at competitive
prices as shown in figure 4.1.
Choose a strategic location: The location of your fish marketing business can significantly

Helping Local School to Achieve Good Result
5.1 ABSTRACT
Orientation programs are generally held to exchange ideas and have a better interaction.
Prior to the beginning of their college life, it is necessary for the students to have an
overview of the complete realm of university life, from academics to social activities.
Students should have an exposure to the choices offered to them in their colleges. Priory,
they must also know that in order to get into prominent institutions they must have a good
score in their high school boards [7]. A part from the academics, students also need to
improve their communication skills. Good communication skills are essential to allow
others and yourself to understand information more accurately and quickly. The aim of this
activity is to orient the students to achieve good results with some easy methods so that
each and every student can score good results and master their communication skills.
5.2 INTRODUCTION
Education is an important tool which is very useful in everybody’s life. Education is what
differentiates us from other living beings on earth. It makes man the smartest creature on
earth. It empowers humans and gets them ready to face challenges of life efficiently. With
that being said, education still remains a luxury and not a necessity in our country.
Educational [7] awareness needs to be spread through the country to make education
accessible. But this remains incomplete without first analyzing the importance of
education. Only when the people realize what significance it holds, can they consider it a
necessity for a good life. For this purpose, it was necessary to give an orientation on
education to the local schools to achieve good results Education is the most significant too
line eliminating poverty and unemployment. Moreover, it enhances the commercial
scenario and benefits the country overall. So, the higher the level of education in a country,
the better the chances of development are in addition, this education also benefits an
individual in various ways. It helps a per son take a better and informed decision with the
use of their knowledge. This increases the success rate of a person in life. Subsequently
education is also responsible for providing an enhanced lifestyle. It gives you career
opportunities that can increase your quality of life.
These kind of orientation programs will help the students to score good results and also is
will motivate the students to work towards achievement of goals. This program will also
help the students to understand the current scenario of educational system and how they
should take efforts to fulfil their dreams. The students will get to know the importance of
good results for future studies. Because of this orientation program the students will get a
direction to study and improve their skills.
Figure 5.2 shows what we told the students about our intentions behind the orientation
programme, and they are watching our presentation. We began the session by asking their
names and their choices about career, so that they could feel free to interact with us. We
also gave them an idea about different streams such as commerce, science, arts, diploma,
etc. We told them that they must excel at the basics of Mathematics, Physics, Biology in
science, arts, diploma, etc. We told them that they must excel at the basics of Mathematics,
Physics, Biology in order to choose any science relating streams.
There we got one student of 10th standard. She told us that she wants to be a doctor and
asked us how she could achieve it. We explained to her that in order to be a doctor, she
should first choose Science stream in her higher secondary education. After her 12th
standard she will have to attend a national level entrance exam NEET. She was satisfied with
the guidance and thanked us for it.
Figure 5.3 shows a photo of the classroom where the orientation programme was held,
along with the students and the class teacher.
Our team comprising of five members visited the Karnataka public school, Mosalehosalli
Hassan Taluk and District. Our primary objective was to interact with the students who
recently completed their SSLC and guide them about the various career options and
competitive exams available and figure 5.4 shows It’s me explaining about future planning.
Figure 5.5 shows our teammate explaining the various career paths available for students
after SSLC, such as engineering, medicine, management, law, and other professional
courses. We emphasized the importance of choosing a career that aligns with their interests,
skills, and personality traits.
Next, we talked about the various competitive exams available for students to pursue higher
education and secure a better future. We provided them with a basic understanding of
Figure 5.6: Teammate explaining about JEE, NEET, AIMS, and KCET exams
We then distributed handouts and notes to the students, which contained detailed
information about various career options and competitive exams. We also encouraged them
to discuss their career aspirations with their parents and teachers and seek guidance from
them.
Last part of the program
The last part of this activity program was a feedback session in which students and all the
teachers present for the program. The feedback from the students was collected in the form
of rating. The school provided a feedback letter which shows how impactful the activity
was. The activity ended with thanksgiving to all the students and staff of the school. And
even we explained about the mathematics basic concepts like Pythagoras theorem and
about pie diagram and about English grammar and in science we explained about the
planets and the students are involve in all the discussion and interact with us positively.
Impact Analysis
Figure 5.7 shows that we can observe that the majority of the students found the session
helpful (75%). Additionally, 50% of the students said that they plan to appear for
competitive exams, which is an encouraging sign.
