Prologue: Clay’s siblings are attacked by icewings, but survive and retreat.
Main story: After Starflight got captured in the last book, he awoke in a cave with lots of other
nightwing dragonets, including his half-sister Fierceteeth. Morrowseer came by and took
Starflight to a meeting with Queen Battlewinner, once there Starflight noticed that the Queen
was hidden behind a screen with holes in it, and she was using her daughter, Princess
Greatness, as her voice. Starflight also noticed that Deathbringer was in the room as well and
stood before a giant hole in the floor that contained magma at the bottom ( magma, not lava,
remember they are in a cave which is considered underground and thus magma and not lava).
Apparently Deathbringer was on trial for not completing his mission: killing Glory, an adult
dragon with a scarred face said that Deathbringer should face punishment, but instead the
Queen had the guards kill that dragon instead by pushing him into the magma, thus killing him,
and Deathbringer instead goes to jail. Morrowseer takes Starflight to meet his father and on the
way he meets a female nightwing around his age named Fatespeaker they start talking, and
Fatespeaker mentions that she is apart of the dragonet prophecy, which sends Starflight into a
worry thinking that he has been replaced. The three arrive at the laboratory where they find
Mastermind, Starflight’s father, Morrowseer leaves to attend to other matters leaving Starflight
and Fatespeaker with Mastermind. Mastermind shows Starflight and Fatespeaker some of the
things around the lab and finally they get to the last thing Mastermind is working on and he
reveals a chained up rainwing, who Starflight notices is Orchid, Starflight and Fatespeaker are
appalled at the sight and give her some water, whilst doing so Starflight whispers in her ear that
Mangrove never stopped looking for her, and with that information she felt a jolt of happiness
and as a result her scales turned bright pink. Mastermind came back and was amazed at the
color of Orchids scales, and asked Starflight how it happened, and Fatespeaker answered that
she must have been grateful for the water. Morrowseer then came back for the two dragonets
and took them to another cave where there was a group of dragonets around the same age as
Fatespeaker and Starflight, Flame the skywing, Viper the sandwing, Ochre the mudwing, and
Squid the seawing, this group would come to be called…
After Morrowseer introduced them, he told them to try and kill Starflight so of course he flew
away trying to not die. Flame, Ochre, and Viper seemed kind of ecstatic to take Starflight’s life.
Ochre and Flame were really on Starflight’s tail and he was only able to shake them when he
made them fly too close together, Starflight’s then remembered what Glory had told him about
the rainwing tunnels and flew to one and told the guard that he was there for a school project
and she let him through. When flame tried to follow him the guard stopped him, and Flame
being as brash as he is said the wrong thing, he said, and I quote “ I need to kill that dragonet”,
and the guard screamed the skywings have come to kill our dragonets, and hit him over the
head with a gong. For a while Starflight waited in the back of the tunnels until Fatespeaker
found him and took him back to the False dragonets of destiny cave, to where then Morrowseer
took them to the nightwing dragonets dormitory. In the middle of the night Fatespeaker woke up
starflight to go explore the old nightwing fortress, there Starflight found one of the three
dreamvisitors and later used it to contact his friends only to find that some of them thought he
had betrayed them. The next day Morrowseer brought Starflight along with the False dragonets
of destiny to the mainland in far out skywing territory, where they were given a mission to try and
convince all the Skywing soldiers in an outpost to switch their allegiance to Blister, while posing
asd the true dragonets of destiny. Unfortunately to the fate of those dragons and the mission,
some of the soldiers recognised that Squid, Ochre, and Fatespeaker were not a part of the
original group of dragonets that had been at the arena, so of course to deal with this problem
Morrowseer has some nightwings that followed the group secretly burn the inside of the outpost
and make sure no dragons escaped.
My reaction to reading that part:
Afterwards Squid gets a little bitchy, but it was a little bit understandable, so he tells Morrowseer
that he no longer wants to be a part of the prophecy, and Morrowseer, without any remorse, tells
him to fly away and that he hopes he dies in the storm. Morrowseer takes the group back to the
island and they all get some sleep, but in the middle of the night Fatespeaker wakes up
Starflight to follow Flame to the holding cells where Deathbringer was being held. Flame wanted
Deathbringer to give him some pointers on how to become an assassin, but didn’t get the
results he wanted so he set off back to bed. Starflight and Fatespeaker went on to find the
Queen and eventually did, in a cauldron filled with lava… ( or is it technically still magma since
they are still in the volcanoes caves, now this is interesting, see because the magma as
mentioned before was still in a hole in the ground, but now its in a cauldron or in this case to use
a more wide ranged word, container. So, you are in underground tunnels, there is a large
container filled with molten rock, the problem resides in the name of which we would call the
molten rock in this exact predicament, either between the two words lava and magma, lava
often refers to molten rock that has made its way to the surface of the earth’s crust and is visible
from aerial view, magma however is the used word for molten rock that stays underneath the
surface of the earth’s crust and builds up pressure waiting for a volcanic or seismic reaction to
take place before rising to the surface and becoming lava. So with those facts out on the table
we must then ask the question or questions, what is in that container? Lava or magma? P.S: I
now realize that this has carried out too far into the segment and thus will probably be making
this into a different document, once I have it up I will be putting the link right here:)
(also from this point I will refer to the molten rock in the cauldron as magma)
…was where the queen was located, it turned out that the Queen of the nightwings, Queen
Battlewinner, had been involved in a terrible accident with an icewing and now was freezing
from the inside and the magma in her cauldron was the only thing keeping her alive.
Fatespeaker and Starflight tried to tell Queen Batllewinner that Morrowseer was too cruel in the
enforcing of his plans but the queen did not care and told them to leave her alone. Later that
night Starflight used the dream visitor and informed glory of what was to go down and the
nightwings preparing to attack. The next day Morrowseer had the false dragonets of destiny do
some battle training, while training Viper nearly killed Fatespeaker causing Starfilght to interfere
and push Viper, who then accidentally nicked Flame across the side of his snout and over his
eye, and Viper:
Morrowseer was extremely devastated about Flame and rushed to his aid almost like “you don’t
get to die until you pay me my money”, but anyway he rushed him to the infirmary. Now of
course with Viper dead this brings questions as to how they are to complete the prophecy
without the sandwing of the prophecy, to which prompts Ochre to say something that brings
Starflight to the conclusion that none of the false dragonets were born on the brightest night.
Later Mastermind came by to ask Starflight help him find cure for Flames scratch, and they head
to the nightwing library, not long after being there mastermind is brought by two guards to a
meeting that starflight overhears and learns about a new plan to attack the rainwings tonight.
After hearing the terrible news Starflight goes back to the dormitory to find the dreamvisitor only
to find that it has gone missing. Starflight then goes and ask Fatespeaker for help and together
they get Flame and sneak him out of the infirmary and to the rainforest kingdom, once there
Fatespeaker is immediately pinned down by a rainwing named Mango who was guarding the
tunnels, Tsunami saw what was going on and defused the situation, and brought the trio to
Queen Glory. After Starflight gave everyone the updated information, Glory had a meeting to
decide the best course of action: attack first. Before the mission was set to go, Starflight
admitted his love for Sunny and got:
So the assault charges on and rainwings are being freed and nightwings getting are
tranquilized, once all the Rainwings have been freed, Fatespeaker, Glory and Starflight head to
the cave where Queen Battlewinner is located in an attempt to make peace with the nightwings.
When they arrive at the room that leads to the tunnel to Battlewinner’s cave they run into
Greatness and she is then used as a hostage by Glory. Glory then tries diplomacy to try and
share the rain forest with the nightwings if they submit to her rule, but Battlewinner having that
“nightwings are superior” mentality tries to kill Glory and jumps out of her cauldron of magma
and instantaneously turns into an ice sculpture, and also at this point the volcano has started it’s
eruption process and they need to get out of there. Before they leave, they go tell everyone that
the queen is dead and they need to evacuate the island, and they save Queen Splendor and
Deathbringer. Everyone makes it to the tunnel but to go through, first they have to pledge their
allegiance to Glory as their Queen, all of the nightwings not wanting to die of course pledge their
allegiance without a second thought. Once everyone is through Morrowseer tells the dragonets
of destiny that he made up the prophecy and the volcano erupts and everyone makes it through
except Morrowseer who got caught in the molten rock, but Starflight narrowly escaped with
Clay’s help, he was now blinded, permanently (which just stopping and taking a look at, it's
actually pretty sad, because for the first few couple years of his life he hadn’t seen the world like
he would have wanted to, then He finally get to experience the amazing visual sights of sky
kingdom’s mountains, the sea kingdom’s beautiful blue seas, the wide expanse of the kingdom
of sand, and the colorful range of the rainforest, In a time of only couple of weeks just for those
beautiful sights to be accessed through memory a his other four senses).
Epilogue: the POV switches between Burn, Blister, and Blaze.
