ASSIGNMENT 1
Lessons learnt from the video ‘Arunima Sinha: On top of the world’

Submitted by:
Name: Divya Kardile
Class: FY MAMC
PRN No.: 1142220026

CONQUERING MOUNTAINS AND BREAKING BARRIERS

Arunima Sinha is a talented Indian athlete who ascended Mount Everest as the first
amputee woman in history. She is also known as the "mountain girl". Her narrative is a
motivational illustration of bravery, tenacity, and resilience in the face of difficulty.
These are some important life lessons from her life that we may all apply.

Arunima overcame several obstacles in her life, but she never gave up. She refused to
allow her disability define her or hold her back, even after tragically losing her leg.
Instead, she used her setback as a chance to pursue her passion for mountaineering,
and she ended up inspiring millions of people. Arunima's journey was difficult, and she
had to overcome numerous obstacles. She never gave up on her goal of climbing
Everest, though. She is a prime example of how tenacity may aid in goal achievement.

She never lost hope in her skills or in herself. She was adamant that she could
accomplish her objective, and her unflinching confidence enabled her to triumph over
every obstacle in her path. Arunima had faith in herself and her abilities, despite the
naysayers who told her she couldn't do it. She proved them wrong and showed that
with self-belief, anything is possible.

Mount Everest required repeated efforts. Before accomplishing her objective, she
had to put in years of arduous training, endure numerous failures, and get through
both physical and emotional obstacles. Her achievement was largely due to her
tenacity and fortitude.

Arunima's story is a reminder that life can throw unexpected challenges our way, but
it's how we deal with them that matters. She lost her leg in a tragic incident, but she
didn't let it hold her back. Instead, she used it as a source of strength and motivation.
Challenges are chances to push ourselves past our comfort zones and realise our
actual potential, not things to avoid or feel defeated by.

She had discomfort and physical anguish while climbing, but she persisted in order to
reach her destination. This serves as a reminder that sometimes suffering is
necessary in order to accomplish something wonderful.

Arunima's success was not achieved alone. She had a team of supporters, including
her family and friends, who helped her along the way. Supporting others and
accepting support when we need it can help us achieve our goals. Despite her life's
many obstacles, Arunima never lost sight of the significance of assisting others. Her
work has impacted the lives of several people. She founded the Arunima Foundation
to offer chances and support to those with disabilities.

ASSIGNMENT 2
7 Spiritual Laws

Submitted by:
Name: Divya Kardile
Class: FY MAMC
PRN No.: 1142220026

A. What did you learn from the Seven Spiritual Laws, and how this knowledge
will help in your personal life?

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success is about reaching our dreams with ease,
through following wisdom from both ancient religions and modern spiritual teachers.
We can attain much more than just material success, if we follow practices like
silence, non-judgment, giving, intention and detachment. I learnt the following
lessons from these laws:

The Law of Pure Potentiality taught me that our thoughtsWrite a title.

and beliefs can thwart or
expand our untapped potential. By practicing mindfulness and meditation, we can
connect with our inner selves and tap into this potential. This law has taught me to
live in the present moment, to let go of limiting beliefs and negative self-talk, and to
trust in the power of the universe. By focusing on my own inner potential and
connecting with my true self, I have been able to tap into my creativity and intuition,
and have found new opportunities for growth and self-discovery. This law has also
helped me to cultivate a sense of gratitude and appreciation for all that I have in my
life, and to approach each day with a sense of curiosity and wonder.

PAGE 3
The Law of Giving reminds us that the more we give, the more we receive. By giving
freely of my time, & resources, I have been able to connect with others and build
meaningful relationships based on mutual support and trust. This law has also taught
me to give without any expectation of receiving anything in return, which has allowed
me to experience the joy and fulfilment that comes from helping others. This law
have helped me encourage volunteering in my community, and practicing random
acts of kindness on a daily basis. By living in alignment with the Law of Giving, I have
found a sense of purpose and meaning in my life, and have experienced a deeper
sense of connection with the world around me.

The Law of Karma: This law suggests that every action we take has consequences,
both positive and negative. By being mindful of our thoughts and actions, we can
create positive karma that will come back to us in the form of good luck and
happiness. This law has taught me the importance of personal responsibility and
accountability, and has helped me to see how my choices and behaviors can impact
my own well-being and that of others. By cultivating positive intentions, speaking and
acting with kindness and compassion, and making choices that align with my values
and goals, I have been able to create a more fulfilling and joyful life for myself.

The Law of Least Effort: This law encourages us to work smarter, not harder. By
following the path of least resistance, we can achieve our goals with ease and grace.
This law has taught me the importance of surrendering to the present moment,
accepting things as they are, and releasing my attachment to outcomes and
expectations. This law has also taught me the importanceWrite

and resources, and focusing on what is truly important and necessary in my life.

The Law of Intention and Desire: This law has taught me the importance of setting

doing so, I have found greater clarity, focus, and direction in my life. This law has also
taught me the importance of detachment, letting go of my attachment to specific
outcomes and trusting in the universe to manifest my deepest desires in the perfect
time and way. I have set daily intentions and affirmations, visualizing my desired
outcomes, taking action towards my goals, and trust in the process.

PAGE 4
The Law of Detachment: This law teaches us to let go of attachment to outcomes
and surrender to the present moment. By releasing our expectations and living in the
present, we can experience inner peace and happiness. The Law of Detachment
teaches us to let go of our attachment to specific outcomes and trust in the wisdom
of uncertainty. This law has taught me the importance of surrendering my control
over outcomes and instead focusing on the present moment and taking inspired
action towards my goals. This law has also taught me the importance of embracing
change and seeing it as an opportunity for growth and transformation.

The Law of Dharma: This law suggests that we all have a unique purpose or calling in
life. By discovering and following our dharma, we can experience fulfillment and
happiness. This means being true to ourselves and aligning our actions with our
deepest values and beliefs. The Law of Dharma teaches us to discover and live in
alignment with our unique purpose and mission in life. This law has taught me the
importance of introspection and self-reflection in order to understand my true
passions, talents, and values. This law has also taught me to focus on giving and
serving others in order to fulfill my purpose and create positive impact in the world.

B) What did you learn from the Seven Spiritual Laws, and how this knowledge will
help in achieving some of the United Nations 'Sustainable Development Goals’.

The Seven Spiritual Laws, as outlined by Deepak Chopra, are a set of principles that
can guide individuals towards a more harmonious and fulfilling

a framework for individuals and communities to approach sustainable development
in a more holistic and mindful way. Here are some ways that the Seven Spiritual Laws
can be applied to sustainable development:
Write a title.
The Law of Pure Potentiality: When applied to sustainable development, it can
encourage individuals to believe in their ability to make a difference and to take
action towards creating a more sustainable future. By understanding and connecting
with this infinite potential within us, we can manifest our desires and create positive

change in the world. This law can help in achieving several Sustainable Development
Goals, such as Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and
Infrastructure, and Goal 13: Climate Action. By tapping into our inner potential and
creativity, we can develop new technologies and innovations to create a more
sustainable and clean energy future. We can also use this law to promote sustainable
practices in our communities and businesses.

The Law of Giving: The Law of Giving, also known as the Law of Giving and Receiving,
emphasizes the power of generosity and selflessness in our lives. The Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) can greatly benefit from the application of this law. For
instance, the goal of eradicating poverty can be achieved by those who have the
ability to give and help those in need. The Law of Giving can also contribute to
achieving the SDG of reducing inequalities, as it promotes the idea of sharing
resources and promoting equality. Additionally, the Law of Giving can aid in achieving
the SDG of ensuring access to quality education, as individuals can give back to
educational institutions and help provide equal opportunities to those in need.

The Law of Cause and Effect: Applying this law to sustainable development means
that every decision we make, every action we take, and every resource we use has an
impact on the environment and society. For example, reducing carbon emissions will
mitigate the effects of climate change, which in turn will benefit both the
environment and human populations. Similarly, investing in renewable energy will not
only reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also create job opportunities and improve
energy access in underprivileged communities. By considering the long-term
consequences of our actions and making decisions that align with

goals, we can create a better future for ourselves and future generations.

The Law of Least Effort: This law encourages individuals to work with the natural
flow of life rather than against it. This principle can be applied

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including affordable and clean energy (SDG 7),
sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11), and responsible consumption and
production (SDG 12). By focusing on the most efficient and effective solutions, we can
conserve resources, reduce waste, and work towards a more sustainable future with
minimal effort.

PAGE 6
The Law of Intention and Desire: This law emphasizes the importance of setting clear
intentions and aligning them with one's desires. This law can be applied to help
achieve many of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by
inspiring people to take action towards creating a better world. For example, setting
a clear intention to reduce waste and adopting sustainable lifestyle practices can
help achieve SDG 12 - Responsible Consumption and Production. Setting the intention
to support and empower marginalized communities can help achieve SDG 10 -
Reduced Inequalities. When we align our intentions and desires with the greater
good, we can become powerful agents of positive change in the world.

The Law of Detachment: It teaches us to detach ourselves from the outcomes of our
actions and instead focus on the present moment. Detachment can assist in
achieving Goal 12, which is about responsible consumption and production. By
detaching ourselves from the desire for material possessions and focusing on what is
necessary, we can reduce our consumption and contribute towards a more
sustainable planet. It can aid in achieving Goal 13, which focuses on climate action. By
detaching ourselves from harmful habits and behaviors that harm the environment,
we can reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to slowing down climate change.

The Law of Dharma: It emphasizes on finding one's purpose in life and using it to
serve others. This can be directly linked to several of the United Nations' Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs). For example, SDG 1, "No Poverty," can be addressed by
individuals finding their dharma or purpose in life and using it to create job
opportunities and empower marginalized communities. Similarly, SDG 3, "Good Health
and Well-being," can be achieved by individuals using theirWrite

promoted through individuals teaching and mentoring others in their areas of
expertise. By following the Law of Dharma, individuals can contribute to achieving

on the world.

By embracing the principles of Seven Spiritual Laws and applying them to

A TALE OF PERSEVERANCE AND HOPE

"The Pursuit of Happyness" is a 2006 biographical drama film directed by Gabriele

Muccino and starring Will Smith, based on the true story of Chris Gardner, a struggling
salesman who becomes homeless with his young son in San Francisco while trying to
pursue a career as a stockbroker. The film is a powerful portrayal of the struggles
faced by those living in poverty and the determination required to overcome those
challenges.

Will Smith delivers an outstanding performance as Chris Gardner, conveying both his
resilience and vulnerability with nuance and authenticity. Following Chris Gardner’s
life in poverty, the movie captures the sense of chaos and struggles he faces. Chris,
as a single father, does anything and everything for his adorable son to keep him
happy.

PAGE 8
Will Smith’s acting along with his son, Jaden Smith’s acting makes the audience keep
their eyes glued to the screen.

Actively concerned about his son’s education and mental development, Chris gets
upset when he learns that Christopher’s day care provider, Mrs. Chew, lets the kids
watch Bonanza and Love Boat. Chris teaches his son word meanings, such as the
difference between probably and possibly, and the fact that happiness is misspelled
on his day care’s sign. (It’s mistakenly spelled with a “y”; the film’s title intentionally
follows suit.)

This movie is a breath of fresh air in a world of chaos and fast-pasted materialism. It
makes the audience empathize with the hard work and failures that Chris faces. From
sleeping at a public restroom to chasing a bus, the main character’s efforts inspire
the audience. It also provides an insightful commentary on the importance of hard
work, perseverance, and self-belief in the face of adversity.

Chris’s optimism and spontaneous trait despite his situation can move viewers to
heart-felt tears. The famous scene of Chris telling his son to never give up uplifts all
our spirits: “Don’t ever let somebody tell you you can’t do something. Not even me…
People can’t do somethin’ themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. If you want
somethin’, go get it. Period.”

Also, the movie reminds us of how short life truly is to not be as happy as we can be.
We forget to be grateful in this fast-paced world, and this movie reminds us just that.

between Chris and his son, played by Jaden Smith, is a heart-warming element of the
film that adds an emotional depth to the story. For me, it reminded me to be thankful
for being with the ones I love.

The movie teaches that happiness is something that we often try to pursue when we
miss the smaller “happiness” in our lives. It is a touching and inspiring film that offers
a poignant message about the value of never giving up on your dreams, no matter
how difficult the circumstances may be. It is a must-watch for anyone seeking
inspiration and motivation in their own pursuit of happiness.

ASSIGNMENT 4
Change in habit/lifestyle that you wish to inculcate in your life

Submitted by:
Name: Divya Kardile
Class: FY MAMC
PRN No.: 1142220026

Choose any change in habit/lifestyle that you wish to inculcate in your life and
start working to implement the same in your life.
A. What is the change in habit/lifestyle you wish to implement in your life?

A change in lifestyle that I wish to inculcate in my life and start working to implement
the same is:

TO BE MORE ENVIRONMENTALLY AWARE

I want to strive to be more environmentally conscious by reducing waste, conserving

energy, and adopting sustainable lifestyle practices. Write a title.

As we face the increasingly urgent issue of climate change, it is becoming more

important than ever to take responsibility for our actions and make efforts to reduce
our impact on the environment. One way that we can do this is by adopting a more
environmentally conscious lifestyle. This is a change that I wish to make in my own
life, and I am eager to begin implementing sustainable practices that will help me to
reduce waste, conserve energy, and live an eco-friendlier lifestyle.

There are many reasons why I am motivated to make this change. For one, I believe
that it is our responsibility as citizens of the planet to do our part in preserving the
environment for future generations. The consequences of climate change are already

PAGE 10
being felt around the world, from rising sea levels to more frequent and severe
natural disasters. By taking action now to reduce our impact on the environment, we
can help to mitigate these effects and prevent further damage from occurring.

Another reason why I want to adopt a more environmentally conscious lifestyle is

because I believe that it will lead to a happier, healthier life for myself and those
around me. By reducing my waste and conserving energy, I will be able to save money
on my utility bills and reduce my overall consumption. Additionally, I will be able to
enjoy the benefits of fresh air, clean water, and a thriving ecosystem. By living in
harmony with the natural world, I believe that I will be able to live a more fulfilling and
meaningful life.

B. What techniques/processes worked or did not work for you in the above
process?

TECHNIQUES THAT WORKED FOR ME

Becoming more environmentally aware and adopting sustainable lifestyle practices
can be a challenging task, but with the right techniques and mindset, it is achievable.
In my own journey to become more environmentally conscious, I have implemented
several techniques and practical steps in my day-to-day life. These techniques have
helped me reduce waste, conserve energy, and adopt more sustainable lifestyle
practices.

Staying informed about environmental issues: One of the first techniques that I used
to achieve my objective was to educate myself about environmental issues. I made it
a priority to stay informed about the latest research and developments
Write a title. in the field of
sustainability. I read books and articles about climate change, waste reduction, and
sustainable living, and watched documentaries and videos about environmental
issues. This helped me understand the importance of making changes in my own life
and motivated me to take action. Write a title.

I read two articles:

·"Why We Need to Eat Less Meat" by Brian Kateman (TED Ideas)
·"The Climate Solution Actually Adding Millions of Tons of CO2 Into the
Atmosphere" by Max J. Rosenthal (Mother Jones)

PAGE 11
I watched the following Documentaries:
·"An Inconvenient Truth" (2006)
·"Chasing Coral" (2017)
·"Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things" (2015)

These are some of the YouTube channels and Instagram pages that help me to stay
informed about sustainable practices:

YouTube Channels:
Sustainable Human
TED Talks
Our Changing Climate
The Story of Stuff Project
Trash is for Tossers

Instagram Pages:
@going.zero.waste
@zerowastehome
@trashisfortossers
@sustainably_vegan
@plasticpollutes

Making small changes: Another technique that I used was to make small, incremental
changes in my lifestyle. This was a suggestion given to me by our Peace studies
faculty Mr. Mandar Bapat Sir. He says, “What is measurable is achievable.” Thus, I
Write a title.
didn't try to make drastic changes all at once, as this can be overwhelming and
unsustainable. Instead, I focused on making small changes that I could realistically
implement in my day-to-day life. For example,
1. I started by reducing my use of single-use plastics, such as plastic bags and
straws, and bringing my own reusable bags and containersWrite whenashopping.
title.
2. I reading about energy conservation and sustainable development.
3. I also started buying products with minimal packaging, and recycling as much as
possible.

PAGE 12
4. To conserve energy, I made a conscious effort to turn off lights and appliances
when not in use, unplugged chargers and electronics when they weren't in use, and
invested in energy-efficient appliances and light bulbs.
5. I also reduced my overall water consumption by taking shorter showers, fixing
leaks promptly, and using a low-flow showerhead.
6. In addition to these techniques, I also made changes in my diet and transportation
habits. I started eating more plant-based meals, which have a lower environmental
impact than meat-based meals, and buying locally grown produce to reduce the
carbon footprint of transportation.
7. I also started walking instead of driving short distances and using public
transportation or carpooling whenever possible.

CHALLENGES FACED
As I worked to become more environmentally aware and adopt sustainable lifestyle
practices, I also encountered techniques that did not help me achieve my objective.
While some of these techniques may work for others, they were not effective for me.
Here are some of the techniques that did not work for me:

1.Guilt or shame: Trying to guilt or shame myself into making environmentally

conscious choices did not work for me. Instead, it made me feel overwhelmed and
stressed, which made it harder for me to make positive changes. While it's important
to recognize the impact that our actions have on the environment, it's not helpful to
beat ourselves up for past mistakes or to focus solely on negative consequences.

2.All or nothing thinking: Adopting an all-or-nothing approach, where I tried to

Write a title.
completely eliminate all environmentally harmful practices from my life at once, did
not work for me. This approach was too drastic and made it harder for me to stick to
my goals in the long term. Instead, I found it more helpful to make small, incremental
changes over time.
Write a title.
3.Overconsumption of environmentally-friendly products: At times, I found myself
overconsuming environmentally-friendly products, thinking that by buying more
sustainable items, I was doing my part to help the environment. However, this
approach is not sustainable, as it still contributes to the consumer culture that is at

PAGE 13
the root of many environmental problems. Instead, I try to make do with what I have
and only purchase what I need.

4.Perfectionism: Trying to be perfect in my environmentally conscious choices was

not helpful. It's important to recognize that perfection is not attainable, and making
mistakes is a natural part of the learning process. It's okay to slip up and make
environmentally harmful choices from time to time, as long as we learn from those
mistakes and strive to do better in the future.

The key is to experiment and find what works best for you, and to approach the
process with a positive mindset and a willingness to learn and make changes over
time. By being open-minded and flexible, we can continue to make progress towards
a more environmentally sustainable future.

C. Were you successful in implementing what you had planned?

REPORT ON ACHIEVING ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUSNESS:

This month, I have been working to become more environmentally conscious by

reducing waste, conserving energy, and adopting sustainable lifestyle practices. I am
pleased to report that I have made significant progress towards this goal, and I am
excited to share the details of my journey.
Here is a breakdown of my progress towards environmental consciousness over the
past month:

Week 1: (5 April- 12 April)

Write a title.
Began bringing my own reusable bags to the grocery store.
Started reading and watching videos on energy conservation.

Write a title.
Week 2: (13 April- 19 April)

Started turning off lights and electronics when not in use.

Used natural light and fresh air instead of using lights and air conditioning.
Switched to cold water for washing clothes.

PAGE 14
Week 3: (20 April- 26 April)
Walked instead of driving whenever possible.
Took public transportation when needed.
Supported local farmers by purchasing their produce at the farmers' market.

Week 4: (27 April- Current day)

Eating a plant-based diet for the entire week.
Using energy-efficient light bulbs and appliances.
Continued all of the above habits consistently.

I am satisfied with the progress that I have made towards becoming more
environmentally conscious. By reducing waste, conserving energy, and adopting
sustainable lifestyle practices, I have been able to make a positive impact on the
environment. While there is always room for improvement, I am committed to
continuing these habits and exploring new ways to reduce my environmental
footprint.

D. What research is done in this area in modern and ancient science and Spirituality
field for self-Improvement/Habit changes/growth/Evolution of Consciousness?

In modern science, there is a significant amount of research on the relationship

between environmental awareness and personal growth. Many studies have shown
that people who are more environmentally conscious are also more likely to engage
in pro-social behavior, feel greater connectedness to nature, and have a stronger
sense of purpose and meaning in life. Write a title.

There is also research on the impact of mindfulness and meditation practices on

environmental consciousness. Studies have found that mindfulness and meditation

sustainable behavior and reduce environmental stress.

In Hinduism, there is a strong emphasis on living in harmony with nature. This belief is
rooted in the concept of dharma, which is the cosmic law that governs all aspects of
life. According to Hinduism, humans are not separate from nature, but rather a part of

PAGE 15
it. Therefore, it is important for humans to respect and protect nature, as it is seen as
sacred.

The idea of the panchamahabhutas, or the five elements, which make up all of
existence: earth, water, fire, air, and space. Each of these elements is seen as
sacred, and it is believed that they must be balanced and respected in order to
maintain harmony in the natural world.

Additionally, Hinduism promotes sustainable living practices, such as conservation,

recycling, and using renewable resources. For example, the practice of cow worship,
is deeply rooted in Hinduism, as cows are seen as sacred and are used for their milk
and dung in many sustainable ways.

Therefore, both modern science and ancient wisdom traditions suggest that
cultivating greater environmental awareness can be a powerful catalyst for personal
growth, self-improvement, and the evolution of consciousness.
