About this workbook
How can you use this workbook?
Think Academy's digitalised workbooks help learners develop the critical maths skills required to enter grammar
or independent school successfully.
Develop accuracy and efficiency in calculation, essential for solving questions quickly, through comprehensive
practices.
Establish confidence in mathematics, with the ability to absorb and adapt to new mathematical concepts
promptly.
Build a solid foundation in primary-level mathematics, using the building blocks necessary to approach more
complex problems and achieve ultimate mastery.
What's inside?
This workbook consists of daily exercises for learners to complete over one month.
Learners should aim to complete two sections each day: 'mental calculation' and 'written calculation'.
Top tips:
Keep an eye on the time! Note how long it takes the learner to complete each mental calculation exercise. We
recommend using this guide as a reference:
Under 10 minutes
Within 10 to 15 minutes
Above 15 minutes
There is no time limit for the written calculation section as the content and difficulty level varies each week.
Nevertheless, learners should still aim to be as quick as they can.
Make a note of mistakes and aim to track weekly progress.
Use the "Stars Missed" section to jot down the learner's mistakes.
Encourage the learner to correct their mistakes, colouring a star each time they successfully do so.
Review progress each week, consider how long it takes to complete each exercise and the frequency of
mistakes, as well as improvements.
The learner can use their accumulated stars to create a constellation at the end of the month!
