Social Problems And The Social Problem
Photo Essay Our world has many social problems that we try to solve or reduce in many different
ways. In order to solve them, we must first look for them. Tara Hardinge is my Sociology
professor. During her lecture, she stated that Social problem it is a social condition that a part of
society view as dangerous or harmful to members of society and there is a need to cure or remedy it
(Hardinge 2015). Linda Mooney, David Knox, and Caroline Schacht are Sociologyprofessors at East
Carolina University and are authors of the textbook Understanding Social Problems. Social
problems have objective and subjective lements to them. Mooney, Knox, and Schacht state that the
objective element of a social problem refers to the existence of a social condition (2). Mooney,
Knox and Schacht also state that the subjective element of a social problem refers to the belief that
a particular social condition is harmful to society or to a segment and that it should and can be
changed (3). Sociological imagination is a term developed by American Sociologist, C. Wright
Mills. Mooney, Knox, and Schacht state that Sociological imagination refers to the ability to see the
connections between our personal lives and the social world in which we live in (. Mooney, Knox,
and Schacht state that Sociologists use sociological imagination to distinguish between private
troubles and public issues and to see connections between the events and conditions of our lives and
the social and historical

In 1944 during the Holocaust a girl named Rose F. which see was 19 and her sister was 14.They
were both taken into a camp Rose would also tell her sister If you don t eat,you will die.Later in
the days they were both taken into different camps and separated apart from each other. As they
would go to a gate and meet their Rose would always give her sister food they she would eat. Then
the time that they had met each other the german soldiers might have seen Rose and her sister. So
her sister ran back to the camp. Then the next day and day after her sister had never came back to
her by the fence. That Rose had felt guilty because she thinks that it is her fault that the soldiers
could have killed her sister. i felt guilty for many years that maybe I should have run back and tried
to get her with me or stay with her. Maybe I didn t do enough to stay together Many people argue
that survivor s guiltis needed to define the survivor s guilt. Some people believe that survivor s
guilt is necessary.Others feel that survivor s guilt is not.Survivor s of life and death situations
should feel survivor s guilt. That survivor s guilt is a deep sense of guilt, combined often with
feelings of numbness and loss of interest in life, felt by those who have survived some catastrophe. It
was first noticed among survivors of the Holocaust.

One reason survivor s of life and Death situations should feel survivor s guilt because survivor s
guilt is an indicator of good morals . . . it means you re a
Liquid And Solid Substances Into Pure Forms
Introduction

Mixtures surround us in our daily environment but it is useful to be able to separate the substances
into pure forms. Sea salt is a good example of a pure form that we use in daily life that can be
separated from a solution.

A mixture is two or more substances that are not chemically bound together. You are able to
separate the components of a mixture if you take advantage of the different physical properties.
Sand is a solid substance because it is insoluble (does not dissolve) in water, whereas salt is soluble
(dissolves) in water and becomes a solution.

The techniques in this experiment are;

Filtration this is the process of separating liquid and solid substances by using a medium that only a
solvent and a solute can pass though. A filter paper contains tiny holes that only allow the filtrate to
pass though and only the residue remains.

Evaporation is the process of turning the water into a gaseous state by the means of increasing the
temperature to boiling.

Aim

Sand is insoluble and salt is soluble in water. A mixture of salt and sand can be separated by
dissolving, filtering and evaporating, to determine the quantitative composition.

Oscar Romero Analysis
Oscar Romero was a El Salvadoran Christian leader (archbishop of San Salvador) who was
dedicated to standing up for human rights and speaking out against the repression and persecution
of the El Salvadoran people. He was motivated by both personal and spiritual reasons, such as the
death of his friend and fellow priest, Father Grande, who was murdered by soldiers under orders of a
corrupt government, fuelled his desire to stop the corrupt endeavours of political leaders. He took
the mistreatment of people of the church, both with the torture and killings of priests and followers
alike, as a spiritual transgression and spoke out openly numerous times throughout his time as
archbishop. Despite the amount of overwhelming negative directed towards

Greed In Chaucer s Canterbury Tales
Kevin Shannon Due: 1 16 2015 H Brit Lit A Block Canterbury Tales Rough Draft By the times of the
Canterbury Tales, the Catholic Church, which governed nearly the entire continent of Europe, was
excessively wealthy. Incredibly expensive cathedrals were built around the shrines of saints, and the
amount of gold and reliquaries that went into building the cathedrals exceeded the budget of any
other organization. During this brutal century of disease, plague, famine, and scarce labor, the sight
of such a beautifully gilded cathedral seemed unjust to many people, and all preaching about greed
made the wealthy Church seem hypocritical. Common antipathy for the Church s luxurious tastes
resulted in tales of clergymen accepting bribes and indulging... Show more content on

Although the fact that no morsel from her lips did she let fall (Chaucer, 6) is a signal of
politeness in the Prioress, Chaucer s descriptions of the Prioress s etiquette declare that delicacy
is the embodiment of her activity in the Church. The Friar knows every tavern nearby and spends
most of his time playing the rote and singing ballads; he also showers fair wives with gifts such as
pocket knives and pins (Chaucer, 10). He is the finest beggar in the batch (Chaucer, 9), and can
coax a widow [who] hadn t a shoe (Chaucer, 10) to give him money. In opposition to the Church s
belief in not possessing material goods, the Prioress dresses in a neat cloak, with coral around her
arms, and a gold brooch about her neck (Chaucer, 7). As these religious figures focus on dressing
and eating, it seems as if their faith is turning into selfishness and
Similarities Between Hinduism And Christianity
Hinduism and Christianity Hinduism and Christianity are two religions that have been around for
thousands of years. Both religions since creation has developed philosophies on certain subjects that
can be compared and contrasted, to show the similarities and differences within Hinduism and
Christianity. Key subjects that can be analyzed after reviewing the history and foundation of these
religions are their: paths to enlightenment/salvation, the religions treatment of women, and the
afterlife. This paper will give a thorough and concise analysis through discussion with the inclusion
of comparing and contrasting embedded throughout this paper. One of the most important elements of

The main deities of the Hindu religion are Brahma and his two lieutenants named Shiva and Vishnu.
The god Vishnu is the creator, and Shiva is the destroyer. One is not looked upon as better than
the other. This shows the ultimate realism that the Hindu culture possesses. These are not the
only gods in Hindu culture. There are many others and all have special skills and talents. The
gods themselves also give birth to the idea of avatars, or the form of god when he or she comes to
earth. Perhaps the most important part of the philosophy of a religion lay in its path to
enlightenment. The main ideas of enlightenment come through the Four Ends of Life. The first of
these ends is Moksa. Moksa could be considered the realization of separation between the spiritual
self and the physical self. It is only through this realization that one can be released from the mortal
coil and allowed to spiritual liberty. It is through Moska that the Hindu follower becomes familiar
with the existence of the spiritual world. The second of the Four Ends of life is Kama. This end
says that we must pass through life in an ethical manner that brings about the most from life. This
includes learning its great values as well as experiencing its enjoyments. This protects the Hindu
follower from shutting out the physical world entirely. Artha is the third end and it deals with wealth
and material well being. It explains that
The Internal and External Conflicts of Willy Loman Essay
Individuals explore their responses to conditions of internal and external conflicts throughout
literature. Going in depth to a character allows the reader to better understand that character s
internal and external conflicts. Arthur Miller uses this technique in several of his plays, including
Death of a Salesman. Miller portrays the character of Willy Loman in Death of a Salesmanthrough
his internal and external conflicts. The internal conflictbegins with Willy s expectations for his sons
and The Woman. Willy struggles throughout the play with having extremely high expectations for
his sons, Happy and Biff. Happy and Willy get along well because they are most alike of the two
sons. Happy has the same materialistic mindset as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader can see this when The Woman says, I ll put you right through to the buyers, (Miller 39).
Thus, Willy has multiple expectations for his sons and The Woman. The internal conflict continues
with Willy s dreams. The beginning of the play tells us that it is about dreams (Eisinger 2). Willy
dreams of the American dream and family dreams. Willy characterizes the American dream as
success, which creates conflict within himself. Willy longs for the dream so much that he focuses
solely on achieving this goal that he loses desire for anything less. Willy interprets his desire for
success when he defines Dave Singleton:
And he was eighty four years old and he d drummed merchandise in thirty one states. And old
Dave he d go up to his room, y understand, put on his green velvet slippers I ll never forget and
pick up his phone and call the buyers, and without ever leaving his room at the age of eighty four,
he made his living. And when I saw that, I realized that selling was the greatest career a man could
want. (Miller 81)
Dave Singleton is a model for Willy because he shows that a salesman can be remembered, loved,
and helped in many different places in the country (Eisinger 4). The success of Dave is the American
dream that Willy desires. The American dream of having everything one wants.
Because Willy wants this corrupt dream so much, he longs for his family to have the same dream.
Happy does however,
