INTRODUCTION

THE HOLY COMMUNION has been an issue in many Christian circles,

with some believing in it, and others rejecting it, fearing of its misuse; and
to some, it must be an occasional ordinance. We also have a segment of the
faith community, who believe communion could be a daily affair, anytime
one feels inspired to take—of which I belong.
I have by God’s grace written two books on the Blood of Jesus: The
Mysteries of His Shed Blood, and The Mysteries of His Shed Blood (Work
Book). I thought I had finished writing on the Blood of Jesus, until, the
Holy Spirit inspired me on December 11, 2015, at about 4 am, teaching me
what I have never yet known about the Blood of Jesus—It’s sacredness to
the Godhead. That did not even encourage me to write another book on the
Blood of Jesus until He began talking to me about the Holy Communion.
What I have presented in this book, The Holy Communion, is the result
of the inspiration I received in August 2018. I, therefore, submit it, just like
the Apostles, Peter and John told the disabled man in Acts 3: “such as I
have, give I thee.”
I desire after the knowledge I have received to help anyone confused,
misguided or fear to handle the Holy Communion, to come to a place of
understanding the purpose of the death of Jesus Christ, and what the Holy
Communion is, and, learn how to benefit from it.
There are schools of thought as to what must be served or ministered for
the Communion. To some, whatever presented (bread, wafer, cookies, wine,
water, soda, etc.), becomes a representation of the body and blood of Jesus,
but I have come to know from a practical perspective that, whatever
presented, ceases to be a representation, but the ‘actual’ body and blood of
Jesus in the Spirit.
My experience of this fact was sometime in May 2000, when I served
communion in Manchester, Connecticut. The deacons responsible had set
the communion elements on the table and covered it with a white cloth
before my arrival for the service. After teaching on the subject, I led the
church in prayer and worship for a while, and when I was ready to serve the
communion, I turned to the table, and what I saw, changed my attitude
towards the Communion—the body and blood of Jesus.
When I turned to the table, I saw in a split second, as if a vision, that
instead of the Communion elements covered on the table, was the figure of
a person lying on the table and covered with a white cloth. The experience
changed my attitude and knowledge about the Communion we serve and
take, and I have never stopped talking about this experience.
Secondly, I have encountered personally many miracles, healings, and
deliverances by ministering communion to myself, not mentioning what
others I served, or encouraged to take the communion by themselves had
experienced. We would discuss some of the testimonies later.
I once heard about what happened when some Islamic jihadist entered a
Church in West Africa, ransacked the building and decided to desecrate the
Communion elements, by throwing them in the pathway, so that people may
walk on them. Moments later after that, herdsmen leading their cows to
graze came that way, with their cows leading and they behind.
When the cows got to where the Communion elements were scattered,
they diverted their way and refused to walk on them. One by one, the
herdsmen watched as the cows detoured and wondered what had caused
them to do that. On reaching the spot, they found ‘white’ elements on the
ground and asked what they were. A guy standing by explained to them that
what was on the pathway, was called wafer, used by the Church for
communion, an ordinance representing the body of Jesus Christ, the great
Christian prophet, who died to save mankind.
On hearing this, the herdsmen were astonished that even cows,
reverenced the body of Jesus, in the form of a wafer, and were convicted
and gave their lives to Jesus Christ.
When I heard the story, my explanation was, maybe, the angel of the
Lord came to protect the wafer, as it was scared as the body of Jesus.
When the herdsmen left, the villagers returned and collected the wafers
and returned them to the priests.
Friends, what we take for Communion is not just a wafer, bread or
cookies, but the body of Jesus Christ. What we drink, is not wine, soda or
water, but the blood of Jesus.
I pray I would be able to share what I received from the Lord precisely
as I received it. May His abundant grace be with us all. Amen.

THE ORIGIN

WE CANNOT UNDERSTAND and appreciate the purpose, efficacy, and

benefits of the application of the blood of Jesus Christ unless we get to the
source of it. The blood of Jesus Christ is not a mystery, but the mystery of
God the Father. To know and appreciate its shedding, one needs to go to
the beginning of beginnings, and learn of it.
We did not know much about the origin of the blood of Jesus until the
Apostle John received the revelation and made that known to us in the book
of Revelations.
All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not
been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation
of the world.
- Revelation 13:8

The above scripture reveals what took place before the establishment of
the foundations of the world. It also implies the blood of Christ, was shed
before anything created was created, including angels.
The Apostle Paul had this to say:

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom

which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the
rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have
crucified the Lord of glory.
- 1 Corinthians 2:7-8

Satan, with all his wisdom, intelligence, and abilities, could not discern
that the death of Jesus, would be his eternal defeat. Nobody, apart from the
Godhead, knew what the death of Jesus Christ was, and meant to the Father,
because He was the Lamb, slain before the foundations of the world.
The Father knew what His creation would face, but chose the only way
—the one way, to reclaim His creation legally; and that was through the
sacrificial death of Jesus. This accounts for Jesus’ statement in John 14:6.
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes
to the Father except through Me.
The Apostle John revealed this truth in 1 John 4:10.
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His
Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Propitiation is the act of appeasing wrath and conciliating the favor of

an offended person; so God determined the means for our redemption and
reconciliation, and the way was through the death of Jesus Christ.
When Jesus proclaimed that He was the way, the truth, and the life, He
was referring to how He had been slain before the foundations of the world,
to bring redemption, reconciliation, and restoration, to humanity. His blood
was our life. With this knowledge, our attitude toward the Holy
Communion should be different.

The Mystery of Salvation

The concept of salvation was the Father’s idea, and the reason He chose
to redeem His creation that way, will remain a mystery to us, for as long as
we are mortals. God could have chosen several modes, to save us, but He
decided to redeem us through the shedding of the blood of His beloved Son,
Jesus. What we know, as mortals, is the way of salvation, through Jesus
Christ.
In John 6, Jesus taught the people that came to Him that He was the
only way through which man “must be saved.” A look into the scriptures
gives us a glimpse of what was determined and took place in heaven.
I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of
this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My
flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world." The Jews, therefore,
quarreled among themselves, saying, "How can this Man give us His
flesh to eat?" Then Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you,
unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you
have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has
eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food
indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks
My blood abides in Me, and I in him. As the living Father sent Me, and
I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of
Me.
- John 6:51-57

There are four deductions we can safely make out of the above
scriptures, to help us understand how our salvation came to pass.

1. He was chosen to be our Redeemer – Jesus told the people, “I am

the Living Bread,” “I am the way, the truth, and the life,” and “I
am the door.” These are definite statements, and knowing who
Jesus is, He would not make those statements without the Father’s
approval.

2. He had the power to give eternal life – Jesus told His listeners,
“Whoever eats My flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life.”
Jesus indicated the authority vested in Him by the Father, to give
life to whoever accepted His substitutionary work.
3. He was chosen to be our Reconciliation - Jesus told the people,
“He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I
in Him.” In John 14:20 Jesus said, “At that day ye shall know that
I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.” This could only be
possible through the eating of His flesh and the drinking of His
blood. He summarized these John 5:24, saying, “Most assuredly,
I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent
Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has
passed from death into life.”

4. The Father sent Him - The knowledge and understanding that the
Father sent Jesus to come and save us, suggests there was
planning, agreement, and execution of something—the sacrifice of
Jesus as the Lamb of God. He said in John 4:34, "My food is to do
the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.”

We can conclusively make the assumption, the Father called a meeting,

comprising of Himself, The Word (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit, and made
known to them His dream and what He anticipated happening to it, and how
it would have to be redeemed. He may have gone ahead and discussed with
them the manner through which that redemption would take.
The above might have led to the decision that blood had to be sacrificed
to purchase the salvation of His creation; that was the Father’s will. So
when all was set and done, Jesus might have offered to be the One to bring
salvation to humanity. I believe this led to a discussion on the shedding of
blood, and that led to Jesus to become the Lamb of God.
Jesus being the Lamb of God indicates, He was made so by the Father
for Himself and His purpose, and that qualified Him to be the “begotten” of
the Father (John1:14). There is no scripture, that refers to the Holy Spirit as
the begotten of the Father, because He maintained His personality as God
throughout, and was never recreated to conform to any of the Father's
creation; except Jesus.
I hope you are getting the picture clearer as to how unique and vital the
Lamb of God is to the Father, and the role the Holy Spirit plays when it
comes to the Lamb of God and His blood.
Our salvation from sin, death, and hell, was settled even before creation.
Through Jesus Christ’s sacrifice, God translated us from the power of
darkness, into the kingdom of His dear Son (Colossians 1:13).

The concept of Jesus dying, by the shedding of His blood, was to fulfill
the will of the Father. So to do this, He had to take on a frame (the form of
a man), with blood, so that He could be the sacrifice the Father desired; just
as He was made the Lamb and sacrificed before the foundations of the
world. In other words, the death of Jesus on earth was a replay of what had
transpired before creation. Having accepted to be the propitiation, He had
only one goal, to fulfill the will of the Father.

Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and
to finish His work.
- John 4:34

Moments before his betrayal, He went to the garden of Gethsemane to

pray.
Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to
the disciples, "Sit here while I go and pray over there." And He took
with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be
sorrowful and deeply distressed. Then He said to them, "My soul is
exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me."
He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O
My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not
as I will, but as You will." Then He came to the disciples and found
them asleep, and said to Peter, "What? Could you not watch with Me
one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit
indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." Again, a second time, He went
away and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away
from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done."
- Matthew 26:36-42 (Emphasis mine)
We, therefore, can conclude, that the concept, provision, and plan for
redemption, all originated from the Father.

THE EXECUTION

ONE THING WE KNOW about the Father is that He knows the end of
everything from the beginning. That means He finishes a thing before He
let it play out. A great example is “the” provision for our salvation.
Adam’s fall was no shock to God; it tells of the attribute of God as
Omniscience. He knew this before Adam was created, and made the
provision for his salvation, just as He knew we would fail Him, and sent
His Son to die for us.
When Adam sinned, and God confronted him in the garden of Eden,
God made known to the devil His provision for the redemption of Adam.
So the LORD God said to the serpent: "Because you have done this,
You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the
field; On your belly, you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days
of your life. And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And
between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you
shall bruise His heel."
- Genesis 3:14-15 (Emphasis mine).

God then proceeded and as He had done before the foundation of the
world, applied that redemptive package for Adam, by killing a goat,
shedding its blood to cover the sins of Adam, and clothing Adam with the
skin of the goat.
Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made tunics of skin, and
clothed them.
- Genesis 3:21

When I was being prepared by the Holy Spirit to write this book, I had
an inspiration from Him, teaching me what the above scripture signified.
1. God had to exchange the life of Adam, with that of the goat. In
Genesis 2, 15 – 17, God said:

Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden
to tend and keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying,
"Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you
eat of it you shall surely die." (Emphasis mine).

God, in fulfillment of His word, had to either kill Adam or spare

Adam. Sparing Adam without an exchange would violate His word as
God, and that was why He had to kill the goat in exchange.

2. Adam’s sin was taken care of – We saw from Chapter one, how
God made Jesus Christ become the Lamb of God and slain before
the foundation of the world (Revelations 13:8). It was for all
humanity, and Adam was the first recipient of this grace. Until
Christ came to take away sin, sin was “covered” by the sacrifice of
blood—that was what Adam had (Genesis 3:21). So the blood of
the goat shed, cleansed Adam form his sin.

3. Adam received forgiveness – The proof of God’s mercy for Adam,

was the coat of skin he wore. The Spirit of God revealed to me
that for Adam to know his sins had been taken care of, God
clothed him with the skin of the goat, and for as long as Adam
wore that “coat,” he was reminded of God’s forgiveness—
covering his sins. That is why Jesus said, “do this in remembrance
of Me,” (Luke 22:19), and the Apostle Paul said, “as often as you
eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord’s death till
He comes.” Anytime we take the Communion we must be
reminded of our salvation, forgiveness, reconciliation, and
restoration.

4. Adam lived under grace - In Genesis 3:17 – 19, God cursed Adam,
but after He had taken care of Adam’s sins, Adam received grace
to live on the earth that had been cursed and lived for 930 years,
raised a family, and has become the source of all humanity. When
you take the communion, G.R.A.C.E. (God’s Riches At Christ’s
Expense) is released upon your life, to live, prosper, and to please
God—you become the righteousness of God in Him (2
Corinthians 5:21).

God’s proclamation
We read from Revelations 13:8 that Jesus was slain before the
foundation of the world.

All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not
been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the
foundation of the world.

The above scripture makes it clear no created being, not even angels,
and that includes Satan, was aware such an act had taken place. This is what
the Apostle Paul refers to in 2 Corinthians 2:7 – 8.
But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom
which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the
rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have
crucified the Lord of glory.
- 1 Corinthians 2:7-8

Since nobody knew this, and it was a mystery—the mystery of God,

God decided to reveal to humanity what was to come, even to Satan, in the
garden of Eden.
In Isaiah 53: 3 - 11, we see God reveal in detail to the prophet, what the
Messiah—the Lamb of God, slain before the foundation of the world,
would come to do and accomplish.
He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted
with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was
despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by
God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions; He
was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was
upon Him, And by His stripes, we are healed. All we like sheep have
gone astray; We have turned, everyone, to his own way; And the
LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and
He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb
to the slaughter, And as a sheep, before its shearers is silent, So He
opened not His mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment,
And who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the
land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was
stricken. And they made His grave with the wicked-- But with the rich
at His death, Because He had done no violence, Nor was any deceit in
His mouth. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to
grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His
seed, He shall prolong His days, And the pleasure of the LORD shall
prosper in His hand. He shall see the labor of His soul, and be
satisfied. By His knowledge, My righteous Servant shall justify many,
For He shall bear their iniquities.

Gleaning from the above scriptures, we see:

a) He would be despised and rejected – Nobody had a clue as to His

passion, and so when He was arrested and tortured, nobody could
sympathize with Him, let alone, help Him out. God made it so because
He was fulfilling the Father’s plan for our redemption (verse 3). Even
the religious leaders, could not know or understand His mission but
developed an extreme hatred for Him.
Now it was Caiaphas who advised the Jews that it was expedient that
one man should die for the people.
- John 18:14

b) He would be our propitiation (atoning sacrifice) – He bore our

griefs, carried our sorrows, wounded for our transgression, bruised for
our iniquities, paid for our peace, and healed through the stripes He
received on His back. These were what we could not do for ourselves,
and He had to go through for us. His passion was the enactment of
what took place as the Lamb of God.

c) He would be our Savior – Jesus took our sins upon Himself and gave
us His righteousness. That was why on the cross, He cried, “My God,
My God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46). At that
moment, the sins of humanity were on Him, and the Father had turned
from Him because of that. He paid it all.

d) He would be our substitute – When Jesus appeared before Pilate, He

was silent and would not defend Himself, because He had taken it
upon Himself, our guilt, and was ready to pay the high price. (Isaiah
53:7 - 8).

e) He would fulfill the desire of the Father - The Father was pleased
with Him because Jesus did not disappoint Him, but accomplished the
task as it was agreed on. When He had finished His assignment, Jesus
cried, “It is finished.” Because He was able to fulfill the desire of the
Father, He was able to secure our salvation, and that gave Him joy,
seeing His sacrifice bringing us back to the Father. Before His passion,
Jesus declared, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.” He knew that
the only way for humanity to be reconciled back to God would be
through His sacrificial death—passion.

Peter has this to say:

Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully,
who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, searching what,
or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was
indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and
the glories that would follow.
- 1 Peter 1:10-11

The Holy Spirit through King David prophesied and gave a graphic
description of the passion of Christ, as seen in Psalm 22. Here are a few of
them:

a) Verse 6 – “But I am a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and

despised by the people.”
We see this as prophesied in Isaiah 53:3, and at His crucifixion.

b) Verses 7 & 8 - “All those who see Me ridicule Me; They shoot out the
lip, they shake the head, saying, "He trusted in the LORD, let Him
rescue Him; Let Him deliver Him since He delights in Him!"

We saw this play out when He hung on the cross.

And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and
saying, "You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save
Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross."
Likewise, the chief priests also, mocking with the scribes and elders,
said, "He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King of
Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe
Him. He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him;
for He said, 'I am the Son of God.' " Even the robbers who were
crucified with Him reviled Him with the same thing.
- Matthew 27:39-44

c) Verses 14 – 18 – “I am poured out like water, And all My bones are

out of joint; My heart is like wax; It has melted within Me. My strength
is dried up like a potsherd, And My tongue clings to My jaws; You have
brought Me to the dust of death. For dogs have surrounded Me; The
congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me. They pierced My hands
and My feet; I can count all My bones. They look and stare at Me.
They divide My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast
lots.”

All of these were revealed to David by the Holy Spirit, only to see them
manifested in the life of the Messiah.
When the angel Gabriel appeared unto Mary, his message was:
Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have
found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb
and bring forth a Son and shall call His name JESUS.
- Luke 1:30-31

To Joseph her husband, this was the message:

And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for
He will save His people from their sins."
- Matthew 1:21

These messages confirmed the will of the Father and the assignment the
Messiah had to accomplish. The prophet Isaiah had prophesied in Isaiah
7:14, “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin
shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”
Emmanuel means, “God with us.” When angel Gabriel appeared to Mary,
he introduced His name as Jesus. In effect, he was telling Mary, you are
going to give birth to a “God-Son.”
We know before the foundation of the world, the Lamb was slain, and
as the Lamb, and not God, it had blood. Was that “blood” shed before the
foundation of the world what was put into Mary to bring forth Jesus? The
conception of Jesus is a mystery.
Because the Lamb was slain before creation, only the Trinity—God the
Father, God the Son (the Word, and the Lamb), and the Holy Spirit were
there, and if it was the Son, who became the Lamb, then the principal
witness, was the Holy Spirit.
When Gabriel appeared to Mary, he said:
And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come
upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you;
therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son
of God.
- Luke 1:35 (Emphasis mine).

The above reveals the role the Holy Spirit played in the shedding,
reception, keeping and depositing the “blood” in the womb of Mary. How
could we then take the passion of Christ, light, and more so important, the
body and the blood we take as communion?
No wonder the Apostle Paul warned us in 1 Corinthians 11 about what
to do before we take the communion.
For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that
the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took
bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take,
eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance
of Me." In the same manner, He also took the cup after supper, saying,
"This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you
drink it, in remembrance of Me." For as often as you eat this bread
and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.
Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an
unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But
let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of
the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and
drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this
reason, many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.
- 1 Corinthians 11:23-30

A study of the above scripture reveals that Jesus gave His body (bread)
and blood (wine) for us before His crucifixion; meaning, He gave Himself
for us.
Secondly, because we live in an imperfect world, there would be the
need for us to continue in the spirit and power of His sacrifice daily until He
comes, or we meet Him, and so He admonished us to take it as often as we
could, in remembrance of Him—proclaiming His death.
Thirdly, we need to examine ourselves, before taking the communion.
This instruction has led many to avoid it because they think, only those who
have no sin, may receive the communion. What the Apostle Paul was
teaching was that, we should not just wake up and decide to take the
communion, but instead, take it on purpose, having the passion of Christ, in
mind. More on this later.
Fourthly, anyone who eats or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy
manner will be guilty of the body and the blood; he concluded that this had
been the cause of some casualties, and even death of some people.
What a serious issue. We have the privilege and grace to receive of and
from the Lord as many times as we deem necessary, but when done without
caution, could have consequences.
What this tells us, that the sacrifice of Jesus as the Lamb before the
foundation of the world means more to the Father than we know—the
mystery to be unfolded to us in eternity.

THE BREAD AND THE WINE

WE SERVE THE HOLY COMMUNION with bread (or wafer) and wine.
In situations where bread or wafer might not be available, cookies, or
anything worthy, is used. When it comes to the wine, many use grape juice,
while some use anything they could lay hands on, even water.
Some people erroneously, declare these elements are a representation of
the body and the blood of Jesus. The truth is, these elements were not to be
a representation but to as the actual body and blood of Jesus.
In Matthew 26:26, we read:
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and
gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is My body."
(Emphasis mine).
In John 6, when Jesus addressed the Jews, He said:
This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of
it and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If
anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I
shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world." The
Jews, therefore, quarreled among themselves, saying, "How can this
Man give us His flesh to eat?" Then Jesus said to them, "Most
assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and
drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and
drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who
eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him.
- John 6:50-56 (Emphasis mine).

In the passage above we see Jesus address the Jews, telling them until
they ate His flesh and drank His blood, they would not have eternal life.
But, at the last supper with His disciples, He did not cut His flesh for them
to eat but instead gave them bread.
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and
gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is My body."
- Matthew 26:26 (Emphasis mine).

I believe this must settle the argument that the bread we take, whether
by our own or in Church, is the body of Jesus Christ, and not a
representation.
The Apostle Paul had this to add to what Jesus had said:

For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that
the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took
bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take,
eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance
of Me." In the same manner, He also took the cup after supper, saying,
"This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you
drink it, in remembrance of Me."
- 1 Corinthians 11:23-25

Paul concludes with a warning, making it even more convincing that the
bread we eat, is His actual body.
For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks
judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this reason,
many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.
- 1 Corinthians 11:29-30 Emphasis mine).

Paul made it clear through this scripture above that the bread we eat and
the blood we drink are the Lord’s body (not a representation). Therefore,
anyone who eats and drinks it in an unworthy manner would be guilty of
the body and the blood, attracting judgment to themselves, because they did
not discern the Lord’s body—they did not see the bread, as the body of
Jesus.
I recounted my experience with this truth earlier in the Introduction
when I was serving communion in Manchester, Connecticut. We had laid
the table, covered it with a white cloth, and in a split second, the Lord
opened my eyes into the spirit realm, and I saw as it was, a young man
lying on the table and covered with the cloth. This was when I realized what
we take as bread, is actually to God, the body of Jesus.
I believe the reason why many people have not experienced any miracle
out of this ordinance is that they have not as yet known or considered what
they take as the body and blood of Jesus. When you see it like bread, and
not able to reflectively see it as the body of Jesus in reality, you would gain
little from it. The moment you begin seeing it as the real body and blood of
Jesus, two things would happen to you.
1. Your attitude toward the communion would change. You will now
approach it with some reverence.
2. You would be in anticipation for a miracle or blessing from the
Lord, according to the need that made you take it.

THE FATHER AND THE SACRIFICE

IN “40 DAYS IN HEAVEN”[1], by Seneca Sodi and written by Rev. Elwood

Scott, he tells of how when he asked Moses a question about the kingdom
of God, while in heaven, Moses replied that as far as we are mortals, we
cannot understand what it is. The inference here is this, though we may
ascribe many interpretations and illumination to these ordinances and
doctrines, we will always fall short of the full truth.
The Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 13: 9, had this to say:

For we know in part and we prophesy in part.

The question we need to ask ourselves are:

1. What motivated the Father, to sacrifice His Son, as the Lamb of

God, before the foundation of the world?

2. How did Jesus become the Lamb?

3. What did the Father say and anticipated that the sacrifice of Jesus
would do for us?

4. Why are we to take the body and the blood continually, and not
just once, since Jesus died once?
5. Why is Jesus referred to as the Lamb of God, by John the Baptist,
and even in the book of Revelations, and reference is made of His
blood, as the blood of the Lamb?

Before creation
No mortal knows and understands the Father as we sometimes want
others to think we do. The day humanity understands the mysteries of God,
God would cease to be God.
The Father knew what would happen to His creation, but He still went
ahead to do what was in His heart. To secure His dream, He proceeded to
make available a redemption plan, through the sacrifice of the Lamb before
He continued with His agenda.
I believe when He created and made Lucifer an anointed cherub, He
knew what Lucifer was capable of doing. I want to think the Father would
look into the face of Lucifer and would say in His heart, “I know who you
would be; I have my back covered.” Though the Father knew the evil that
would befall His creation through Lucifer, who became Satan, God still
gave him the opportunity to do what he was created to be.
Whenever God calls anybody, He does not do that hoping the person
would not fail Him; He knows the very breath and steps of the person and
how he or she would turn out to be, but He still goes ahead of His plans and
does what is in His heart. This must be a warning to some of us, that
whoever and whatever we do, we must make sure we are not detached from
our Source.
One thing that keeps me thinking about the majesty and wisdom of the
Almighty is His ability to contain all the trash we produce in His name and
His kingdom, ascribing it to His grace. Interestingly, though He knew it all,
He still created us. His love, patience, and tolerance are beyond man’s
understanding. I want to believe there would be classes[2] in heaven to teach
us more about God when we make it there.
No one, knowing who would turn against him would give that person
the opportunity even to come close, but though the Father knew Lucifer
would turn against Him, he still gave him a chance. The Father knew that
Adam would fail Him, but He still prepared a glorious garden—the garden
of Eden, for him. What could make God do these? What was He up to,
allowing us to fail Him, break His heart, and still, sacrifice His Son, who
knew no sin, just, righteous, holy and faithful to Him, for us?
Jesus, the Son of God, and the second in the Godhead, just like His
Father, knew who Judas was, what he would do, but still, chose Judas to be
part of His disciples, and committed to him, the finances of His ministry.
Wow!
Jesus knew Peter would deny Him, but He still chose Him as the leader
of the twelve, and after Peter had done just what Jesus said he would do,
Jesus goes looking for Him after His resurrection, not to scold him, but to
restore him and encourage him to do what He called him to do.
You may be struggling within you because you see yourself failing the
Father daily; to you, I have a great word—be encouraged, the blood of
Jesus is speaking for you. Rise, accept your shortfalls, call upon Him for
mercy, and trust His grace to help you. He has your back.
One other important thing we need to consider seriously is the giving of
the Holy Spirit, who is the third person of the Godhead, to abide in us, with
us and upon us. We will discuss this later.
Everything we have seen in this life, about our salvation, was planned
before we showed up; and to those of us living, Jesus came to fulfill it for
us to know the love and mind of God for us two thousand years ago. It calls
for a more in-depth look into the subject of our salvation—the passion of
Christ, and the cost to the Godhead. No wonder the Apostle Paul said:

How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the

first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those
who heard Him.
- Hebrews 2:3

Friend, your failures, betrayals, and unfaithfulness, does not shock God,
but what shocks Him, is when you fail and refuse to run to Him, through
His Son, for forgives and restoration.
The Father has provided what we need to be made whole so that we can
grow, mature and become like His Son. Why not seek to know and
understand what the scriptures have said, and ask the Holy Spirit, to help
you live and be like God?
The Father loved and gave His only begotten Son for us. He did not do
that when we failed Him, but even before we came on the scene. His love
for us was revealed in His readiness to give His Son for us, in exchange for
our guilt.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
- John 3:16

By this, we know love because He laid down His life for us. And we
also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
- 1 John 3:16

Great sacrifice
The mysterious event the universe has known is the sacrifice of Jesus as
the Lamb of God. Everything that has happened, and would come to pass in
future, be it the rapture, the resurrection of the saints, the coming down of
the new heaven and the new earth, all take their source from the sacrifice of
the Lamb, for without it, we would not have seen the light of day. Paul said
in Romans 8:32:
He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all,
how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
One question we need to ask ourselves and trust the Holy Spirit to help
us understand, is, “What transpired between the Godhead, for a decision to
be taken as to the sacrificing of a Lamb.” And, “What process, and
procedures, were undertaken, to get the Lamb sacrificed?”
In real life, sacrifices are not just made. One has to have a reason for it,
undergo some form of teaching to know what to give and what to receive,
as well as what to say either before, during or after the sacrifice, or during
the procedure. It, therefore, stands to believe the Father did not just proceed
with the offering of the sacrifice, without speaking—making declarations,
before, during, and after the sacrifice.
Whatever the Father said, or did, is not on record, for it is the secret of
the Godhead, but at least, we could, from the scriptures, have an idea of
some of the things that could have transpired. I also firmly believe that
though it has not been written in the holy scriptures, the Lord is ready to
reveal and show to anyone who He deems fit.
The Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 2:9 - 11, has this to say:
But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered
into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those
who love Him." But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit.
For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For
what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which
is in him? Even so, no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of
God.
- 1 Corinthians 2:9-11

In the above scripture, the Apostle Paul makes it clear that we cannot
know the things of God except by the Holy Spirit. He refers to them as the
“deep things” of God. Dr. Kruger in his book[3], explains that the “things” in
Genesis 22:1, could mean, “words.” If so, we could conclusively say, what
the Apostle Paul said meant, the “deep sayings” or “words spoken from the
depth of God’s heart,” and if so, it could not have been at any time but
before, during and after the sacrifice of the Lamb.
I do not want to speculate, but I want to draw your attention to some of
the promises, intention, and expectations of us, as revealed in the scriptures
all because of our redemption.
1. Even creation (the plants, animals, the weather, angels, etc.) expect
us to reveal Christ in us, because of what we have received. They
are waiting for us to oversee God’s creation, just as Adam was in
the garden; it has to do with everything created. I have seen and
experienced, what we could do when we allow the Lord to oversee
our lives, to the intent of commanding even “mother nature,” to
obey us, just as Jesus did.
For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the
revealing of the sons of God.
- Romans 8:19

2. The assistance made available to us through the Holy Spirit after

our salvation. He knows what God expects of us, what we need,
what we go through, and helps us present our petition to the Father
according to His will. What could cause the third Person in the
Godhead—the Holy Spirit, to reside with, and in man—an
imperfect being, but for the sacrifice of Jesus?
Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know
what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes
intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
- Romans 8:26

3. We are to become joint-heirs with Jesus Christ.

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of
God, and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with
Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified
together.
- Romans 8:16-17

How could we become one with Jesus Christ, and not be in the Father?
And if the price to pay for us to be heirs of God and joint-heirs with
Christ, was His passion, then we should count the sacrificial death of
Christ as the most important act to God. Do you notice that the Bible
did not say, we would be like angels but like Jesus?
Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed
what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be
like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
- 1 John 3:2
Someone may ask, how, seeing we are so imperfect? The answer is in
1 John.

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with

one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all
sin.
- 1 John 1:7
Our security is to walk in the light (of the word of God), and in it, we
would be covered by the blood of Jesus Christ, which would take away
any sin in us, so that when He appears, we shall see Him as He is, just
as we would be.

4. Jesus promised us in Revelations 3:14 - 22, through the Apostle

John, that if we overcome the world, He will grant us the
opportunity to sit with Him on His throne. How could we? If we
do not become apathetic and follow after the things of this world.
We have His blood to assist us to fight the good fight of faith, and
to overcome all the temptations of the flesh, responding to His
call,
To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I
also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
- Revelation 3:21
Jesus overcame the temptations by Satan, not only after His fasting at
the beginning of His ministry, but even in the garden of Gethsemane, the
devil wanted Him to abort the plan agreed with His Father, to shed His
blood on earth as it was done in heaven before the foundation of the world.
The secret is this: even though the sacrifice had taken place already in
heaven, there was the need for the sake of humanity, not present then, to
know what the Father through Jesus Christ had secured for us, to equip us
to overcome.
Similarly, our lives were determined and written in a book before our
birth (creation), and whatever we needed to overcome had also been
provided, so God expects us to overcome and not fail. We cannot overcome
on our own but through the shed blood.
The above is what made the Apostle Paul declare we are more than
conquerors.
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who
loved us.
- Romans 8:37
The above should encourage us to desire the Holy Communion daily
since our victory over sin and Satan, hangs on it.

THE BODY AND THE BLOOD

IN CHAPTER FOUR, I tried answering the two questions I put forth:

“What transpired between the Godhead, for a decision to be taken as to the
sacrificing of a Lamb.” And, “What process, and procedures, were
undertaken, to get the Lamb sacrificed?”
In the introduction to the book, I tried making a case for what we could
use as bread and wine. In this chapter, we would be looking into this from
another perspective. What we would be discussing would be why the Lamb
as bread, as well as, why the blood as wine.

Jesus—the Lamb and the Bread

Much as we cannot go into the specifics as to how the Father might
have transformed Jesus into a Lamb, all we need to know is He became the
Lamb of God. Period.
When Jesus was preaching to the Jews in John 6, He told them that if
they did not eat of His flesh and drink His blood, they will not have eternal
life.
Then Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat
the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in
you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I
will raise him up at the last day…..This is the bread which came down
from heaven--not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who
eats this bread will live forever."
- John 6:53-54,58

All through the scriptures, we see Him revealed as the Lamb of God, in
one way or the other. When the Pharisees challenged Him, this is what He
had to say in John 5:39:
You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life;
and these are they which testify of Me.

Jesus the Bread of life

In John 6, Jesus told the people, “I am the bread of life” (verse 35). The
people had told Him, Moses gave them the bread in the wilderness, and this
was His reply:

Then Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not
give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true
bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from
heaven and gives life to the world." Then they said to Him, "Lord, give
us this bread always." And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life.
He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me
shall never thirst.
- John 6:32-35

The people became offended because He said He was the bread of life:

The Jews then complained about Him, because He said, "I am the
bread which came down from heaven." And they said, "Is not this
Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it
then that He says, 'I have come down from heaven'?"
- John 6:41-42
It was interesting the people were connecting Him to Joseph, but they
might have forgotten or did not know, that Jesus was born in Bethlehem.
Even the wise men of Herod, the chief priests, and scribes, missed it, even
though they knew where Jesus would be born.
When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem
with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of
the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be
born. So they said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is
written by the prophet: 'But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, Are
not the least among the rulers of Judah; For out of you shall come a
Ruler Who will shepherd My people Israel.' "
- Matthew 2:3-6 (Emphasis mine).

Interestingly, the meaning of Bethlehem is the house of bread; and

Jesus, the bread of life, was born in Bethlehem—"the house of bread,”
confirming He was the “bread” that came down from heaven. So, the bread
we take for communion is indeed the body of Jesus Christ.

Abraham and the Lamb

When Abraham was journeying with Isaac to Mount Moriah to offer
him as a sacrifice unto the Lord, Isaac not knowing he was the “sacrifice,”
realized they had no animal, and so he confronted his father; this is what
Abraham said.

And Abraham said, "My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for
a burnt offering." So the two of them went together.
- Genesis 22:8

Abraham prophetically declared what God had done and was about to
do in the years to come; and indeed, God did provide, as in Genesis 22:13.

Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a
ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the
ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son.
The Father had provided for Himself the sacrifice needed for our
redemption; what a confirmation through Abraham’s test. The Apostle Peter
confirmed this in Acts 4:12:

Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under
heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
- Acts 4:12

Isaiah’s prophecy
The prophet Isaiah prophesied about the coming Messiah, as a Lamb.
He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth;
He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep, before its
shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth.
- Isaiah 53:7.

The above scripture was what happened when Jesus stood before Pilate.
He was like a sheep before its shearers, and opened not His mouth, because
He had taken our sins, our guilt and sentence of death upon Himself and
was ready to pay the price. No sheep argue or contend with its shearers or
resist when being sacrificed; neither did the Lamb of God.
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our
iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His
stripes, we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have
turned, everyone, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the
iniquity of us all.
- Isaiah 53:5-6

We have no excuse to remain where we fail, and not take advantage of

the divine provision for our deliverance, victory, and preservation. The
Apostle Paul had this to say:
Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump since
you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover was
sacrificed for us.
- 1 Corinthians 5:7

John the Baptist’s confirmation

When Jesus appeared by the river Jordan, where John the Baptist was
ministering, this was what he said about Jesus in John 1:29 and 35 – 36.
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold!
The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! …Again, the
next day, John stood with two of his disciples. And looking at Jesus as
He walked, he said, "Behold the Lamb of God!"

John received a revelation about Jesus before he saw Him, and to

confirm Jesus as the Lamb of God, was nothing but a divine act.
I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to
me, 'Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him,
this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.' And I have seen and
testified that this is the Son of God."
- John 1:33-34

John told his disciples he did not know Him, but he came as a
forerunner to Jesus’ ministry. He concluded that Jesus was the Son of God.
Wow! John then revealed to his disciples that the Man he introduced as the
Lamb of God, was, the Son of God.
Therefore, when we take communion, we must see it as God sees it: the
body and blood of Jesus Christ.

John the beloved’s confirmation

If any human being ever got so close, ate, slept, and handled the Son of
God, it was John the beloved. This was his testimony:
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we
have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands
have handled, concerning the Word of life—
- 1 John 1:1

This same John, who knew Jesus in His humanity, saw Him in
Revelations 1, as the Ancient of days:
I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, and I heard behind me a loud
voice, as of a trumpet, saying, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the
First and the Last," and, "What you see, write in a book and send it to
the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to
Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea."
Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I
saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the seven lampstands
One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and
girded about the chest with a golden band. His head and hair were
white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; His
feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the
sound of many waters; He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His
mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like
the sun shining in its strength. And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as
dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, "Do not be
afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead,
and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of
Hades and of Death.
- Revelation 1:10-18

This same John, after this revelation, now encounters Jesus as the Lamb
of God.
And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll
written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals. Then I saw a
strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, "Who is worthy to open
the scroll and to loose its seals?" And no one in heaven or on the earth
or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look at it. So I wept
much because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or
to look at it. But one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep. Behold,
the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open
the scroll and to loose its seven seals." And I looked, and behold, in
the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the
midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having
seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent
out into all the earth. Then He came and took the scroll out of the right
hand of Him who sat on the throne.
- Revelation 5:1-7 (Emphasis mine)

1. An angel proclaimed with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open

the scroll and to loose its seals?” but no one was found worthy.

2. When John wept, one of the elders in heaven told him not to weep,
and that the Lion of the tribe of Judah (Jesus), the root of David
(Jesus), had prevailed to open the scroll and to lose its seals. The
elder made a clear reference to Jesus, not as a Lamb, but His
humanity, just as John knew Him while on earth.

3. John now sees the personality described by the elder, as a Lamb

slain (Revelations 5:6).

If any human being knew Jesus very well, it was John, and now, he
describes the Lord Jesus, as a Lamb, as though it had been slain. That was
Jesus.
In Revelations 12:11, John the beloved had this to say:
Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and
strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ
have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before
our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him
by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they
did not love their lives to the death.
- Revelation 12:10-11 (Emphasis mine)

John revealed that the key to overcoming the devil and his demons was
through the blood of Jesus. He then concluded his revelation about Jesus as
the Lamb of God with this message in Revelations 15:

And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those
who have the victory over the beast, over his image and over his mark
and over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having
harps of God. They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and
the song of the Lamb, saying: "Great and marvelous are Your works,
Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints!
- Revelation 15:2-3 (Emphasis mine).

The above scriptures and testimonies of the Elders (Abraham, Isaiah,

John the Baptist, Peter, and John the beloved, to mention a few) make me
wonder why we pray using the blood of Jesus and not the blood of the
Lamb. I hope you too.
I want to believe we do not know the totality of the essence and the
power in the blood of Jesus. If we did, our attitude could be different, and
we would wreak havoc in the kingdom of darkness as never before. It is all
a matter of knowledge, faith, and experience. May the Lord help us get
there.

The blood of the Lamb

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is God, and as such, a Spirit Being. We all
know that Spirits do not have physical blood[4] , so Jesus had to become a
Lamb so that it could have physical blood to shed. This blood became
special, and it was also referred to as the blood of the sprinkling, which
appeared in the courts of heaven, speaking on behalf of the saints.
To Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of
sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.
- Hebrews 12:24

The blood that Jesus shed became a voice in the Courts of heaven,
speaking on our behalf, seeking mercy for us. When we take the
communion, we come before the Lord seeking help, and His blood takes
over and speaks for us.
Let us, therefore, come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may
obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
- Hebrews 4:16
The blood of Jesus had so much power that when it was shed on the
cross, it caused an earthquake, and resurrected the righteous dead.
Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom;
and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were
opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were
raised;
- Matthew 27:51-52

In Hebrews 9, we see how this blood—the blood of Jesus, cleanses

totally and even go to the extent of cleansing our conscience (soul) from
dead works.

For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling
the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more
shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered
Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works
to serve the living God?
- Hebrews 9:13-14

We need to acknowledge the truth that the blood speaks, and so anytime
we take the blood (wine) during communion, we need to say something
(pray), to add our voice to the voice of

THE PRELIMINARIES

WHEN GOD ANNOUNCED the coming of the seed of the woman to

bruise the head of the devil in Genesis 3, God did not stop there. He gave us
previews as to what the sacrifice of His Son would be, in terms of our
benefitting, through His dealings with some of our fathers, as individuals,
and through Israel, as a nation.

Abraham’s experience
The first man to prophecy about the sacrifice of the Lamb of God by the
Father was Abraham. We see this when Isaac asked him about the lamb.
And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb
for a burnt offering.” So the two of them went together.
- Genesis 22:8
Abraham also happened to be the first human to be served communion,
by no other than the priest of God, an angel who stands to minister to the
Father in His presence—Melchizedeck[5].
Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was
the priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said: “Blessed
be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; And
blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your
hand.” And he gave him a tithe of all.
- Genesis 14:18-20

Melchizedek, the priest of God, went to meet with Abraham after his
conquest and served Abraham (then Abram) communion—bread and wine
(body and blood of the Lamb). My guess is the Father provided the
communion to Abraham through Melchizedek, to physically and spiritually
separate Abram unto Himself, since He had chosen him to raise a people
and a nation unto Himself.
This school of thought is buttressed with what the scriptures say about
us when we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, and his substitutionary work,
and become part of the body of Christ.
He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into
the kingdom of the Son of His love,
- Colossians 1:13

Elijah’s experience
Elijah after the conquest on mount Carmel was running away from
Jezebel. The bible says, he arrived at Beersheba and left his servant there.
He proceeded further, and then later was served communion by the angel of
the Lord.
And when he saw that, he arose and ran for his life, and went to
Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. But he
himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness and came and sat
down under a broom tree. And he prayed that he might die, and said,
“It is enough! Now, LORD, take my life, for I am no better than my
fathers!” Then as he lay and slept under a broom tree, suddenly an
angel touched him, and said to him, “Arise and eat.” Then he looked,
and there by his head was a cake baked on coals, and a jar of water.
So he ate and drank, and lay down again. And the angel of the LORD
came back the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise and eat,
because the journey is too great for you.” So he arose, and ate and
drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty
nights as far as Horeb, the mountain of God.
- 1 Kings 19:3-8

In the introduction, I made mention of elements we could use when

serving communion, and in this case, we see the angel of the Lord present
Elijah with baked cake and water, twice.
Elijah had not finished his assignment but was discouraged and was
ready to die. He had no strength in him. The visitation and subsequent
serving of the communion gave him the strength, energy, and power to
move on for forty days and forty nights. What kind of food can take a man
this far, if not from God?
Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat
the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in
you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I
will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My
blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood
abides in Me, and I in him.
- John 6:53-56

Communion, when taken on purpose, yields tremendous results. On

several occasions, as I embarked on a long fast, taking communion gave me
much strength to the degree, eating was not a desire.
Elijah’s experience was an example of the spiritual energy we receive
when we take communion.

Israel’s experience
The first enactment of the benefit of the Lamb slain before the
foundation of the world was what the people of Israel (the Hebrews) in
Egypt experienced as the Passover—their deliverance from Egypt, and a
memorial of what the Father had done for us through Jesus Christ.
God gave Moses seven feasts[6] (festivals – holy convocation), to reveal
the Messiah, His sacrifice, and life after.
The first was the Passover, which symbolized the sacrifice (the shedding
of His blood) for us—our redemption and deliverance, which took place at
Calvary.
The second is the Unleavened bread, which has to do with His burial;
the third, the Firstfruits, which has to do with His resurrection—all of these
(death, burial, and resurrection), are in the taking of the communion.

Their night of deliverance.

When God would break the backbone of Egypt and Pharaoh, for him to
let His people go, God had to judge and kill all their first-born, including
man and beast.

And the LORD said to Moses, "I will bring yet one more plague on
Pharaoh and on Egypt. Afterward, he will let you go from here. When
he lets you go, he will surely drive you out of here altogether…..Then
Moses said, "Thus says the LORD: 'About midnight I will go out into
the midst of Egypt; and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die,
from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the
firstborn of the female servant who is behind the handmill, and all the
firstborn of the animals. Then there shall be a great cry throughout all
the land of Egypt, such as was not like it before, nor shall be like it
again.
- Exodus 11:1, 4 - 6

Moses instructed his people, according to the commandment of the

Lord, from the picking of the lamb or goat to the time of its sacrifice. For
in-depth knowledge and understanding of the feasts and its messages, I will
refer you again to Dr. Richard Booker’s book[7].

This was the order:

1. Every man was to select for his household a lamb without

spot or blemish. Abraham said to Isaac, “the Lord will
provide Himself a Lamb”; Jesus was spotless, the just for the
unjust.
2. They were to observe the lamb for five days to see if it had
any blemish. Jesus fulfilled this when the religious rulers
questioned him after driving the money-changer, and animals
from the temple. No one could lay a charge against Him
because He was right.

3. They were to present the lamb at their doorstep and to

slaughter. Jesus was taken outside the city and crucified.

4. The blood of the lamb was to be collected in a basin and

sprinkled on both sides of the doorpost and above the
doorpost. That was the sign of the cross, and the blood of
Jesus dripped from His body and to the sides of the cross[8].

5. They were to roast the lamb on a cross-shaped like stick. That

was the cross Jesus hanged on.

All of these were given to Moses by the Lord, and I believe the same
was the process and procedure that the Father used when sacrificing Jesus
as the Lamb. Whatever God made Moses do, was according to the pattern
in heaven.
And see to it that you make them according to the pattern which was
shown you on the mountain.
- Exodus 25:40

I am convinced about this because the Lord revealed to David the

crucifixion (as in Psalm 22) and His ascension (in Psalm 24:7 -10).
When Jesus appealed to the Father to let the cup pass Him by in the
garden of Gethsemane, it was because He was about to experience death the
second[9] time. The process and procedure were known to Him, having gone
through before the foundation of the world. His appeal was not accepted
because even though He had “died” earlier, it was not known to man, and as
a witness to us—for our salvation and judgment, He had to sacrifice His life
for us to see the price that He paid for our salvation.
When Elisha asked Elijah for the double portion of his anointing, Elijah
told him, “if you see me go.” We saw the price Jesus paid for us, and that
gives us the faith and hope for our salvation. We are strong in faith fighting
the devil with the blood of Jesus because we know the price Jesus paid.

When I see the blood

The sacrifice of the Passover lamb settled their freedom forever, and
this was what Jesus accomplished for us. After slaughtering the lamb, its
blood was applied on the doorposts, and they roasted the meat (the body)
and ate. This was their communion because, like Elijah, they went out of
Egypt after eating and were able to travel for days without food.
In the night, when the destroyer came around, the blood of the lamb on
their doorposts signaled to it, that “death had already taken place for those
in that house,” and so it passed over them—a recognition of the Lamb of
God’s sacrifice.
For the LORD will pass through to strike the Egyptians; and when He
sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the LORD will
pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your
houses to strike you.
- Exodus 12:23
Guess what the Lord said after that:
And you shall observe this thing as an ordinance for you and your sons
forever.
- Exodus 12:24 (Emphasis mine)

The Apostle Paul had this to say:

In the same manner, He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This
cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it,
in remembrance of Me."
- 1 Corinthians 11:25 (Emphasis mine).
The deliverance of God’s people through the sacrificing of the Passover
lamb was in accordance to what the Father had established before the
foundation of the world, and a “dress rehearsal” of what was to take place
on Calvary.
The deliverance of God’s people was total and permanent, and so is
what happens when we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Anytime we
take the communion on purpose, whatever we take the communion for, is
resolved by the body and blood of Jesus.
When fear gripped them on seeing the armies of Pharaoh approaching
them, Moses made this prophetic statement:
And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see
the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today.
For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more
forever.
- Exodus 14:13

Our deliverance is also complete, having been translated from the power
of darkness and into the kingdom of His dear Son (Colossians 1:13).
The Lord Jesus Christ made a provision for us, should in case we see
the enemy making an effort to terrorize us or afflict us in any way. He said,
“do this in remembrance of me,” meaning, anytime we encounter a
challenge, for which He died for, we must remember what He had done for
us, by taking the communion and taking authority over it.

THE FULFILMENT

II HAVE IN DIVERSE ways taught about how Jesus became the Lamb that
was slain before the foundation of the world, and how over the years, we
have benefitted from it from Adam till today.
I am, therefore, going to dedicate this chapter to reveal how Jesus
fulfilled the Passover, by His passion. The Father chose that Jesus fulfilled
it in His life on the exact dates He gave the Jews to celebrate the Passover.

1. The Passover Lamb

The Passover lamb was to be picked and examined for five days (10th to
14th of Nisan).

Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: 'On the tenth day of
this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the
house of his father, a lamb for a household. And if the household is too
small for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it
according to the number of the persons; according to each man's need,
you shall make your count for the lamb. Your lamb shall be without
blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from
the goats. Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same
month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill
it at twilight.
- Exodus 12:3-6
Jesus entered Jerusalem on the tenth day as revealed in John 12.
Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where
Lazarus was who had been dead, whom He had raised from the dead.
- John 12:1

Six days before the Passover, gives us the ninth day of Nisan. He
proceeds to go to Jerusalem to be examined the following day, the tenth,
just as the lamb or goat was taken and kept for examination, to ensure it had
no blemish.
The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they
heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches of palm trees
and went out to meet Him, and cried out: "Hosanna! 'Blessed is He
who comes in the name of the LORD!' The King of Israel!" Then Jesus,
when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written: "Fear
not, daughter of Zion; Behold, your King is coming, Sitting on a
donkey's colt." His disciples did not understand these things at first;
but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things
were written about Him and that they had done these things to Him.
- John 12:12-16 (Emphasis mine).

Zechariah prophesied the entering into Jerusalem by Jesus on a donkey.

"Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!

Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.
- Zechariah 9:9

The Pharisees sought to challenge His authority, seeing Him cleanse the
temple, driving away the money changers and those that sold doves. His
reply was:
And He said to them, "It is written, 'My house shall be called a house
of prayer,' but you have made it a 'den of thieves.' "
- Matthew 21:13

To confirm His deity and choice as the Lamb of God, Caiaphas said
this, not knowing what he was prophesying.
And one of them, Caiaphas, being high priest that year, said to them,
"You know nothing at all, nor do you consider that it is expedient for
us that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole
nation should perish." Now, this he did not say on his own authority,
but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for
the nation, and not for that nation only, but also that He would gather
together in one the children of God who were scattered abroad. Then,
from that day on, they plotted to put Him to death.

- John 11:49-53

2. The lamb must be without blemish

Jesus was the perfect Lamb of God, without blemish. There was no fault
found in Him.
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He
might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive
by the Spirit,
- 1 Peter 3:18

The Pharisees sent Jesus to Pilate to seek judgment on Him and to

crucify Him, but this was what Pilate said:
Then Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests, the rulers,
and the people, said to them, "You have brought this Man to me, as one
who misleads the people. And indeed, having examined Him in your
presence, I have found no fault in this Man concerning those things
of which you accuse Him; no, neither did Herod, for I sent you back to
him; and indeed nothing deserving of death has been done by Him.
- Luke 23:13-15 (Emphasis mine).

Pilate’s wife went to him to warn him of his dealings with Jesus in
Matthew 27:19:
While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying,
"Have nothing to do with that just Man, for I have suffered many
things today in a dream because of Him."
When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather that a
tumult was rising, he took water and washed his hands before the
multitude, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You
see to it."
- Matthew 27:24
-
The centurion who supervised the crucifixion concluded by what he saw
happen after the death of Jesus Christ that indeed He was a just Man—the
Son of God.
So when the centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus,
saw the earthquake and the things that had happened, they feared
greatly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God!"
- Matthew 27:54

3. The divine exchange

In the ordinance that Moses received and gave to the people, as
recorded in Leviticus 16, they were to have two sheep or goats for the
ceremony—one was to be the scapegoat, which would carry the sins of the
people, and released into the wilderness, and the other, to be the sacrificial
lamb or goat.
Then Aaron shall cast lots for the two goats: one lot for the LORD and
the other lot for the scapegoat. And Aaron shall bring the goat on
which the LORD'S lot fell and offer it as a sin offering. But the goat on
which the lot fell to be the scapegoat shall be presented alive before
the LORD, to make atonement upon it, and to let it go as the scapegoat
into the wilderness.
- Leviticus 16:8-10

Jesus was the sacrificial goat, and so there was the need for a scapegoat,
and God provided one for the people—Barabbas. The name Barabbas
means son of the father, and Jesus was also the Son of the Father, just as the
two goats or sheep were to be present for the ceremony, Jesus and Barabbas
were before the people, for them to make a choice, as to who becomes the
scapegoat, and who becomes the sacrificial lamb. Jesus was God’s choice to
die as the sacrificial Lamb.
And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved
Son, in whom I am well pleased."
- Matthew 3:17

When Pilate realized he could not convince them to set Jesus free, and
that they were shouting “crucify Him,” he released Jesus to them to be
crucified.
Then he released Barabbas to them; and when he had scourged Jesus,
he delivered Him to be crucified.
- Matthew 27:26

The above scripture reveals how Isaiah 53:5 was also fulfilled in His
passion. He was scourged. Whenever you take the communion, you must
know it has the complete remedy for whatever you could face or experience
in this life.

4. The divine timing

The lamb set for the sacrifice as the Passover lamb was to be presented
for the sacrifice at the third hour (9 am) and sacrificed at the ninth hour (3
pm). These also were Jesus in His crucifixion.

And they brought Him to the place Golgotha, which is translated,

Place of a Skull. Then they gave Him wine mingled with myrrh to
drink, but He did not take it. And when they crucified Him, they
divided His garments, casting lots for them to determine what every
man should take. Now it was the third hour, and they crucified Him.
- Mark 15:22-25

Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour, there was darkness over
all the land. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud
voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is, "My God, My God,
why have You forsaken Me?" Some of those who stood there, when they
heard that, said, "This Man is calling for Elijah!" Immediately one of
them ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine and put it on a
reed, and offered it to Him to drink. The rest said, "Let Him alone; let
us see if Elijah will come to save Him." And Jesus cried out again with
a loud voice and yielded up His spirit.

- Matthew 27:45-50

Glory to God, my Savior, fulfilled everything the Father demanded from

Him, that I might be delivered, saved and freed from guilt and shame, and
be made righteous in Him. Thank You, Jesus, for your body and your blood
—the holy communion.
8

THE APPLICATION

THE HOLY COMMUNION is an ordinance given to us by our Lord Jesus

Christ (His body and blood), for the deliverance, salvation, healing, and
blessing of His Church—the body of Christ.
He preached about it in John 6, but neither the people nor His disciples
understood Him. The people were so offended to the extent they abandoned
Him. He had fed five thousand men, not counting the women and children;
could the number, therefore, be anything near twenty thousand? He was left
with the twelve only.

From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him
no more. Then Jesus said to the twelve, "Do you also want to go
away?" But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go?
You have the words of eternal life.
- John 6:66-68

The Bible records that on the eve of His betrayal and arrest, He had His
last supper with His disciples and served them bread and wine—
communion:
And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and
gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is My body." Then He
took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from
it, all of you. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed
for many for the remission of sins.
- Matthew 26:26-28

The disciples were the first to have this ordinance served them by Jesus
Himself, but they did not fully understand what it was. It was the Apostle
Paul, who had a revelation about it and taught the church.

The Apostle went further to teach why and how it was to be observed.
He also did not mince words, warning against its misuse; something the
disciples never taught.

For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the
Lord's death till He comes. Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks
this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body
and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him
eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an
unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning
the Lord's body. For this reason, many are weak and sick among you,
and many sleep.
- 1 Corinthians 11:26-30

I have witnessed people refuse to be part of communion services, and

when I approached them, some said they were not ready, while others said,
they were not that much righteous to take the communion. Though they
may be right to an extent, considering the Apostle Paul’s warning in 1
Corinthians 11:29 – 20, “For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy
manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
For this reason, many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep,” I
believe no one is perfect, and that when it comes to examining ourselves,
we judge our motives and ask for forgiveness and take the communion, to
pray for deliverance, strength, and healing.
Jesus did not come for the righteous, but for those who needed help.
The Bible tells it all in Romans 5:8.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were
still sinners, Christ died for us.
- Romans 5:8

The above scripture should be an encouragement for us to run to Him

and not from Him. If you must be part of a communion service and realize
you have not been faithful, and need to repent of your sins, you could do
that from a sincere heart, and trust His word, that “and him that comes to
me I will in no wise cast out,” (John 6:37). John the beloved also had this to
say:

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and
to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
- 1 John 1:9

From the above, we conclude that one must be prepared mentally and
spiritually, before taking the communion. Does that mean an unbeliever in a
communion service could not eat it? The question, is debatable; but from
what we learn from the scriptures, I do not think it would be an error if the
person takes it in reverence; depending on how the minister, administers it
and what he/she says before serving. Here are my reasons:

1. In John 9, Jesus healed a blind man who did not know Him or
have an idea about who the Son of God is. He was not preached to,
be received healing. When Jesus met him later, this was what
transpired between them:
Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when He had found him,
He said to him, "Do you believe in the Son of God?" He answered and
said, "Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?" And Jesus said to
him, "You have both seen Him, and it is He who is talking with you."
Then he said, "Lord, I believe!" And he worshiped Him.
- John 9:35-38

It is written in Romans 2:4, that the “goodness of God leads to

repentance,” so God could minister to that unbeliever through the
communion and save that soul.
I have seen people, who had not accepted Jesus as their Lord and
Savior, healed at crusades, before confessing Him as their Lord. I
believe it all depends upon how the minister presents the communion
to the people.

2. In Acts 10, we read about Cornelius, a Gentile, who had not

received the gospel, but because of his deeds, God sent an angel to
him, who instructed him to call Peter to come to his house. Jesus
before His departure warned the disciples not to go to the Gentiles
(Matthew 10:5), but the grace of God found Cornelius, and the
chief Apostle, was sent to his house.
The most astonishing thing that took place there was the Holy Ghost
baptism they received, even before water baptism.
While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon
all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who
believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift
of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they
heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter
answered, "Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized
who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?" And he
commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they
asked him to stay a few days.
- Acts 10:44-48
Though we need to minister to the saved, we cannot also exclude
anyone who desires to be a partaker of the ordinance; it all comes to
how we present the body and the blood.

MINISTERING THE HOLY COMMUNION

The church setting

Most churches serve communion monthly, while some serve weekly.
Some also serve any day at any time they feel led or inspired by the Holy
Spirit. There is no fast rule to this. The Lord said we should take it as often
as we can, and that is up to either the denomination or the minister.
As I have said earlier, the presentation matters, and so it must be the
minister’s duty to prepare as led by the Holy Spirit, to teach the people as to
why the communion is observed that day, or to what purpose they could
take the communion that moment.
However, one cannot take it if he or she does not have faith in the
substitutionary work of Christ; that could be equivalent to ‘taking it
unworthily,’ for which one could be guilty of it, leading to death, in some
cases.

For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks
judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this reason,
many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.
- 1 Corinthians 11:29-30

Communion services mean so much to me because the Holy Spirit has

ministered to me about the blood of Jesus Christ on numerous occasions. I
have also personally seen great benefits come to me by taking it, some I
will share in the next chapter. I have seen people delivered, after receiving
the communion. Ministers, therefore, need to spend some time in prayer,
seek a word from the Lord before ministering this ordinance.
A word of encouragement, referring to what Jesus has done for us, and
the benefit of the communion, could be enough for a ministry that regularly
serves communion, either on a weekly or monthly basis. But, when led by
the Holy Spirit, services dedicated to that effect, would be great, seeing it
would be the focus.

Ministering to self
This is to me, the most practical way to experience the power and
benefits of the communion. When an individual decides to take the
communion, he or she does so on a basis, either by need, inspiration, or
revelation.
I believe when our Lord Jesus Christ spoke of “eating” His body and
“drinking” His blood, He was not talking about the group (church setting)
only, but also on an individual basis.
The taking of communion on an individual basis is slightly different
from the church setting. Unlike the church setting whereby the minister
may preach, teach or exhort the people before ministering the communion,
the individual here, decided on his/her own accord, to take the communion.
Secondly, an unbeliever, cannot on his own accord, take the communion. It
will either not work or may face the consequences for that action.
It is therefore imperative, that before an individual takes the
communion, he or she must observe these:

1. The person must have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior.

2. The person must believe in the bread (or wafer) and wine, as the
body and blood of Jesus.

3. The person must believe in the transforming power of the

communion and be hopeful for the results.

4. The person must be right with God, examining himself/herself,

before proceeding as in 1 Corinthians 11:28, 31.
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and
drink of the cup…For if we would judge ourselves, we would not
be judged.

5. The person must have a course for taking it.

These are some of the most important factors to consider before an

individual decides to take the communion.
For those who may require some assistance in taking the communion, I
recommend this format for you.

Proceeding with the ordinance

a) Get your communion elements ready, either on a plate or a piece of
clean cloth (don’t be too spiritual about this);
b) Make sure you have listed the need or purpose for which you are
taking the communion on a piece of paper, to guide you in praying
prophetically with the elements.
c) Begin with a hymn or a song of worship, and as led, read a few
scriptures that relate with your need or purpose.
d) Thank the Father for the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, and the
privilege to have the blood of Jesus speaking on your behalf before His
throne (Hebrews 12:24).
e) You may at this point refer God to His word, and what Jesus had done
through His death for you, as in Isaiah 53:4 – 6, and then present your
petition to the Father, laying claim by the ordinance (Luke 22:19 -20; 1
Corinthians 11:24 – 26).
f) You may then proceed with thanks and take the communion.

There is so much life in the communion if taken in faith and believing

God for a manifestation.
I pray you to encounter God through this simple ordinance given to us
by the Lord. Remember on the cross Jesus said, “It is finished.” There is
nothing more we can add to this, but to have faith in what we take as His
real body and blood.
Ministering to family/friends
We could also, serve our family members and friends, should the need
be. If a father or a mother, feel insecure in their home, or if the family is
facing either a spiritual attack or a situation that needs divine intervention,
they could after praying, as led by the Holy Spirit, serve themselves
communion.
In this case, I recommend that the protocol used for an individual before
serving himself/herself as stated above be observed.

Ministering by prophetic direction

In 2016, I was led by the Lord, to bless communion elements for my
congregants, and to be used when needed. This was in November after the
Holy Spirit had engaged me is a discussion about the blood of Jesus Christ,
while at a program in New York.
People brought whatever they could afford as their communion
elements, and I prayed prophetically over them and asked them to serve
themselves any day, any time the need arose. I will share some of the
testimonies in the next chapter.

THE BENEFITS AND TESTIMONIES

WE DO NOT HAVE to go too far to search for answers to these, for they
are revealed in the scriptures.

BENEFITS OF COMMUNION
Below are but some of the benefits we receive when we take the holy
communion. These are:

1. Redemption: The meaning of redemption, is to purchase back; to

ransom; to liberate or rescue from captivity or bondage, or any
obligation or liability to suffer or to be forfeited, by paying an
equivalent; meaning we were lost or became the property of
another, liable to slavery, and we were “bought” back. The
medium of exchange was the blood of Jesus.

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a
curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a
tree"),
- Galatians 3:13

Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like
silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from
your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb
without blemish and without spot.
- 1 Peter 1:18-19

And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll,
And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to
God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and
nation,

- Revelation 5:9

2. Forgiveness: Before the coming of Christ, sins were taken care of

(by covering) by the atonement, the sacrifice of the blood of sheep
and goats (Leviticus 4), but when Christ came to die, it was no
more by the blood of animals, but by His own blood.

To open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light,

and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive
forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are
sanctified by faith in Me.'
- Acts 26:18

In Him, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of

sins, according to the riches of His grace
- Ephesians 1:7

And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of

your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven
you all trespasses,
- Colossians 2:13

3. Cleansing: Our cleansing from sin, iniquities, and transgressions,

come by the blood of Jesus as in Ephesians 5:26.
That He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water
by the word,

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship

with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses
us from all sin.
- 1 John 1:7

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for

our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes, we are healed.

- Isaiah 53:5

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins

and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
- 1 John 1:9

How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the
eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your
conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

- Hebrews 9:14

4. Deliverance/Overcoming: Our deliverance is obtained by the

purchasing power of the blood, which gives us the victory (to
overcome) the devil, and sin.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word
of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

- Revelation 12:11

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them because
He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
- 1 John 4:4

These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome
them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who
are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful."
- Revelation 17:14
-
And to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the
dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.

- 1 Thessalonians 1:10

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us

into the kingdom of the Son of His love,
- Colossians 1:13

5. Healing: When Jesus received the thirty-nine stripes, He paid for

all manner of sicknesses and diseases.

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for

our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes, we are healed.

- Isaiah 53:5

Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we,
having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes
you were healed.
- 1 Peter 2:24

6. Protection: This was evident when the Israelites applied it on

their doorposts as in Exodus 12:13.
Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you
are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the
plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of
Egypt.

Anytime we take the communion or apply it to our lives we

receive divine immunity.

7. Blessings: Anytime we take in the bread and the wine, we

introduce the body and the blood of Jesus into our bodies. You
can, therefore, imagine, what happens to us, by that action. I will
discuss more of this under testimonies.

TESTIMONIES:
I will do well to limit the testimonies to a few since the subject is about
the body and the blood, and not people. The testimonies are to bolster the
claims and not the actual message.

1. Delivered from a strange attack.

In 2007, one of my congregants called me to inform me she was under a
strange attack, and she felt someone was sucking her life out of her body.
She had then called 911, and the paramedics were on their way to her
apartment. Immediately, I heard the Holy Spirit tell me to ask her to warm a
glass of water and drink. I asked the Lord what that meant, and the answer I
received was that the blood of man is warm, so I must pray over the water
to become the blood of Jesus. I asked her to do just that, and she was
healed.
When the paramedic arrived, she was free.

2. A child delivered from an asthmatic attack

This happened as above. A young mother called me one frigid, freezing
February night, in the middle of a snowstorm, in New York. Her daughter
had an asthmatic attack and had called 911. When the paramedic arrived, I
was on the phone with the mother, giving her directives as to what to do by
serving her communion.
The paramedics were initially impatient with her, but she insisted she
needed to finish what her pastor was instructing her to do. By the next
minute, the child was free. They checked her and found her fine and left.
Please, if you do not have that faith and someone being led by the Holy
Spirit during an issue, to guide you and to help you through, please seek
medical attention, and do not use this testimony as a substitute.

3. Delivered from a severe headache

When I prayed prophetically over the communion elements for my
congregants in 2016, one of the members testified of how one morning
he woke up with a very severe headache. He was late for work and
could not find any painkiller in his house. He then remembered his
communion elements in the fridge.
He went ahead and served himself communion and left the house.
He left with the pain, and later realized he was pain-free. He could not
tell when the pain disappeared.

4. Delievered from an accident.

I woke up one morning getting ready to leave the house. I realized
I was running late, and as I was about to get into my car, an urge to go
back and take communion, came over me. I obeyed. I instantly felt
some calmness come over me and that changed my way of driving that
day. An hour later, a pickup truck lost control and was heading towards
me for headlong collision. I quickly stopped, and it swerved away
from me, seconds from a could have been a terrible accident. The Lord
saved me from death.
The question was, “why did the Holy Spirit ask me to take
communion at 5:30 am?” The scripture that comes to me is, Exodus
12:13:

“Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you
are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the
plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of
Egypt.”
5. Fibroid dissolved after communion service
I have experienced two significant healings and deliverances
received by two ladies after a communion service. Both reported of
fibroids coming out of their bodies after the service. One was
scheduled for surgery a few days before the experience.

I wished I could continue and give you more testimonies, but I

want the teaching to speak for itself. I also want you to believe what
the word of God in the scriptures reveal to us about the Lord Jesus
Christ and His substitutionary work for us. Exercise your faith, do
what the word of God says and see the salvation of the Lord.
EPILOGUE

IN ORDER THAT WE benefit fully from this ordinance, I want to revisit

what I briefly mentioned in Chapter 8, about the warning the Apostle Paul
gave us in 1 Corinthians 11:

Therefore, whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an
unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But
let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of
the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and
drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this
reason, many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. For if we
would judge ourselves, we would not be judged.
- 1 Corinthians 11:27-31

In the above scripture, Paul reveals why many people fall sick and die
even though they take the communion. In a nutshell, what is supposed to be
a blessing, could become a curse if not done right.
He then revealed the way we should prepare ourselves before taking the
communion.

1. We must examine ourselves.

Self-examination is very crucial to the taking of the communion,
because of the value of the sacrifice Jesus made. He did not only pay for
our sins, but He also redeemed us (purchased us with His own blood – Acts
20:28).
Not having a definite purpose for taking the communion could be
classified as eating and drinking in an unworthy manner; and that means
taking the communion without regard to the person of the Lord Jesus
Christ, not reverencing Him and making a mockery of the ordinance.

Examining one’s self accords the partaker the opportunity to be able to

know what to stand on and to petition Heaven for redress on whatever
issues facing the individual, as well as provide the scriptural basis and the
faith in approaching God.

This is of great significance because words matter when it comes to

spiritual things. In the scriptures we see the Lord Jesus Christ approached
by people with disabilities that needed help, but He always asked them what
they needed from Him first. Below are a few examples:

And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus. So Jesus
answered and said to him, "What do you want Me to do for you?" The
blind man said to Him, "Rabboni, that I may receive my sight." Then
Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your faith has made you well." And
immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.
- Mark 10:50-52

And behold, two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that
Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, "Have mercy on us, O Lord,
Son of David!" Then the multitude warned them that they should be
quiet; but they cried out all the more, saying, "Have mercy on us, O
Lord, Son of David!" So Jesus stood still and called them, and said,
"What do you want Me to do for you?" They said to Him, "Lord that
our eyes may be opened." So Jesus had compassion and touched their
eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed
Him.
- Matthew 20:30-34
Jesus when teaching His disciples also said these:

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it
will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who
seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
- Matthew 7:7-8

And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you,
whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now
you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that
your joy may be full.
- John 16:23-24

When we come to the Lord’s table, we need to have an agenda and a

purpose for the taking of the communion, even if it’s a regular exercise. We
need to have something to say at that moment. That means we should
always be ready with a petition to the Father before taking the communion.
What we say, justifies the reason and purpose for the communion.
Our foundation for the above is as in Isaiah 53:

Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we
esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was
wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes, we
are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned,
everyone, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity
of us all.
- Isaiah 53:4-6

Examining ourselves does not only give us the purpose for taking the
communion, but it also allows us to review our relationship with the Lord.
When we are truthful to ourselves, we can seek reconciliation with Him, in
areas we have betrayed Him, and ask for forgiveness and restoration.
We cannot betray Jesus and expect Him to be there for us. The writer of
Hebrews classified this as crucifying the Lord Jesus Christ again.

If they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify
again for themselves the Son of God and put Him to an open shame.
- Hebrews 6:6

In examining ourselves, we come to realize how privileged we are,

having received of His love and sacrifice. This love was the source of His
motivation for Him to die for us. This helps us to reverence Him the more.

By this, we know love because He laid down His life for us. And we
also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
- 1 John 3:16

In summary, examining ourselves before taking the communion helps

us to appreciate His love for us, and it enables us to submit to His holiness.
On the contrary, when we take the communion as a ritual, as many do
because it’s always part of the church service, it becomes “common,” and
we lose the spirituality that goes with it, and it then becomes a curse unto
us.

2. Judgement by the ordinance

Anytime we take the communion as a ceremonial act, being part of the
service, we bring condemnation to ourselves. Instead of it being a time of
soul searching and appreciating His sacrifice, it becomes a common act for
us, which becomes a mockery before the Lord.
In Leviticus 10, the sons of Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, offered a profane
fire as an offering before the Lord, and the Lord consumed them, with fire
from His presence, and they died.
These young men became familiar to offering fire sacrifices daily before
the Lord as sons of the High Priest, and having done that for a while, lost
the fear of the Lord that went with the sacrifice, and it became common
with them, and God did not take it lightly.
Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and
put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the
LORD, which He had not commanded them. So fire went out from the
LORD and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. And Moses
said to Aaron, "This is what the LORD spoke, saying: 'By those who
come near Me I must be regarded as holy; And before all the people I
must be glorified.' " So Aaron held his peace.
- Leviticus 10:1-3

We see this act of mockery repeated by Ananias and Saphira when they
determined to lie to the Holy Spirit concerning their promise of selling their
land and giving the money for the work of God.

But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a
possession. And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being
aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles' feet.
But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the
Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?
While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it
not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your
heart? You have not lied to men but to God." Then Ananias, hearing
these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon
all those who heard these things. And the young men arose and
wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him. Now it was about
three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had
happened. And Peter answered her, "Tell me whether you sold the land
for so much?" She said, "Yes, for so much." Then Peter said to her,
"How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord?
Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door,
and they will carry you out." Then immediately she fell down at his feet
and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead,
and carrying her out, buried her by her husband. So great fear came
upon all the church and upon all who heard these things.
- Acts 5:1-11
This is what the Apostle Paul admonished us to avoid, by examining
ourselves and doing the right thing.
He revealed why many believers fall sick and die even though they
partake of the communion. This is a clear indication that the bread and the
wine, when taken appropriately could bring healing, deliverance, and
blessings to the individual.
I have countless number of testimonies to that effect, but as I said
earlier, I want my readers to have faith in what the word of God reveals
more than the testimonies, but I will share these two to buttress this point.

Case # 1
In 2007, a lady was brought to me by her cousin who was diagnosed
with a severe lung infection. The doctors had declared her case a terminal
one since no medication could help her. As at the time we met, she had only
twenty percent of her lungs functioning. She could not climb stairs with
ease. Occasionally she had to use an oxygen tank, and it was a problem. She
had a few months to live.
While I was praying for her, the Holy Spirit impressed upon me to bless
communion elements for her to be taking daily. I, therefore, made her buy a
box of the pre-filled communion set and blessed it for her and instructed her
as to how to serve herself daily.
She did as I instructed her, and she lived for three more years before she
died. I believe if she had continued with the instructions, she would have
not only lived but totally healed.

Case #2
In 2008, I was serving communion when a couple in the church entered.
They arrived late for the service because the man, who had had a stroke
earlier and was recovering, nearing died the night before. Knowing that day
was a communion service, she determined that at all cost she would bring
him to church.
When they were entering, I saw in the spirit the woman was wearing a
black dress, but it was a yellow and blue dress instead. I, therefore,
understood the message the Lord was giving me.
When it came to the time of serving the communion, I called them to
the front and told her what I saw, that was when she made known to me the
strange attacks the man went through in the night. As usual, I ministered the
communion to him as led by the Lord, and his condition improved until he
traveled to Africa and could not make it back again and he died. That was
two years after ministering to him.
I believe in the two cases I have shared with you, if the individuals had
maintained contact with me, they would have lived more than the two and
three years they lived before they died.

The role of the Holy Spirit

Jesus did not shed His blood alone; the Holy Spirit was with Him. The
scriptures below reveal the connection Jesus had with the Holy Spirit, and
the Holy Spirit’s eventually working together with Jesus

When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the

water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the
Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And
suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved Son,
in whom I am well pleased."
- Matthew 3:16-17

This act of the Holy Spirit was confirmed in His work by the Apostle
Peter in Acts 10:

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with
power, who went about doing good and healing all who were
oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
- Acts 10:38

This tells us the Holy Spirit never left Him and see the role He played
during the passion of Christ.
For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling
the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more
shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered
Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead
works to serve the living God?
- Hebrews 9:13-14 (Emphasis mine).

The Holy Spirit is the eternal Spirit, and if He was with Jesus from the
beginning, and worked with Him and helped Him in His death, it means
anytime we eat His flesh and drink His blood, the Holy Spirit, who now
lives and works in us, validates us and confirms what Jesus had done for us.
Secondly, Jesus is eternal just as the Holy Spirit is also eternal.
Therefore, it means the body that we eat, and the blood that we drink, with
the Holy Spirit, could assist us live a very long and healthy life, seeing we
take into us physically eternal elements.

Jesus said to the people in John 8

I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness and
are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one
may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread which came down from
heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread
that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the
world."
- John 6:48-51

Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will
raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood
is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in
Me, and I in him. As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of
the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. This is the
bread which came down from heaven--not as your fathers ate the
manna and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever."
- John 6:54-58
The above scriptures are my basis for believing if we take the
communion worthily as recommended by the Apostle, we could live to a
very old age, seeing we have the eternal elements in us physically. If one
taking the communion unworthily will be sick and die, then the opposite
must also be true.
My hope and pray are that you the reader and I will learn to take the
communion worthily and experience the power of the eternal Spirit at work
in us, transforming our physical bodies even while on earth so that many
through our experience, will come to know the Lord.
The Apostle Paul at the peak of his ministry had this to say:

That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the
fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.
- Philippians 3:10

The Apostle Paul realized the role the Holy Spirit played in the ministry
of Jesus and desired to have that experience too.

The Holy Spirit was so evident in Christ, even to His death and
resurrection; and if the same Holy Spirit is in us, then, together with the
“eternal elements,” we can be assured that He will raise us even if we die,
and while living, we will be strengthened and made whole by the same
Spirit.

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you,
He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal
bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
- Romans 8:11

MY FINAL WORD
Our Lord Jesus Christ, who became the Lamb of God, slain before the
foundation of the world, was sacrificed as the Lamb of God, on the cross at
Calvary.
One thing no mortal would understand, until eternity, would be the
reason and purpose for God going that route. The Father could have done
anything to get what He deemed fit, but why that route? This leaves us with
the thought David expressed in Psalm 8:

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and
the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful
of him, And the son of man that You visit him?
- Psalm 8:3-4

The substitutionary work of Christ, which we preach as His

sacrifice on the cross, should be our central preaching to save the
world. Should we fail, or substitute that with any “gospel,” we do
significant damage and disservice to the kingdom of God, and the
Godhead.
Jesus came to save us, not to make us feel right. He shed His blood
to overcome sin, death and the devil, and it is our responsibility to take
it from there and enforce the victory of the cross.

The summary of it all is in 1 Corinthians 15:54-57

So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has
put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is
written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." "O Death, where is your
sting? O Hades, where is your victory?" The sting of death is sin, and
the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the
victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

I have heard some servants of God say, they were privileged to see angel war with demons,

can we conclude spirits have spiritual blood?

This is why when we give our lives to Christ, and confess Him as our Lord and Savior, we do
not die twice, because He died a second death for us.
