RUNNING OUT OF TIME…

Global warming is having a serious impact on the planet, from melting polar ice to raging forest
fires. It refers to the gradual rise in Earth’s temperature caused by increasing amounts of carbon dioxide
Trang 2 | Mã đề 002
and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Over the past century, global warming has worsened
because people are using more electricity, driving more vehicles, and cutting down large numbers of
trees that help clean the air.

For many years, scientists have researched how global warming affects ecosystems, and their
discoveries are alarming. As temperatures rise, the Arctic ice is melting, which leads to higher sea levels
and flooding in coastal regions. This endangers the habitats of many plants and animals. Warmer
oceans and rivers also change water conditions, making it difficult for marine life to survive. Since the
1970s, the number of freshwater fish has dropped by 76 percent.

Extreme weather events are another effect of global warming. Deserts and grasslands are
suffering from severe droughts, threatening the survival of plants and animals that rely on water.
Meanwhile, forests are being destroyed by more frequent and intense wildfires. These environmental
changes have caused an increase in the number of endangered species, and many could soon disappear
forever. The loss of biodiversity disrupts entire ecosystems. Urgent action is needed to slow down
global warming and protect our planet's future.
