The Cursed Tree: A Tale of Friendship and Greed
In a tranquil town nestled between hills and
dense forests, Mohan and Rohan grew up
inseparable, playing, laughing, and sharing
dreams. Their hearts contrasted like day and
night: Mohan was kind, selfless, and ready to
help, whereas Rohan, from a wealthy merchant
family, was arrogant and looked down on the
less fortunate.
One evening, Rohan's father invited him to his
grand study, where gold coins shone in
candlelight. 'Why waste time on poor Mohan?’
his father scoffed. 'He offers nothing. Befriend
those who bring wealth and status.’
Blinded by his father's words, Rohan distanced
himself from Mohan. He mocked him in public,
ignored him on streets, and their friendship bond
shattered. Heartbroken and betrayed, Mohan
couldn't bear staying in town. With a heavy heart,he packed his few belongings and ventured into
the unknown, seeking solace elsewhere.
A Journey of Kindness
During his journey, Mohan encountered
numerous strangers in need. He assisted an old
man crossing a rickety bridge, swept the dusty
porch of a frail woman, and aided weary farmers
in sowing crops. Though tired, he found joy in
helping. As night descended, he found shelter
under a giant, ancient tree in the forest.
As he leaned against the sturdy trunk, the
ground trembled. Before he could react, the
earth swallowed him. Mohan tumbled into
darkness, landing softly on a golden floor. To his
amazement, he was in a mystical chamber filled
with untold riches: glittering jewels, silk
garments, exquisite timepieces, and shining
coins. A voice echoed in the chamber."Those with pure hearts shall find fortune in
kindness."
Humbled, Mohan took only what he needed: a
handful of gold coins and a simple, elegant
watch. With gratitude, he climbed back through
the tree's hollow and returned to the town.
Greed Leads to Ruin
When Rohan learned about Mohan's discovery,
jealousy surged. He rushed to Mohan's home,
demanding the tree's location. ‘Think, Rohan;
Mohan warned, ‘it's more than treasure; it
rewards the good-hearted and punishes greed.’
Rohan dismissed Mohan's warning with a laugh.
That night, he ventured into the forest, his heart
pounding with excitement. Under the tree, he
eagerly sat, hoping the ground would unveil
riches. It did, but not as he had envisioned. The moment he landed, he saw not a golden
chamber but a dark abyss filled with horrors.
Snakes slithered, fangs dripping venom.
Shadows whispered curses in an eerie tongue.
The air was thick with decay, and glowing red
eyes surrounded him. Then, a chilling voice
spoke.
"Those who enter with greed shall meet their
doom."
Before Rohan could scream, creatures lunged,
tearing him apart mercilessly. His cries echoed
in the hollow tree, but no one heard—only bats,
centuries-old, feasting on his remains, staining
the walls with his blood forever.
The Tree of Fate
Years passed, but Mohan never forgot the tree.He visited it often, taking only what he needed,
always respecting its power. Despite treasure,
one thing stayed unchanged-—the bloodstains
marking where his friend died.
Even now, the tree stands tall at the forest's core,
its branches brimming with mystery. Bats
persist, and whispers suggest that at night, if
you listen intently, you might catch Rohan's final
screams carried by the wind.
Thus, the legend endures—the tale of two
friends, one led by kindness, the other by greed,
and the had had judged them both.
