-: INTRODUCTION :-
Field Visit is an integral part of botany. We gain alot of knowledge throught our theory courses so its
equally important to learn something practically as well. Field Visits and excursion makes it easier for the
students to connect with the environment more effectively. The environment i.e our surrounding where
we all interact, the plants in their natural habitat is one of the most interesting thing that we can study.
Classroom study and field Visit are complementary to each other. Neither of the one can be ignored. So
keeping this in my the botany department of SFS College, Nagpur conducted a field Visit in the premises
of SFS college, Nagpur given as per the syllabus by the rtmnu. SFS college in itself is an excellent location
for the study of botanical plants as there are variety of plants and trees planted in the premises of our
college. Also studying plants in their natural habitat enhances our knowledge that we learn from
classroom discussions as well as laboratory experiments.
-: ACKNOWLEDGMENT:-

-: VISIT :-
The botanical field Visit in the premises of SFS College, Nagpur was conducted on 31st March at 1:45 pm.
All the students on the notice gathered in front the botany lab. There were around 20 to 30 students
present for the excursion. The teachers instructed all of us to keep a book and pen with us to note down
important points or any special feature about the plant. Then we moved on for the visit with the
teachers. The first place which was seen was the garden area in front office where numerous plant are
cultivated. There are flower plants mostly present in this region for the beautification of the office area.
Various plants such as vinca, and any flowering plants were seen. Moving further there were
many tridax species seen which were very tuny yellow and white coloured flowers. Then on the way to
the main gate there were plants observed of the lamiaceae family. In the passage towards the gate there
were many medicinal plants were also present which our teachers gave us information about. There
were trees with a QR code scanner on each of them. After scanning it we got a lot of general information
about that particular tree. About its characters, habitat, it’s classification as well.
A special type of aerial modification of stem was seen known as phyllode. It is the characteristic of
xerophytes such as opuntia. It was observed by all of us very well and we understood clearly about its
morphology and other points
The next location was the polyhouse of our college which was visited. Polyhouse is a area specialized for
growing different unique type of plants which need excess care and protection. In the polyhouse there
were many plants such as gymnosperms. Eg: cycas was seen. Various other medicinal plants. Species of
grass were seen etc.
