NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME


FOR THE CIRCULATION TO NSS DISTRICT CO-ORDINASTORS
SELECTION PROCEDURE OF PRE RD CAMP-2025-26.

NSS Republic Day Parade Camp is a prestigious national level camp. There is a very high
expectation of policy makers from the NSS volunteers in this camp. Therefore, it goes
without saying that selection for such camp has to be very serious business. To select the best
volunteer, first unit level selection has to be proper. The District Co-ordinators requested to
forward the guideline to all Colleges of respective zone/ District with selection schedule. This
guideline has to be followed strictly by all the selection committees at various levels to have
proper and fare selection.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR SELECTION AT DISTRICT LEVEL


1. One institution/college should select max- 02 (1M or 1F) volunteer only, in case
Volunteer is extra ordinary and College is having more than two units only then two
volunteers may be consider from one institution.
2. Each nominee must fulfil the following criteria: -
(i) Volunteer Should be from NSS only and must have completed one-year volunteer ship in
NSS and preferably attended one NSS special camp (volunteer should bring their NSS
volunteers work diary with them OR a certificate by the Programme Officer/Principal if
diary is not provided as a documentary proof at a time of selection round).
(ii) Should be unmarried.
(iii) Height: 155-170 cm for girls and 165-180 cm for boys.
Weight: There should be no evidence of weak constitution, bodily defects or under
weight or obese
(iv) Should be able to do the following
- Running upto 1.5 km in 10 minutes
- Should march constantly for 20 minutes
- Should give / listen command from 25 mtrs
- Should not have flat feet or knocked knee
(v) One volunteer may be given only one chance to attend Pre-RD Camp during
volunteership.
(vi) Participants should not be below the age of 18 years
(vii) Volunteer must have a good communication skill
(viii) Any extra ordinary talent of the volunteer may be consider for selection.
(ix) Volunteer must have a pleasing personality and smart appearance.
(x) Volunteer should be registered on My Bharat Portal as Youth.
(xi) Volunteer should be able to walk straight with good coordination of hand movement.
(xii) Volunteer should be good in parade & medically/ physically fit.
(xiii) Volunteers should not be related to NSS Officers / official
(xiv) He should not be current NCC Cadet
SELECTION AT UNIT / COLLEGE LEVEL

This is the first level of selection so NSS Programme Officer (PO) has to be very
careful to select the best volunteer of the unit for the University level selection. PO must
follow the guidelines strictly. Composition of the Selection Committee at college level –
Principal or his representative, One faculty member Preferably NCC in charge, person from
Military / paramedical background, NSS Programme Officer and cultural expert.

SELECTION AT DISTRICT LEVEL

If university/+2 council is having more districts under their jurisdiction there may be
the selection at district level to avoid the crowd at University. This responsibility may be
given to the NSS District Co-ordinator / one of the leading colleges of the district and
appropriate selection committee may be constituted for the fair selection of volunteers as per
the norms. The composition of selection committee at district level should be NSS District
Co-ordinator/ Area Co-ordinator/ one faculty member, preferably NCC Officer/ person from
Military background/ Police training Officials. The district Co-ordinators should confirm that
the selection committee members are not related to any of the candidate considered for
selection.
