1) Geography the study of people and places of earth.
2) Environment includes all the surroundings and conditions that affect living
things like water, land, plants, animals, and weather.
3) Hemisphere one half of earth's surface.
4) Region an area that is defined by certain features.
5) Ocean a huge body of salty water.

Ѽ people depend on their environment for food and fuel.
Ѽ people also change their environment.
Ѽ places are different because each place has different physical and human features.
ѽ physical features are things we find in nature such as mountains , hills , valleys ,
seas , rivers , lakes , oceans , weather , wind , rain ,plants , animals .
ѽ any physical feature related to land is called landforms such as mountains , hills , valleys .
Ѽ so Landforms are physical features.
Ѽ Human features describe the many people live in a place like language, food, jobs,
buildings, religion.
Ѽ The earth is shaped like a ball called a sphere.
Ѽ A globe is a model of earth. It is shaped like a ball too.
Ѽ There are 7 continents on earth. They are Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia, North
America, South America, and Antarctica.
Ѽ The united states is a country in the middle of North America (the continent)
Ѽ There are 4 ocean on earth: Atlantic, Arctic, Indian, and Pacific.
Ѽ Atlantic is the saltiest.
Ѽ Pacific is the largest.
Ѽ Geographers divide the earth into hemispheres (North hemisphere – south hemisphere)
(eastern hemisphere – western hemisphere)

Ѽ There is a fake line in the middle of earth divides the earth into northern hemisphere and
southern hemisphere. This line is called equator.
Ѽ There is another fake line divides the earth into two halves (the eastern hemisphere and
western hemisphere). This line is called prime meridian.
Ѽ Geographers draw lines parallel to the equator these lines that circle the globe are called
latitudes.
Ѽ The equator is one line of latitudes.
Ѽ Geographers draw other lines that run between north and south poles. These lines are
called meridians or longitudes.
Ѽ The prime meridian is one line of longitudes.
Ѽ Each line of longitude or latitudes has a number called degree.
Ѽ The equator and prime meridian are o° degree
Ѽ To give the exact location, find the degrees of longitudes and latitudes.
