each of the questions.
Today our knowledge of food and what it does for our bodies is far more advanced than that of the
ancient. Now we know about vitamins and how each kind of vitamin helps in the growth of a particular
part of our bodies. There are on the market all kinds of vitamin pills which one can take to make up for
one’s lack of certain important things which are needed for normal health. Of course, if we eat well and
properly, the food that we eat will take care of our bodies without these pills and so there is no need to
take any kinds of vitamin pills unless our doctor tells us that our bodies are short of something which can
be supplied by them.
Generally speaking, everything we eat does some good to our bodies, but if we eat too much of one
kind of food and pay no attention to others, we may have too much of one kind of chemical substance and
not enough of others. Then, we may be in trouble.
We are often told that we must eat some meat at each meal in order to get the necessary protein. That
is only partly true, for proteins are not found only in meat. We can also get them from some vegetables.
The best advice about what to eat is that we should eat all kinds of food but never too much of any.
1. According to the passage, we now know ____________.
A. more and more about food and health B. food and health
C. how to keep fit and stay healthy D. health is not important
2. People take certain vitamin pills when they ____________.
A. want to develop their muscle. B. find their bodies are short of something
C. want to prevent their diseases D. are strong enough to work everything
3. The writer thinks we should ____________.
A. have balanced food B. be careful in choosing food
C. eat simple food D. go on a diet
4. According to the passage, to get proteins we must eat ____________.
A. food and vitamin pills B. only fruit
C. meat and vegetables D. more vegetables
5. The main topic of the passage is ____________.
A. proteins and food B. vitamins and proteins
C. food and health D. health and vitamin pills

for each space.
Mozart, who was born on January, 27 th, 1756 in the Austrian city of Salzburg, was (1)_________
the first nor the last child prodigy, but he was certainly the greatest. He was born into a moderately
prosperous family (2)_________ his unmatched musical genius made itself known extremely early.

Part 4. Read the following passage and choose the correct headings for sections (A- F) from the list of
headings below. Write your answers in the boxes provided.(1.0 pt)
Paragraph A
As cities continue to grow, urbanization is becoming one of the most important global trends of the
21st century. While urban areas provide economic opportunities, access to better services, and improved
infrastructure, they also present significant challenges. Rapid urbanization often leads to overcrowding,
pollution, and increased pressure on resources such as water, food, and energy
Paragraph B
One of the main problems associated with rapid urbanization is the rise in inequality. As cities
grow, the gap between the rich and the poor widens, with wealthier individuals able to access better
housing, education, and healthcare. Meanwhile, poorer citizens often live in informal settlements or
slums, where access to basic services is limited. This disparity creates social tensions and undermines
social cohesion.
Paragraph C
Another significant issue is environmental degradation. As more people move to cities, the demand
for housing, transportation, and energy increases. This leads to deforestation, air and water pollution, and
the depletion of natural resources. In many cities, waste management and sewage treatment systems are
unable to keep up with the growing population, resulting in environmental health hazards.
Paragraph D
However, urbanization also offers opportunities for innovation and sustainability. Cities are hubs of
creativity and technological advancement, where new solutions to environmental and social problems can
be developed. Smart city initiatives, for example, use technology to improve urban living conditions,
from reducing traffic congestion to improving energy efficiency in buildings.
Paragraph E
In conclusion, while urbanization presents significant challenges, it also provides an opportunity to
rethink how cities can evolve in a more sustainable and equitable way. By integrating smart technologies
and adopting sustainable practices, urban centers can become models of innovation that contribute to
solving global problems.

A new way of making electricity
Ever since the 19th century, when people were developing different ways of creating electricity,
companies have looked for improved ways of producing power, using cleaner and more efficient
methods.
Now a UK company called Pavegen has been working on technology that could be widely used in the
future to produce electricity. (1)……….. The company has developed a special type of floor, made of
square tiles. Underneath each square, there’s a system that can produce a certain amount of electricity
very cheaply – from the energy created every time someone steps on it!
The creator of the floor, Laurence Kemball-Cook, came up with the idea when he was a student, and did
some work experience with an energy company. The company asked him to investigate ways of
providing street lighting in city centres, using energy from the sun to produce electricity. (2)……….. One
reason was that many city centres don’t get enough sunlight, because of all the tall buildings. Then he
thought of a better plan.
(3)……….. The right technology could be used to convert this energy into electricity – right under
people’s feet!
The design of the floor is actually extremely effective. (4)……….. And the reason is that a lot of energy
is produced simply because of the large numbers of people walking across the floor. In fact, the special
squares are already in place in several locations with high numbers of pedestrians. These include big
department stores and also an airport.
The flooring can have other uses too, such as recording how many people visit a shopping centre at
particular times. (5)……….. For example, shop owners in the centre would be interested in knowing at
which times of days they have the highest customer numbers. So the next time you visit a big shopping
centre, have a careful look at the floor that you’re walking across!
A But that isn’t the end of the story.
B This kind of information is very useful for certain people.
C Why not use the energy created by pedestrians instead?
D However, one big problem could be cost.
E And it’s actually based on a simple idea.
F This is especially true when it’s been used in very busy areas.
G But it soon became clear that this might not work.
H This new system should work even better.

The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the IT Industry
In recent years, the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed
the landscape of the Information Technology (IT) industry. As AI technologies continue to evolve, their
impact on various aspects of IT is becoming more profound. From automation to enhanced decision-
making processes, the integration of AI has brought both challenges and opportunities to the IT sector.
Artificial Intelligence, often referred to as machine intelligence, involves the development of
algorithms and models that enable machines to perform tasks that traditionally required human
intelligence. In the IT industry, AI is applied across a spectrum of functions, ranging from data analysis
and software development to cybersecurity and customer service.
One of the notable impacts of AI in IT is the automation of repetitive tasks. AI-powered systems
can efficiently handle routine operations, freeing up human resources to focus on more complex and
creative aspects of their work. This has led to increased efficiency and productivity within IT
organizations.
Furthermore, AI plays a crucial role in data analytics. The ability of AI algorithms to process vast
amounts of data and derive meaningful insights has revolutionized how IT professionals approach
decision-making. The predictive analytics capabilities of AI contribute to more informed and strategic
business decisions.
However, the integration of AI in IT also presents challenges, such as concerns about job
displacement due to automation. As machines take over routine tasks, there is a need for upskilling the
workforce to ensure they can adapt to the changing demands of the industry. Additionally, ethical
considerations regarding the use of AI and its potential biases are important aspects that IT professionals
must address.
1. AI has had a minimal impact on the IT industry.
2. Automation is one of the key impacts of AI in IT, leading to increased efficiency.
3. AI is solely applied in data analytics within the IT sector.
4. The integration of AI in IT has not raised concerns about job displacement.
5. The primary role of AI in IT is to create a more creative workforce.
