the govt. hospitals, the secretary to govt. health
and family welfare department was requested to
carryout the following.
- Take immediate action for the removal of the
biomedical waste at source
- To go for advanced alternative technology like
autoclaving for the treatment of biomedical
wastes at sources
- To incinerate the pathological waste alone
- To go in for a common treatment and disposal
facility for the biomedical wastes that must be
located away from any habitations and water
bodies.

QUALITIES OF CHN

Educational qualification:- Diploma & should be


registered with state nursing
council.
- According to new concept:
* should have passed a course
in GNM & Diploma in public
health of 9 months duration. Or
* University course in
nursing B.Sc(N)/ PCB.Sc(N).

Communication skills:- Should be a good speaker, interviewer


& a good teacher.
Observation skills:- Should have the ability to observe
physical, mental & emotional states.
- Recognize the signs & symptoms of
diseases.
- Capable of assessing the health level .

Ability to lead & take decisions:- should be able to take right &
immediate decision according to the
situation.
- Capable of taking independent
decisions.
- able to lead the health team.
Other qualities:- Should have knowledge of available
resources
&
health
problems
of
community.
- Understanding of human behavior.

- Managerial abilities.
- Physically & mentally fit.
- Sympathetic, empathetic.
- Able to work freely with different
people & different situations in the
community.
- Appreciate the effort of all people &
correct their mistakes tactfully.

other health workers & clients.
