COMMUNICATION SKILL -

• •The case worker should be very careful with regard to the language he or she is using
with the client .
• Sometimes certain words may hurt and annoy client also In casework, making the client
to express his problems is very important.
• Client will express, when they trust the CaseWork .
• Trust will be build by the behavior and attitude of the case worker.
• Behavior and attitudes can be understood by the communication.
OBSERVATION

• Observation is a skill through which the CW can understand the unspoken feelings of the
client.
• Sometimes, some client may not reveal the truth, therefore, by observing his body
language, eye movements etc, a case worker can understand the reality .
ACTIVE LISTENING

• The ability to listen carefully, ask questions and retain verbally transmitted information is vital to
the counselling aspect of social work.

• Its how we establish trust open doors and discover values details about the individuals who seek
our help in understanding their unique circumstances.
RECORDING/ DOCUMENTATION

• All areas of social work require that professionals record findings about clients.
• As example, many sources give a probation officer job description that includes the following the
ability to compile, analysis, evaluate and report to the court information obtained during an
investigation .
• Without well developed documentation skills, completing such tasks would be

impossible .
• • Social workers document assessment information , crisis intervention and any
correspondence with their clients or other professionals.
• Documentation must be through , accurate and timely in order to benefit both the client
and the organization offering services
INTERVENTION SKILL -

• Social workers regularly intervene in emergency situations to benefit the lives of their
clients.
• • Interventions are best offered in a way that empowers clients and draws on their
available strengths.

• • This allows clients to develop their own strengths and utilize them when future
problems arise, so they can independently manage their lives.
ASSESSMENT SKILL

• According to the national association of social workers , a significant number of social workers
spend half of their time in case management.
• • In order to be successful in case management , it is important to complete quality assessments.

• The assessment process reveals which clients need assistance obtaining resources, and it is also
allows a social worker to re evaluate client.
PROBLEM SOLVING

• One goal of the social workers is to empower individual.


• In order to empower someone , professional must help that person work through challenges.
• • Excellent problem solving skills are crucial in finding solutions for individuals and communities.
• In addition , social workers often work with limited resources an tight budgets .
• Problem solving skills are essential if one hopes to overcome budgetary obstacles and fiscal
constrains.
ADVOCACY AND LEARDERSHIP

• • Social workers frequently advocate for their clients.


• • Well developed advocacy skills allow social workers to properly represent their

• • Excellent advocacy skills lead to positive change, and this helps clients to live empowered
live.

new programs and remove or revise outdated policies..
CRITICAL THINKING SKILL

• Applying social work theories and making informed decisions helps professionals to best serve
client needs.
• In addition, professionals must act in an ethical and educated manner in order to best serve their
organization.

serve the present situation .
• • When used correctly these skills empower an individual during crisis situations and assist a social

• Successfully managing and prioritizing the logistical aspects of the job can help you maximize the
amount of time you will have on your schedule to provide meaningful services to your clients.
CO- ORDINATION SKILL

• The ability to co ordinate communication and action among multiple parties is a vital part of a
social workers role in connecting clients with services.
RELAXATION AND DE COMPRESSION

• Social work is deeply rewarding profession, but it can also be an incredibly stressful one.
• In order to remain engaged and effective at work, its imperative to take advantage of your personal
time by focusing on and tending to your own needs.
• By the very nature of who we are and what we do , most of the qualities and skills identified here
are innate to our own personalities .
