So, what is
Coaching?
Coaching is…
Coaching is about asking questions in order to
help the client find his own answers (without
giving any advice).
When used effectively and appropriately, it
raises your awareness—like a laser on your
thinking that cuts through a maze of confusion
and brings forth unknown ideas and options.
Coaching is not telling someone what to do; it’s
not giving advice or providing solutions. It is
not the same as mentoring, training or
consulting.
What else is ‘Coaching’?
Coaching is about creating awareness
Enhancing perceptions and expanding horizons
Taking the client deep within where she/he cannot go on her/his
own
Its about generating options—more options and more choices.

More creative ideas
5
Coaching and a coaching environment encourage creative suggestions
from all members of a team without the fear of ridicule or premature
dismissal. One creative idea often sparks off others.
6 Better use of people skills and resources
A manager very often has no idea what hidden resources are available
to him until the employee goes through the coaching, which helps to
uncover many previously undeclared talents in the team as well as
solutions to practical problems.
7 Faster and more effective emergency response
Coaching sparks responsibility and ownership leading to self-
generated responses from the employees
Benefits of Executive Coaching to Organizations
8 More Motivated Staff
The carrot and the stick have lost their edge and people perform
because they want to, not because they have to. Coaching helps
people to discover their self-motivation.
9 Culture Change
The coaching principles underpin the management style of ‘high-
performance’ culture to which so many business leaders aspire. Any
coaching program will help make cultural transformation more
realizable.
10 A Life Skill
Coaching is both an attitude and a behavior, with multiple applications
both in and out of work. It is more and more in demand, so even those
who are looking to change their job soon are going to find it an
invaluable skill wherever they go.

Why Coaching Works
As you will agree that…
Over time we develop/acquire limiting beliefs which must go so that we can
continue to grow.
We tend to limit our thinking which restricts our actions, and therefore
results.
We tend to play safe, develop comfort zones and not take risks or challenge
ourselves.
We tend to base our decisions on our superficial perspective due to lack of
time/in order to look good/to fit certain groups and so on…
We loose track of our dreams, values, strengths and aspirations in order to
achieve material successes.
Our thinking gets colored by our
experiences, expectations of others and
our perception of what others think of
us.
