Grid : It makes the drawing window appear like a graph paper. You
can turn ON the grid display by clicking the gride display button on
the status bar.
Snap : Is used to draw objects by using the intersection points of the
grid lines. When you turn ON the snap mode you will be able to select
only grid points.
Ortho Mode : is used to draw orthogonal (horizontal or vertical)lines.
Polar tracking : is used to constrain the lines to angular increment

• You can select the LINE command from the command bar, or form the
ribbon panel. The line command will make a straight- line segment of
any specified length.
• To start the command, you need to left-click on its icon.
AutoCAD
• Once your command is active, you will notice that the cursor will
change into point selection looks like two perpendicular intersecting
lines and the command line will also show the name of the command,
along with prompt, as shown below

Where is the command line?
• In case you are not able to see the command line /bar at the bottom

Steps for line drawing:
1.Click on any point in the drawing area and the line will start from the
point. Move your cursor and you will notice that the line will follow the
movement of the cursor and it will stretch with the cursor, too. This is
called a rubber bending line. Which follows your cursor.
2. Click on the second point in the drawing area and the fixed length
segment of the line will be made. Repeat the process to make
additional lines. When you are doing, press Enter or esc to exit the
command

1. Select the line command from the draw panel of the
home tab, and press enter.
2. Specify the first point, click anywhere in the drawing
area to add the first point.
3. Move your cursor in the horizontal direction and type
the distance value, and press Enter key again
AutoCAD
Ex-1. Dynamic input and ortho mode should be ON
1. Click line, specify the first point 50,50 and press Enter, move the
cursor horizontally towards right and type 150 as length.
2. Press the TAB key and type 0 as angle, press enter.
3. Move the cursor vertically upwards and type 100 as length, press
the TAB and type 90 as angle, next press enter.
4. Move the cursor horizontally towards left and type 50, press the
TAB and type 180 as angle, next press enter.
5. Move the cursor vertically downwards and type 20, press the TAB
and type 90 as angle, next press enter.
6. Move the cursor horizontally towards left and type 50, press the
TAB and type 180 as angle, next press enter.
AutoCAD
7. Move the cursor vertically downwards and type 40, press the TAB and type 90 as
angle, next press enter.
8. Move the cursor horizontally towards left and type 50, press the TAB and type 180 as
angle, next press enter.
9. Select the Close option form the command line, Save the file as Line –example1.dwg
and close it
Using Dynamic Input : It allows you to enter the distance, angle, and other values right
inside a drawing.
