This document discusses modeling the successful virological response to early antiretroviral therapy (ART) initiation in parentally HIV-infected infants. It provides background on HIV mother-to-child transmission rates with and without treatment. The researcher uses data from 499 infants who started ART within 6 months of age to model the time taken to control viral load to below 400 copies/mL. The modeling aims to assess the ideal time course of viral decay under very early ART initiation and the potential for functional cure of HIV.
