- 1. Adding a simple product in Magento 2 How you should (really) do it.
- 2. First of all you have to go to your shops’ admin url and login (obviously) Your admin URL (usually it’s www.yourshop.com/admin but it is advised to change to prevent attacks Your Magento Login and Password
- 3. In your admin panel choose products and then catalog
- 4. Find a “Add Product” button and an arrow next to it, click it and choose “Simple Product”.
- 5. Now you should see a long list of attributes that should be filled in order to create a product. Remember that only fields with red star are required, but the more you fill, the bigger chance your client will find what he is looking for. Toggle to choose if product is active or not (available for purchase). Choose no, if it’s a demo product or product added in advance. Set of attributes shared between products (for ex. jeans, bikes) Your products name seen in storefront SKU (stock keeping unit) refers to a unique identifier or code that refers to the particular stock keeping unit. These codes are not regulated or standardized. When you receive items from a vendor, you can maintain the vendor's SKU or creating its own. Total price of your product (including tax) Choose one of Tax Classes configured earlier

For example it is prefered by clients and google for URL to contain breadcrubms and product name for ex. myshop.com/category1/subcategory1/item1 instead of myshop.com/d/1Zay-sbVDJ0aswRnkdKdLJgR1YTqcJ6z1bag.html Meta Title is a title for search engine, for ex. if you sell a book “Rise and fall of A-track” meta title should read rise-and-fall-of-a-track Searchable keywords for search engine to find this product by Short description for Google under 250 characters.

Here you can add related products, up-sells and cross sells: Related product: product you can buy as an EXTRA for this product, for ex. a bag for a laptop Up-sell: product you can buy INSTEAD of this product, for ex. better laptop Cross-sell: simmilar to related products, products that you can add EXTRA when you’re decided on main product
- 11. Customisable options, kind of an upsell without adding extra products, for example fancy packaging, adding a note or maybe a file to print onto product (t-shirt, mug etc.)
- 12. If you have more than one store/store view, you can choose where your products is supposed to be available Most design options are only usable in stock Magento, most Magento implementations are either themes or individual design, so we won’t cover this
