- 2. Park Area The park area was used in our first shots. We believed that the use of the park demonstrated isolation and savagery of the protagonist. Park areas are notorious in thriller films for being areas where high crimes are committed, which is why the use of a park in our opening sequence helped to conform with the codes and conventions of a thriller film.
- 3. Southbank Bridge It is known that suburban areas are the main places where thriller films take place. We believed that taking advantage of a busy and high populated area like Southbank would put emphasis on the character of Junior, and how he’s portrayed as the odd one out.
- 4. The Church The church was used in order to create a peaceful, personalised area for Junior to reside to when in times of distress. This creates an usual representation of Junior, as we would not expect a character like Junior to be of faith. The symbolism of a church, and the power it holds is of significant value which is why exhausting this venue serves as advantage to create better content for my thriller film.
- 5. The Basement It is common to see isolated areas in a thriller film, such as a basement. The idea of isolation is a dark concept which leaves room for the unknown. The use of the basement allows us to create scenes with shadows and low key lighting, which are elements that are part of the codes and conventions of a thriller film. This adds to the idea of anticipation and suspense.
