The Origins of Christmas The Origins of Christmas Christmas has been set aside as the day that Christians celebrate Jesus Christ’s birth--which is estimated to have been between 6 B.C. and 1 A.D. The sovereignty of Rome gave the followers of Christ access to many nations, through which their beliefs were spread. In 350 A.D., Pope Julius I established December 25th as the day to celebrate the birth of Jesus Chris; it was called “Christ’s Mass”
