what is IoT?
 The Internet of Things (IoT) is the network of physical
objects or "things" embedded with electronics,
software, sensors and connectivity to enable it to
achieve greater value and service by exchanging data
with the manufacturer, operator and/or other
connected devices.
 Each thing is uniquely identifiable through its
embedded computing system but is able to
interoperate within the existing Internet
infrastructure.
Making S-E-N-S-E to the technology
 IoT has key attributes that distinguish it from “regular”
internet, as captured by S-E-N-S-E framework:
Sensing, Efficient, Networked, Specialized,
Everywhere.
Latest trends in IoT
 IoT devices can be used to enable remote health
monitoring and emergency notification systems. These health
monitoring devices can range from blood pressure and heart
rate monitors to advanced devices capable of monitoring
specialized implants, such as pacemakers or advanced hearing
aids.
 The IoT can assist in integration of communications, control,
and information processing across various transportation
systems.
 IoT devices can be used to monitor and control the
mechanical, electrical and electronic systems used in various
types of buildings (e.g., public and private, industrial,
institutions, or residential).Home Automation systems, like
other building automation systems, are typically used to
control lighting, heating, ventilation, air conditioning,
appliances, communication systems, entertainment and home
security devices to improve convenience, comfort, energy
efficiency, and security.
Interest Area
 The explosion of sensors in what we are calling the
Internet of Things will only reach its potential value
for sensor technology providers and users when
sensors and sensor data are easily published,
discovered, assessed, tasked and used in applications.
 If given an opportunity to work in this field, I would
like to show my interest in gathering information
through sensors and processing valuable information
to end users.
