This document provides instructions for using a HOBO U23-001 Temperature and Relative Humidity data logger. It describes the logger's applications for outdoor temperature monitoring and environments with condensation. BuildingPerformanceModule Temperature & R/H EXT. - (U23-001) Definition: This is a HOBO: U23-001 Temperature and Rela- tive Humidity logger a weatherproof data logger with an internal temperature and RH sensor which allows you to take measurements in outdoors and indoor environments. Applications: Outdoor Temperature Monitoring Environments with condensation 2 Left click on the red number sym- bol to get a brief description of what items are required to use the U23- 001 Data Logger. Step 1: Always refer back to the Manual when necessary just left click with you mouse. Left click with your mouse on the Specification Button to see the battery life of the logger, it’s range, and operating temperature. This would give you an idea under which conditions this meter may be used. Step 2: Connect the Logger to the PC using the USB cable to get it ready to Launch. Note: This logger requires a Coupler and a base station to connect to PC. See figure1. Open the Software HOBOware Pro by clicking on the icon with a Circle and a H. - 3. BuildingPerformanceModule 3 How to Launch the logger to collect data. Step 4: Once Logger is connected confirm on the right hand bottom corner that it says 1 device connected. Under the Device drop-down menu select Launch to get the configuration page where you can configure the log- ger to start logging data. - 8. BuildingPerformanceModule 8 Logger placement in a green house, measur- ing moisture and temperature. Note: This logger is weatherproof protected for outdoor and high moisture environments. Step 6: Logger Placement Mounting the Logger with the Radiation Shield (RS3) Mount temperature or temp/RH sensor in shield as shown. Clearance between mounting bracket and radiation shield ceiling is 65 mm (2.5”). Mea- sure the sensor’s placement accordingly and secure the cable to the mounting bracket (C) with cable ties (B). Carefully place the radiation shield (A) over the sensor and at- tach to mounting bracket with knurled nuts (D), being careful not to over-tighten. Attach mounting bracket to wall, post, or HOBO® Weather Station mast. To use in- cluded screws (E) as shown in the diagram (left), pre-drill 2.4 mm ( 3/32”) holes in wood, or 2.75 mm ( 7/64”) holes in metal.
