INTRODUCTION
The decision of enrolment into a B-School has been a critical decision in a student’s
life. The trend prevailing these days is that after Graduation a student will be having
high aspirations in doing a Post-Graduation course from a B-School. The college
enrolment decision has become increasingly complex during the last 30 years, as
higher education has transformed in many ways. The entry of different B-Schools
into the education sector has made this decision a further more difficult one. The
various factors which are to be taken into account for analysing and to get a better
decision in choosing a B-School are being covered in this study. In today’s world
Management studies has become the pioneer of all the Post-Graduation courses in
India this study will bring out the places where a b-school can develop and can
become more attractive to students.
NEED FOR THE STUDY
This study will analyse the various reasons which a student will take into account
before choosing the B-School for a Post-Graduate management program. As the
decision of choosing the B-School will play a major role in framing one’s career,
knowing what makes the basis for the decision should be considered. This study
helps in finding out what factors play an important role in choosing the B-School.
This study should be done to know the factors which need to be focused by the B-
School administration in order to be more promising and attractive.
OBJECTIVES
1. To know all the factors influencing student’s behaviour while choosing a B-
School.
2. To know which factors play the bigger role in the students decision while
choosing B-School.
3. To know various expectations of the students about the college.
4. To know whether the facilities provided by the college are good/not.
METHODOLOGY
This chapter discusses in detail the methodology followed for the study. It firstly
discusses the methods that have been employed for data collection.
DATA COLLECTION
Data collection is of two types namely:
(a) Primary data
(b) Secondary data
Secondly it details the sample, the size, the type and finally gives justifications.
This study is solely based on primary data only. No secondary data is taken into
account for this research.
For any research, the two types of data are necessary:
1. Primary source
2. Secondary source
PRIMARY SOURCE
The primary source of data is applied for getting the required and relevant
information directly from the students pursuing PGDM course in VVISM. The
following are the data collected through primary sources:
a) What attracted students to join the B-School?
b) What are the expectations of the students?
c) About the course covered through discussions with the students and through
questionnaires.
SAMPLE
A sample was required for the study because the number of students at the B-
School was 120. It is very difficult to approach all the students; therefore, a
representative sample was selected.
SAMPLE SIZE
A sample of 50 students has been selected. Although it looks to be a small sample,
keeping in view the approachability. Even then, the sample size is not considered to
be small. It is enough to draw conclusion.
TYPE
I have selected convenience sampling technique. I felt that this was the only
technique that provided me with a representative sample. Only convenience
sampling technique provides with this opportunity. The biased sampling is the only
available sampling technique because all the students were not available to be
approached with the questionnaire.
LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY
 The study includes only the students from VVISM PGDM 2016-18 batch as
respondents.
 The sample is only a convenient sample because all the students are not
approachable.
 Some parts of the questionnaire were not understood by the respondents as
it raised some ambiguity.
 The Management studies include so many courses but only PGDM was
considered in this study.

Findings
1. Majority of the students Agreed that the following factors affected in
choosing the B-School.
 Financial stability
 Job opportunities
 Work Experience
 Placement assistance
 Fees Structure
 Internship
 Practicality of the course
 Reputation of the college
2. I also found that the hostel facility doesn’t have major effect on the
decision.
3. The quality and taste of the food provided in the college canteen is
poor to majority of the students.
4. The advertisement done by the college has affected 60% of the
students in their decision which is a huge positive outcome to the B-
School.
5. The word of mouth/ references done to join the college have been
low. So the B-School management should focus more on this.

  • 6. INTRODUCTION The decision of enrolment into a B-School has been a critical decision in a student’s life. The trend prevailing these days is that after Graduation a student will be having high aspirations in doing a Post-Graduation course from a B-School. The college enrolment decision has become increasingly complex during the last 30 years, as higher education has transformed in many ways. The entry of different B-Schools into the education sector has made this decision a further more difficult one. The various factors which are to be taken into account for analysing and to get a better decision in choosing a B-School are being covered in this study. In today’s world Management studies has become the pioneer of all the Post-Graduation courses in India this study will bring out the places where a b-school can develop and can become more attractive to students. NEED FOR THE STUDY This study will analyse the various reasons which a student will take into account before choosing the B-School for a Post-Graduate management program. As the decision of choosing the B-School will play a major role in framing one’s career, knowing what makes the basis for the decision should be considered. This study helps in finding out what factors play an important role in choosing the B-School. This study should be done to know the factors which need to be focused by the B- School administration in order to be more promising and attractive.
  • 7. OBJECTIVES 1. To know all the factors influencing student’s behaviour while choosing a B- School. 2. To know which factors play the bigger role in the students decision while choosing B-School. 3. To know various expectations of the students about the college. 4. To know whether the facilities provided by the college are good/not. METHODOLOGY This chapter discusses in detail the methodology followed for the study. It firstly discusses the methods that have been employed for data collection. DATA COLLECTION Data collection is of two types namely: (a) Primary data (b) Secondary data Secondly it details the sample, the size, the type and finally gives justifications. This study is solely based on primary data only. No secondary data is taken into account for this research. For any research, the two types of data are necessary: 1. Primary source 2. Secondary source
  • 8. PRIMARY SOURCE The primary source of data is applied for getting the required and relevant information directly from the students pursuing PGDM course in VVISM. The following are the data collected through primary sources: a) What attracted students to join the B-School? b) What are the expectations of the students? c) About the course covered through discussions with the students and through questionnaires. SAMPLE A sample was required for the study because the number of students at the B- School was 120. It is very difficult to approach all the students; therefore, a representative sample was selected. SAMPLE SIZE A sample of 50 students has been selected. Although it looks to be a small sample, keeping in view the approachability. Even then, the sample size is not considered to be small. It is enough to draw conclusion. TYPE I have selected convenience sampling technique. I felt that this was the only technique that provided me with a representative sample. Only convenience sampling technique provides with this opportunity. The biased sampling is the only available sampling technique because all the students were not available to be approached with the questionnaire.
  • 9. LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY  The study includes only the students from VVISM PGDM 2016-18 batch as respondents.  The sample is only a convenient sample because all the students are not approachable.  Some parts of the questionnaire were not understood by the respondents as it raised some ambiguity.  The Management studies include so many courses but only PGDM was considered in this study.

  • 34. Findings 1. Majority of the students Agreed that the following factors affected in choosing the B-School.  Financial stability  Job opportunities  Work Experience  Placement assistance  Fees Structure  Internship  Practicality of the course  Reputation of the college 2. I also found that the hostel facility doesn’t have major effect on the decision. 3. The quality and taste of the food provided in the college canteen is poor to majority of the students. 4. The advertisement done by the college has affected 60% of the students in their decision which is a huge positive outcome to the B- School. 5. The word of mouth/ references done to join the college have been low. So the B-School management should focus more on this.
