- 2. Introduction Today, we are living in information technology era. Open source are available to modify and share because its design is publicly accessible. Open repositories are e-services designed to preserve and provide open access to journal articles reprints/preprints, audio/video and digital data. It maintained by institutions to benefit of their own authors and researchers. Many institutes, libraries/information centre are providing services to their users in remote area. So, Indian Higher Education has prepared a system to digitization of Theses and Dissertation to their repository. To this aim, many academic research institutions needed. The Memorandum of Understanding describes the liabilities, responsibilities and commitments of the institutions involved to proper system implementation and to meet the objectives pertaining to submission or access to Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs) as envisaged by the Notification and Minimum Standards & Procedure for Award of M.Phil/Ph.D Degree of UGC Regulation 1st June, 2009.
- 3. Concept of ETDs Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs): is a collection research work/document/information and stored in digital form. It is accessible through the network at worldwide for the academic institution. Institutional repository defined that digital archive is an academic institution‘s intellectual output, including research papers, theses and dissertations, administrative documents, learning objects, conference presentations, proceedings, multimedia material etc. ETD such as master‘s thesis and doctoral dissertation in electronic form. Example of ETDs: Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (NDLTD) in Virginia and Shodhganga repository of theses and dissertations of the Indian universities.
- 4. Shodhganga Shodhganga is a reservoir and digital repository of Theses and Dissertations of the Indian universities. It maintained by INFLIBNET centre of the University Grants Commission at the campus of Gujarat University, Ahmedabad. Full text research work theses and dissertations submitted to Shodhganga to read and download in open access for the academic community at globally. It plays an important role to the theses as backup archives and stops the unnecessary duplication of the research.

Objectives of the Study • To describe concept of ETDs; • To find the role of Shodhganga repository in ETDs; • To know the ranking of Indian universities in Shodhganga repository; • To identify the present position of the Delhi universities in Shodhganga repository; • To explore the comparative position among the Delhi universities about the contribution of ETDs in Shodhganga repository.

Findings of the Study: • Shodhganga repository vital role play to open access ETDs and stops the unnecessary duplication of the research work at worldwide. • In India, 831 UGC recognized universities but, 300 Universities are contributing in ETDs. • Calcutta University got 1st rank with 10298 research work to submit in ETDs. While, Savitaribai Phule Pune University got 2nd position with 8431 research work to submit in ETDs. • 11 are affiliated universities in Delhi but, only 5 (3 Central and 2 State) universities are 5508 research work contribution in Shodhganga repository. • Jawaharlal Nehru University got top rank with 4695 (85.5%) research work submit in Shodhganga repository and University of Delhi got 2nd position with their 507 (9.2%) research work submit.
- 18. Conclusion The present time is growth of information technological era and researcher are doing research work at university level. Researchers are not fully familiar about the (ETDs), while ETDs are freely available such as Shodhganga Repositary. Anyone can free access through the networking. Shodhganga repository maintains the right of copyright and intellectual to avoiding the bounding the duplication of research projects. Thus, Shodhganga repository plays a vital to provide open access ETDs; 831 UGC recognized universities but 300 Universities are contributing in ETDs. In which Calcutta University got 1st rank for research work to submit in ETDs. Only 5 (3 Central and 2 State) universities are contributing ETDs in Shodhganga repository. Jawaharlal Nehru University got top rank and University of Delhi got 2nd rank to submit their research work in Shodhganga repository.
