- 3. INTRODUCTION • The health care industry is under extreme pressure to both regulate low costs and to provide high quality medication to patients. Keeping up with this market changes would not be possible without technical advancements that support the healthcare industry. • Blockchain has the potential to alleviate major challenges of this industry: cut-off costs and transmission of patient data without compromising their privacy and security. page 3
- 4. Health care: Current state • The health care industry is a complex system of interconnected entities. • The transformation of healthcare has led to the evolution of concept "Patient-Centricity". It is possible only when patient's data is available to all entities participating in patient's care. • But the global availability of this data might pose numerous challenges. How does Blockchain fit? • Blockchain supports seamless information sharing that can eliminate the duplication, errors and inconsistencies that can arise with traditional care system. • The smart contracts application eliminates the need for intermediaries to manage and execute patient records. page 5
- 6. • Counterfeiting is a major problem for the pharmaceutical industry.10-30% drugs sold in developing countries are fake. • Due to this ingredients and dosages are impacted, which can cause adverse reactions or not provide expected treatment. • This can be solved by time- stamped and immutable id’s across blockchain. Clinical trials • We can improve clinical trial monitoring and effectiveness by removing frauds and data manipulation. • Here, all documents created for the purpose of clinical trials can be time-stamped and stored securely. Those documents include project proposals, research design, surveys, blood tests, and informed consent of the participating parties page 8
