Writing Some of the topics we will cover this year in  writing include: Content, Organization, and Style  Conventions- using them consistently, specialized spelling lists- accountability, tests on Fri. Narratives and Expository The Writing Process- tightening up, building independence Adding details to paint a picture for the reader, adding voice/personality/feelings, focusing on “one small seed” and turning it into a “watermelon,” considering the reader
Math Math 4 Today/AMPS  Periodically/End of Unit: Concept tests Number Sense, Geometric Sense, Measurement, Algebraic Sense, Probability/Statistics Reasoning
Science This year in science we will be investigating three major topics through the scientific process: * Water The properties of water and the  water cycle *Life Structures: Plants and Crayfish Form and function as well as life  cycles/systems *Magnetism and Electricity Circuit pathways and transfer of energy
Social Studies Studying Washington State: geography, regions, and features Learning about the Northwest Native Americans and their history Exploring what brought settlers west and some of the hardships they faced as they settled in the Northwest. CBA- Classroom Based Assessment- mandated by state with focus on People on the Move- should tie in with pioneer studies and there are rubrics that accompany  this assessment.
District Wide Assessments DRA 2: Developmental Reading Assessment- fluency is the gatekeeper Periodic Writing Assessments scored with statewide expectations/rubrics 4th Grade Measurements of Student Progress (MSP)  Math Reading Writing Social Studies CBA
