QR Codes
a
QR Codes
• QR Codes (or “Quick Response Codes”) are similar to bar codes.
• The code consists of colored modules arranged in a square
pattern on a white background.
• QR codes can store a lot information – plain text, web page
addresses, raw data, etc.
• QR code use is on the rise in education because they are easy to
create, easy to read and students are intrigued by them. That
makes them perfect to integrate into the classroom to increase
learning among our students.

Storytelling Ideas
Planning for a digital story is a key to success.
What are you or your students trying to teach or what story do you or your
students want to tell through your project?
Examples of types of stories include:
• Create a story to introduce yourself; consider using your own photos, drawings,
or photos gathered from the Internet to represent ideas
• Curriculum focus - such as introducing a concept or explaining something in
your curriculum
• Explain a classroom rule, procedure, or tip for success.
• Tell a story about a significant event in your life - have a beginning, middle and
end (climax)
• Animate an original poem
• Create an adapted folktale about a famous person or animate a fairy tale with a
moral at the end
#tcea16
Significant Event Activity
Objective: Students will write a script and create a digital story.
Students will use the iPad to effectively communicate.
1. Using an app of your choice, create a digital story
about a significant event that occurred in your life.
2. Write a story or script that details a beginning,
middle, and ending using the Notes app, or some
other app such as PaperDesk or Pages.
3. Define the characters and actions you will use in
your story to communicate what you want to say
with your script. This can be written out, or shared
using a storyboard or story map.
4. Practice reading the story or script before recording.
5. Use the app of your choice to create your project. If
available in the app, select appropriate music.
6. Watch your video. Re-record if needed.
7. Share your project.
Follow the directions below to complete this activity.
Take it Further:
• Create a story map or storyboard
that depicts a sequence of images
that readers will see.
• Story maps can be created with
paper and pencil, by using an app
such as Popplet lite, or with a
printed or electronic storyboard
template.

What Have I Learned? App Smash
Objective: To use and combine different apps to create an app smash about your TCEA 2016
learning experience.
1. Using the Pic Collage app, create a
college using pictures you have taken. If
you don’t have any, go outside and take
some.
2. Once your collage is created, save it to
your camera roll and import it into the
Tellagami app.
3. Using the Tellagami app, add a character
that will explain what you have learned at
the convention so far.
4. Save and share your creation.
Follow the directions below to complete this activity.

TCEA APP Evaluation Rubric
TCEA has developed an app evaluation rubric to serve as a guide when
considering apps for the classroom. The rubric is divided into different
domain criteria and then scored on a scale of 1 to 4.
The rubric is located
at http://goo.gl/W4NeL.
